  • Hi YT fam!
    Thank you for being here~
This video was hard for me to publish (ahhh) but here it is! I wanted to share it because having monolids growing up was a personal insecurity of mine and I didn't know there was a non-invasive way to get eyelids until my cousin told me about it! After that coffee date, the rest is history and I shall never look back moOhahah
Hope you found this video helpful and let me know if I can answer any other questions below xx

Thank you so much for posting this video. I know how scary it must have been putting this up for everyone to watch. It personally has been so helpful for me as I have also struggled with accepting my monolids. After learning about this method, I’ve been doing a lot of research and it seems like it is likely that eventually you may need to do a second surgery to maintain a double eyelid which could involve an incision. What are your thoughts on that? I’m super scared of any type of surgery and know that I’d love the double eyelid too much (if I had done the buried suture method) that it would feel like I would need to do the incision if/when the time came.

Thank you for making this! I have one "single" and one "double" eyelid like your cousin so I've been wanting to get eyelid surgery done for YEARS. Literally get exactly what you mean about being self-conscious about it. Used to wear tapes everyday but I would get so embarrassed when people would say I had something on my eyelid. When you got this done, I know your mom speaks Japanese, but how hard do you think it would be to communicate without speaking Japanese? I've been to Japan a few times and took high school level Japanese but my knowledge doesn't extend far past getting simple directions. Do you think you'd have to be a fluent Japanese speaker to communicate with the doctors on the process?

Yup, this is EXACTLY what i went through when I was younger and when I was in korea, decided to go with this procedure too! Im sooooo happy with my decision. The doc told me that i might need a touch up in like 8 years or so, but it’s been like 15 years and my eyes still look just as great. If u have fattier lids, there is a chance that u might need touch ups or cannot do this procedure and they recommend the cutting method because these won’t last as long, but if u don’t have fatter lids, this works totally fine! Super easy, fast and no infections! I think it was pretty cheap too! I personally never felt any grime or knots in my eyes when i wore contacts. Seriously, if you’re considering double eyelids, go with this procedure and do your research! Go to asia if u can, they do it best and know asian eyes. I think there are famous companies that help people who don’t speak english and book all of their appts and drive them to and from their hotels. They’ve got it down.

Great job explaining your experience and natural looking results. You were so articulate and genuine that it almost made me shed a tear. Thank you for sharing. As you probably know, those crescent moon shaped "eyelid tapes" are being sold nowadays. That needle for numbing looks like a 0.2mm diameter needle. How did you communicate with the Japanese doctor/staff. Did they speak English?

  • @lepetitenellie
    @lepetitenellie 3 года назад +9

Hello. The suture method looks great on you for the type of lids you gave. I think yours looks very beautiful and natural. I see some people say that their lids reverted back after the sutures came undone but many cosmetic doctors say it’s because some people were just born to have monolids whereas others say they are going 10+ years strong without having to retouch because their lids were probably a little more malleable. The latter types are the types that could have “trained” their lids with tape but that’s a big stressful daily commitment, and like you said, always having to avoid swimming, rain, rubbing your eyes and just relaxing.
I have a request for this video: At 1:04 could you put a disclaimer that the vision aspect was just *your* experience. Yes there are some people that do have vision issues because of their eyelids but mainly astigmatism developed because of uneven lids where the lid of one eye is forcing the pupils to compensate for the light/sight where the other is not adjusting because the lid is not drooping, or cases like your cousin where one lid holds the fold stronger than the other. But this happens to all races of people where one side of the face is not as strong as the other. Asians overall having bad vision due to our monolids and/or smaller eyes is not true. The small-eyes-poor-vision thing is one of those Asian stereotypes pushed by ignorant people so i feel it’s best as Asians we should be mindful of the information we put out there of sensitive topics like eye shapes. I still feel you look beautiful and your results are absolutely amazing. I totally understand what you have been through. I am personally fighting back-and-forth getting my lids done. I have one eyelid that has a heavier fat deposit so it is drooping more than my other side. Aesthetically I know there is nothing wrong with monolids, but my eye doctor said I am on the path to astigmatism. The majority of both my maternal and paternal family members have this issue so it’s natural that I would be dealing with it now in my 30s. Only three actually had lids cosmetically done where the others are not wanting to get their lids done out of rebellion (lol!). Anyway, I digress. I thank you for your honesty in this video. This method is not for my particular eyelid type because of the fat deposits but I am glad the information is out there.

Holy moly I thought I was the only one who did the scotch tape thing!! I have a double eyelid on my left eye and a lower -or non existent- crease on my right eye. Ever since I was in elementary school I would do the scotch tape thing on my right eye to correct it and it was so uncomfortable. I would always get a monolid if I slept on that side or cried so I refrained from doing those things. Eventually, I discovered from a Michelle Phan video that eyelid tape existed so I started using that. After consistent use I have sorta trained that eyelid crease to stay but it is still not permanent and goes away if I cry. To solve that I just go to sleep with the eyelid tape already on. I have been considering getting eyelid surgery for a long time but as a broke college student, that will have to be in the very distant future, when I actually have enough money for it.

It didn’t bleed, and doest hurt. It felt nothing, and now it just feels like before when I had monolid, not sure if you know what I mean, when I open my eyes, the lid doesnt feel like there’s a crease. Now it looks like a very weak double eyelid, sometimes looks like a monolid. I’ve heard some people would end up having very loose looking lids when the crease is undone, but mine doesn’t

Most clinics mention that it’s gonna last averagely three to five years.( rarely would last more then ten years ) And as she said, after it came undone, you can redone it. However, there is no guarantees that they could find the every threads that were previously put.

Hello, this is an old post, but that’s makes it even more interesting to know what happened after : did you redo the procedure ?
Or did you decide to stay monolid and if so, how does it look like now ? Did skin stretch out , became weaker ? I hope you can share this, would be very helpful

@@insecticaa for my first (the less invasive one), it’s a thread that dissolves so no blood/pain. For my second (the invasive one), when they took out the thread, it did hurt 😅definitely more than the procedure itself cuz the procedure just felt weird with very very little pain. When they took out the thread, it bled very little, just a tiny amount

I don't know why this was recommended to me but I did the same tape method too!! I didn't even know it was a thing because I started doing it when my eyes would be unevenly puffy from crying. I guessed I cried a lot because now I have a larger crease lol

I have this done 20 years ago in Taiwan. It was a simple procedure. All I can remember was the doctor draw a line and used a surgical thread sewed it from outside, not from inside. May be the doctor numb my eyelid? I don't remember any pain... haha, that was long ago.

Do you have fatter lids or thinner lids?
I did mine last year and I'm scared it's going to be undone 😂

Feeling the suture and a grime gritty feeling would drive me nuts. I think I'd go for full surgery just because of that.

You could also get LASIK eye surgery. I got LASIK and it's so nice. I hated using contacts and now no longer have to!
