In this video you'll find out why I feel the FujiFilm X100V Camera is great for street photography, and why it might be the perfect camera for you.
Well done and I agree.
I’ve never had an issue connecting to my iPhone 11 personally
I’m glad you haven’t had any issues with the app. To be honest, I don’t think I was using it right.
@@davey_gravy anyone experiencing issues, try this!
Be sure your mobile device OS is up to date
Be sure your Cam Remote app is up to date.
Be sure your camera firmware is current.
1. Navigate to your phone's WiFi settings page
2. Power on X100v
3. On the camera menu, navigate to Shooting Settings > Wireless communication and hit OK
4. On the phone, connect to the X100V 'network'
5. On the camera, hit Menu/OK to continue connection to the phone
6. On the phone, navigate to the Fujifilm app
7. Select the images to download from the camera and hit the 'Import' button
8. On the phone, hit OK
9. Power off camera and enjoy your images
Found this a full year later. Great stuff. I loved your video. I have the vi (missed the v), and agree with all your points.
@@ChrisBrogan I thank you for watching it even though it’s a year later, I appreciate it!
thanks for the great video, it reminds me on how great my camera is and makes me want to go shoot again!
Thanks! I also think it’s a fun camera, it makes me want to shoot
This is my favorite camera because I don’t have to edit with the film simulations! Plus I feel cool with it so really pumps my ego.
The ego is a bonus!
Also the flash is goated! 👏🏻
It’s a blessing this has a flash. I’m so bad at the flash! I should make a video learning how to use it
might try and pick up one of these bad boys !
They’re great! Most Fuji cameras are the same, don’t feel like this model is the best, I’m sure it’s not, I just happen to have this one
@@davey_gravy I have an XH-2 but looking for a quickdraw camera for on the go.
Where can I find that thumb grip? That would be amazing for my Lumix!
I would guess that your local camera store has one, I found mine on Amazon
You say there is a lack of options because of the fixed focal length. I find the different simulations and everything you can do with it introduces option stress for me. It would be great to be able to bracket with custom sims. No issues with shooting in the rain?
Great point. I also find it annoying to ALSO pick a simulation to shoot with. I'm thinking of doing a video where I pick a sim and shoot with it for a period of time and see what it's like. Generally when i go out, I pick on sim and stick to it for a few hours.
There is a tracking function on the camera for the built in Film Sims, but not eh recipes that are stored to the custom slots. I also agree, this would be a nice addition!
No issues (yet) shooting in the rain...
@@davey_gravy thanks! Do you tape down all the ingress points? Like microphone and speaker openings?
@@ArafinweYT I didn’t… I probably should have… oops! I just went out and hoped for the best
Nice Jacket :D Got the same!
Nice! It's a great coat
Long underwear? TMI.
This is a love fest for the 100V. Because of the tic-tok pump it is either pay a couple grand for a used body or wait 3-6 months while the camera is on back order. Neither option works for me.
My solution is two-fold. Use the gear I have. I’m not paying a premium or waiting a long time. The 2nd element of the plan is wait for the 100 VI. I want IBIS and the regular Fuji battery . NP126?
Have the 100S/T. They will have to do. I also have the wide angle & tele converter lens. Close enough for government work. Videos like yours make me want to purchase the 100V. It just isn’t going to happen.
Enjoy your camera.

I completely agree! I think using the gear you have to the best of it's ability is a great use of time and resources. I purchased a used X100S a few years ago, loved it, and upgraded to a second-hand X100V before the hype train and inflation happened.
My goal right now is to put a video out weekly based on my opinions, experience and gear. Brainstorming, scripting, writing, filming, editing, titling, thumbnailing and publishing every 7 days (on top of my day job) means I'm just making making making, and improving, forming a voice, etc as i go.. I'm no authority, everything I say is opinion, and I love hearing what you think. Thank you for sharing!
X100V uses NP126/NP126S. I guess X100F was the first to change batteries to NP126. I upgraded from the S to V and there’s a difference in corner-to-corner sharpness if you want to pixel-peep. The increased resolution is helpful too.
I’ve been influenced and now I need this camera
If you can find one for a affordable price, let me know!
Man I wish I could find a decent deal on one. They’re so cool
The people are reselling them for so much, they need to take a chill pill and be kind! Are you eyeing up the Silver body or the Black?
@@davey_gravy I think I like the black one
I agree with you on that one!
Never used a GR3?
I have not used a GR3
That is until you look at the price
What’s wrong with the price?
@@davey_gravynothings wrong with it at all! Its a normal price for a camera , however its very over budget ( from my perspective )
@@Alex-vn8vn I think all cameras are expensive
@@davey_gravy ive got almost the same , pocked sized camera with almost same exact quality - it cost me 300 dollars + the lens which was 200 dollars. So not all cameras ESPECIALLY cameras this small , are that expensive.
Did you say pixel peeping? Is that a thing? Hahaha
It's a massive thing in the camera community! I don't want technical details that dont matter get in the way of usability.
Haha! Yeah. It's when you zoom way in when reviewing your photos to look for imperfections. There's no such thing as perfect though. I don't to keep up with the photography Joneses. It's too stressful! 😆
35mm is only great when you are in crowds, it's obnoxious when you are trying to shoot single subjects with so much useless background, i'm a 50mm man!
I think the 35 mm is amazing, I just need some practice! I do love the 50 thooo
Hey Dave, can you tell us the recipes used in the examples from 1:45 on? Thanks! Great video!
I took those photos a year and a half ago, I can’t remember, I’m so sorry!!!!
You’re not alone in your opinion… I hate the 23mm (35mm FF equivalent)! Even still, the X100V is my favorite camera that I’ve ever used. Have you tried the wide or telephoto converters for the X100V? When I can find one in stock, I want to get the WCL so I can get a 27mm/28mm FF equivalent on the X100V.
I'm glad I'm not alone, that is a great thought! I have a friend with one, I should try borrowing it.
Is anyne rich here?
To give me as a present a camera like this 😢😔😣
Now I need two things. This camera and long underwear.
Long underwear is a staple of being a Calgarian!
Even though I had to pay a few hundred USD dollars more to lock mines in since it’s on back order literally everywhere and receiving mines tomorrow. I hope it was worth it. I use my DSLR more for video with my DJI Ronin Gimbal more. With all the crazy stuff going down, I don’t want to draw too many attention with a bulky DSLR when I’m out shooting. If I’m shooting a event I’ll use the DSLR but for street, hopefully this would help me on the run & gun. I went to a festival recently and I missed out on so many photo opportunities since you can’t bring a DSLR & other pro cameras. I only had my film point & shoots, I went through all the rolls of film I had. I’m super excited to shoot with it.
I hear ya! It does feel wrong to pay more than retail for these cameras, however in the short term I do believe they will hold their value, if you were to use this for a year and sell in 12 months, I’m sure you would only lose a few hundred dollars, which is well worth it for the price of using this camera. I agree that the small form factor and high quality of image is pretty incredible for the size of his camera, stoked you got your hands on one!
I’m trying to ignore how much I want this camera, and this video didn’t help.
I’m so sorry
good stuff…
Yes…
You mention editing due to wanting a different film simulation. Why don’t you use the raw conversion feature in the camera? It’s quite versatile. I have been doing this recently with an older X-E1 with pretty good results.
That’s a great idea actually! Thank you!
Really like the review. Is there no problems with the rain? Or did you add some filter or other part? I hat abound the print quality? Did you try making a poster or print photos? 4:58
Thanks! I’m not sure about the weather ceiling, I am rarely in conditions where it is humid or rain is pouring on my equipment. My assumption is there is no weathersealing. My camera was fine from this day. I have not tried printing any of the Images, but they look no different than my Sony photos
REALLY great video Davey! Loved it!
Thank you for watching! This was one of my most spur of the moment videos, it’s interesting how many people have reacted to this one
Could you please make a video how you set up your fujifilm x100v and what focus settings you use?
No, no, no, The next edition or after the next one. Don't tell the YT Leica Q1-2-3 people that or even worse, the Leica YT analog shooters.
Huh? I don’t understand what you are saying.
@@davey_gravy You stated, this Fuji is the best street photography camera and no, it will be always the next ones, the VI, the VII and so on. You insulted the Leica YT community to saying that. They swear the Q-s are the best. I swear, there is no "best camera" but whoever make the best images, don't matter with what camera. This camera, just a hyped up camera by YT photographers, who are willing to pay double the price for it.Good luck to do master pieces with the best street camera.
@@belaacs5238 I don’t recall stating the Fuji X100V is the best street photography camera, but I do ask that question in the title. This video is not making a statement, it’s my personal firsthand experience. I have a feeling you didn’t watch the video.
What weather resistant lens filter are you using?
It’s actually not weather resistant, as far as I know. I don’t get much rain where I live, this was a wet day out of the blue
Any filter makes it weather resistant
@@DRDRE-cm7qo it does?
