It's the Layman take, but it's also unfortunately sort of incorrect too. XDR benefits from a wide net of co-operation for detection. Also, you do not diversity your anti-virus and/or XDR installations across different deployments due to licensing costs, upkeep/maintenance, standardisation, performance & optimization etc. They don't avoid CrowdStrike because it's popular. They choose it because it is good. Similarly, I'd guess that you have an Android or an iPhone.

I recall meeting with Bell Labs decades ago. We were all working in Advanced Technology Centers. The Bell engineers described legacy Federal Communication Commission requirements in place for decades, which mandated "There would always (99.99%) be a dial tone when you picked up the phone, and the network could have no more than a two minute (120 second) cumulative disruption each month. The engineers said "Those rules drove our reliability, which drove our network design. The penalties for violations were severe, including license forfeitures, and eventually, federally mandated competition." Or course, fast forward to multiple cell phone networks and those reliability standards are now extinct dinosaurs.

No, you don't need different systems from different companies because then you'll have the huge problem of integrating different systems to work together. Obviously, the companies involved will not want to disclose any IP information that may be required during the integration process and each company will want to have a bigger share of the market. What you need is a redundancy system whereby everything is mirrored exactly, working on a different pipeline, and hosted in different locations so that should the primary system fail, the redundancy system kicks in immediately or within minutes to take up the slack and prevent mass or long-term outage. Costs? Humongous. Doable? Yes. Will it be done? No.

😂😂 the lady from Gresham college was not very useful. Not sure Mr Bore was all that illuminating either. The issue is you have third party S/W running at the kernel level (eg windows brain) on Windows OSes.There are four 'rings' in an OS sadly everything seems to run either in user space ring 3 or ring 0 (kernel) with full privileges. CrowdStrikes cockup overwrote other parts of memory on the affected machines.
CrowdStrike wrote a paper detailing the fault and MS have written up a blog around an industry seminar that was held recently where this was discussed. The real way to stop this is ban Ring 0 code that isn't MS developed and tested. OR provide a controlled interface instead of the existing free for all.....which won't happen...

The Nakba, or "catastrophe," refers to the 1948 massacre of over 15,000 innocent Palestinians and the displacement of over 700,000 innocent Palestinians by Israel, whose military operations sought the mass murder, displacement, loss of homes, and significant suffering of innocent Palestinian people, with the overriding objective of taking their land to create the self proclaimed "Greater Israel". The events were condemned as immoral and unethical globally, except for in the US.
