  • Sissel, the international singing sensation from Norway, is widely regarded as one of the finest and most talented sopranos in the world. Her crystalclear voice has made Sissel a national institution in Norway. Sissel has sung all over the world, selling over ten million solo albums. She contributed the haunting vocal tracks for the soundtrack to Titanic. She has been doing great duets with singers like Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, Bryn Terfel, Jose Carreras, Russell Watson, Mario Frangoulis, Josh Groban, Neil Sedaka and Charles Aznavour. A very remarkable voice you will only hear once in your lifetime.
"In Dulci Jubilo" (English "In Sweetest Rejoicing" but most commonly arranged as "Good Christian Men, Rejoice") is a traditional Christmas Carol. In Norwegian this song is called "Jeg Synger Julekvad" ("I Am Singing A Christmas-song").
The original lyrics, a macaronic alternation of Medieval German and Latin, is thought to have been written by the German mystic Heinrich Seuse circa 1328. According to folklore, Seuse heard angels sing these words and joined them in a dance of worship.

I was there when this song was recorded...the entire 21,000 seat auditorium was completely electrified when she sang this song. I became a lifelong Sissel fan that night.

How this song should be sung . So often it’s ruined by insensitivity . This is outstanding. Pronunciation, and voice equally beautiful

She is the swan of the song world. Note the effort going on behind all her grace and seeming ease... those little twitches as she nails the first note of a line. You can understand by this performance why she was invited back again & again.

It's amazing to look how the God is singing through this charming angel. Her beautiful bright face, true and lovely smile, these little sparks in her eyes, heavenly voice and fantastic music of J.S. Bach - this set could not be created just by a human.

It's soupy and Disneyfied but it's wonderful when Sissel opens her throat and sears our hearts. The oracle for each of us is the heart.

This is the most beautiful version of this old Christmas song that I have ever heard. Heaven comes through her voice and we fortunate souls on Earth can enjoy it. Heaven is for real!

Sissel channels sound from an ethereal realm. She achieves the ideal blend of pure folk singing and classical training. If I were a composer, she would be my ideal vocal interpreter.

Horner thought so for his Titanic score though he didn't know who she was, going on a voice he heard on a CD singing a foreign language. Sissel has an operatic style voice but she is not classically trained...thankfully... or the lovely honey warm tones would have been altered.

Sissel married her partner Ernst Ravnaas in a private ceremony in Hov church in Norway on August 13th. No guests were invited to this ceremony which were held secretly. Our congratulations goes to the newly married couple.

The voice is very beautiful - though I dislike a bit the "fat" arrangement. The orchestra and the choir are too prominent in my opinion. The voice of Mrs Sissel would carry the piece alone...
