Just set myself up with an account so I can write this ... SO grateful to you for your vids, I've watched most of them now I think . I had a rear wheel deflector come off and destroy four spokes on the freewheel side, and thanks to several of your vids I was able to take my freewheel off so I could fit new spokes AND I got the wheel true :-D EVEN BETTER I then took the hub apart because it was loose and cleaned and regreased it. My bike is like new! Thank you so much!!!
Bikeman, I've got a Shimano Mega Range 7 speed cassette I want to remove. I've got an FR5.2 for Shimano, but it's too big, what tool would you recommend for this? You're the GREATEST....Thanks
I think i own all the freewheel tools, i have Regina 2 notch, Regina spline, Normandy Maillard large spline, Shimano small & standard spline, Suntour 2 & 4 notch, Falcon spline, TDC 3 notch, BMX 2 & 4 notch & flip flop, & Pin spanners, is there any i am missing?
Hello.....Oh Great Bike Master......I own matching His/Her Panasonic Tourist 5-speed FF bicycles, and am looking for the right tool for removing the freewheel. I've used a vernier caliper to get an accurate measurement of the inside diameter where the splines are located. If I measure from the wall between one spline and the next....across to the other side.....I get 0.795". The same measurement from the front edge of a spline across to a spline on the other side comes up 0.765". What tool?
hello bikeman. I've got a loose 5-speed on an old bike of mine. The chainrings are moving quite freely on the hub, making gearing less comfortable. Although replacing it is not a bad idea at all for future purposes, would another solution be to tighten it? Or is the looseness a sign of being outworn? thnx in advance. I do not own any tools yet.
I have an old Schwinn Traveler III (Wow, a 5 speed freewheel!), and I got the freewheel off (FR-1), but want to take the cogs/gears off to clean them thoroughly. It seems like there's a lock-ring on the freewheel with two small holes to rotate it counterclockwise (clockwise spins the freewheel), but I can't loosen it for the life of me. Am I going about it the wrong way? Is it even possible to take the cogs off?
I have an old shimano 5 speed.1rst and 2nd are spiktooth.shimano eagle derailour.the freewheel looks to have 2 little holes in it.Will the fr1 work on it?
bikeman! the clear plastic guard to help protect the spokes on mine is f-ugly dark and i wanna remove it altogether. i'd rather just trust my low limit setting. can i easily remove it once the freewheel is removed? thanks!
what terrain do you ride in? how is the 34t? compared to 28t? I was thinking about going to 34 because i switch to second in the front and usually 1 in the rear if i am slow crusing off road.
In fact, I just found this video of yours: watch?v=6MsyN2hX2nM "Sunlite H-G lock ring tool & chain whip" and the spin-on 5 speed freewheel looks almost exactly like mine. That center ring with the two holes is what I think I need to remove to take the cogs off. Am I going about this the wrong way and the cogs just unscrew on their own, but they're just really damn tight from years of riding?
Bike man we need you in 2024
