I'm enjoying this build as I built a wrecker bed for my k10 high trail. I used aluminum throughout. I can't wait to see yours complete. Your work looks great so far,
Kinda glad to hear I'm not the only one with not much patience for certain things. I need to unglue all the tires for the Redcat 53 hauler to strip the chrome and I really don't want to do it.
@RCeveryday styrene is old school I bought a 3D printer and love it just need to take the time to learn a newer technology- however wheel wells a long time ago years back I used Vienna sausage cans to make wheel wells on a styrene bed and it glued up fine With I think it was CA glue I remember having to mix it with hardener anyway looked cool and got a snack out the deal 😂
make tubs and rear taillight panel , out of one piece of styrene plastic don't score and cut the styrene plastic use a triangle file and score a line in the back then glue the v notch for a seamless joint .
I buy my styrene from a plastics wholesaler in Florida on ebay, it comes in huge 12x12 sheets. I've never looked back. Evergreen makes amazingly specialized stuff but for raw sheet, I just don't think it's worth the money to buy only the name brand stuff, especially if I'm going to be using it for body skin 'sheet metal' But for my model railroad stuff and other special details, evergreen still has it. As for the wheelwells? There is quite a few ways to tackle em. Multiple pieces, heat forming, screaming, just kinda jamming some material in there. Could do thin sheet metal. But you'll figure out something. Also at about the 10:00 mark, you show off why I personally don't use grub screws on my hardbodies! I rather sigh and grab a screw driver than break all my bodywork! Plus for some of the RC4WD bodies I find that they sometimes just don't sit correctly until the screws are squeezing it... But to each their own of course!
Ive had good luck with my amazon styrene sheets. So I dont doubt you there. As far as the cracking at 10:00, it'll only do it once, lmao. But we will see once the door panels go in if it holds up. Need a battery spot underneath so the body can stay on forever-ever.
@@RCeveryday Crackin' once is still more than I want! Oh- Would it be possible for you to grab a rough measurement of the offset of those 1.7s ya got? Well either that or the total mounted width on a Yota axle. When or if you ever get the chance that is!
can you heat the styrene over a pipe? if you dont have a pipe that big maybe a cheap big round tuppaware container? personally i think a hex-ish wheelwell top would look best, you know where its like a hump but angled up from the front and back to the flat middle.
They was made from flat plate. Most of the ones I seen was dimmed plate! But most of the trucks I was around was 3rd hand and leaked more oil then you put in😂 there are videos on the rebuilding of wreckers this age!
I work with a similar truck bed on a newer Ford chassis butt I feel like you should just raise the bed floor up a little bit all the way to the back of the cab to the back side of the wheel well and our truck it has a wheel lift underneath and a boom up top
I hear ya, ive based it all off the 80's style chevy beds Ive seen on image search, pre-wheel lift era. Id love to build a more modern repo rig eventually, but this is going to be the OG sling type only bed.
This is a build of a square body tow truck, if I’m not mistaken they do extensive work to the bed. If you want some reference it might be helpful for your build. ruclips.net/video/OnUDI-Nm7oQ/видео.htmlsi=VaLOGS_ZUwkK6Rso

Looks like a good idea 😊
I really enjoy watching you build stuff like this.
Glue the items 1st with CA, then spray with the activator, you will have much better results! Loving the build!

Stuff like unglueing tires has no time allocated for it, lol. 10/10 not a fun thing to do
Cut one piece for the dove tail and use heat to shape it. This way will be much stronger and looks better.
Nice work , would either square box it or angle box /`````\ would look good.
Just received my k10 chassis today in the mail and very pleased with how it looks just waiting on TAMIYA parts to show up for front suspension

Oops, I just filmed part 4 last night. Made it in sections. I did at least bevel the edges to fit together well. 🥴

Ive got them on the brx80 axle, so it may be different. All i know is its way better than the rc4wd duals I started with.

First one
If you would be interesting in demoing the K-10 Super Scale kit hit me up I think we can work something out.
what is the glue you used? nice build.
Plastruct bondene. All hobbytowns carry it. Sure it’s on amazon and eBay as well. Works super fast.
Thanks!!! Love your vids!!!
