Last stands of World War II. This time the scene is Brest Litovsk now just called Brest in Belarus. It’s a city and a fortress that changed hands twice in two fierce WW2 battles and turned friend into foe. First we go almost two years back in time to September 1939 in Poland, and the first battle of Brest Litovsk that at that time was called Brześć Litewski. Then we go to June 22nd 1941 and the German attack that started with a 29-minute bombardment by artillery and Nebelwerfer rocket launchers.
