Hi Taren! I finished my first sprint tri yesterday. It was awesome. I watched your channel for motivation while I was training. I signed up for another one in July. Thank you for the awesome content.
Just a quick comment to say I just completed my first Olympic distance sea swim and cliff run tri. At soon many points I could of thrown in the towel but I had in mind your comment's that this is just a tough day that will end, did I drop kicked my fears and said yes?..... Well yes I did. Thanks taren,
I am 47 always been really active did races like spartan etc i need a new exciting goal and watching your videos, you convince me to do a sprint even if i have 3 kids my youngest is 6. i am a flight attendant and super busy but i am driven and i know i can do it.thank’s taren you are my fav
Thank you so much for the videos! I can't believe there's a new one every day. Each one is very helpful and entertaining. Keep up the good work man, we all appreciate it.
Definitely agree with the early morning workouts for busy families. Also get your family involved in racing, volunteering etc. Kids love to bike with you while mom or dad runs.
Got some good news. Went to therapy today. They're pretty sure it isn't anterior compartment syndrome. They think it's shin splints and have evaluated my walk, step, gait, you name it. Conclusion.. painfully, is that my muscles are SOOOO freaking tight that it's causing massive problems. After the stretches I felt like a new man. I felt like death during though.
Hey Taren just a quick question as I am in a different time zone and I'm sure there are a lot of other trainiacs that are aswell, Do you have like a schedule or create one so we don't miss the Facebook lives :)
Ok seriously now you have to do one with a single lady. I work a ton of overtime during the week because it's only me paying the bills. I have 2 dogs, I have to do all the guy stuff like mowing the lawn etc, plus all the house work laundry, dishes, etc. I would love to hear that perspective! PS thank you for the videos I love them!
Chris... I have been racing sprint triathlons for three years now. I do two runs, two bikes and two swims per week along with strength exercises for shoulder and hip stability and have not gotten close to a 1 hr 8 min time. I want to know how does he use his “40 minutes a day”? How is that balanced between each discipline? What does “ramping up” look like? How do I get that stinking fast?!?
Bike indoors are good but doing a treadmill is so much more different than running outdoors i would reccomend running outdoors in order to increase speed and endurance. I would only use treadmills to make my legs get use to a pace a week before race day for 5k's or 10K's. Also it doesnt need to be crazy milage i normally do like 20 - 25 a week, i have no time to do more but i make those miles count
I am thinking doing a spin class then run cause the Y has good spinning classes and it easy access to routes outside to run. I usually use treadmills for when I am recovering, and if I am at a hotel and have no easy outside routes. I a bit weary to ride on the streets here, but will ride in a group when I can, so spinning seems safer until I get my bike muscles up to speed
Thats actually really bad; I use to do Collegiate track and field for 1500M - 5K distances Warm up and Cool down are key, if you dont properly warm up you will not race to your full potential. Whenever i did a outside race with no warm up it would normally cost me the race as my legs felt tight and not warmed up until during the race!
I'm sitting at work watching two men wearing Speedos in a hot tub. I hope nobody walks by and sees this.

Keep at it Walt! I hate stretching with a passion
That pool is awesome.

Great vlog! Very encouraging for an extremely busy new dad. #trainiacnation
I need more videos on this topic. Is it better to brick every bike ride with a short run after, if time is short?
No, because you need some long rides and runs -- they can't all be short. A brick isn't a substitute for an endurance session.
Triathlon Taren thanks i get it!
I want to know more about his training schedule. Hours a day, activities per week, schedule, etc.
His who? Mine?

Just saw this, great ideas for busy folks! I like the inside bike training idea , so this would work with a spinning class and then treadmill right?

We're u in the navy
I've read people saying that skipping warm up/cool down is another way they make their time count. Any thoughts on that?
