After the Eclipse, I Found Something in Texas

- A series of events over the course of 48 hours led me from the depths of a canyon, to Texas to witness the Solar Eclipse, and back into a canyon within which, I find something completely unlike anything I have seen before.
I was blown away by the existence of this thing, and where it was located.
I have unfinished business in this place, and I will have to come back.
The April 2024 Solar Eclipse was incredible, and I was fortunate enough to see it properly. If you managed to see the eclipse- how was your experience?Furthermore - If you have any input regarding the unique geology of the place I was exploring I would love to hear from you below.
Thanks for watching this video. Subscribe to The_POV_Channel to see a lot more like it! I am currently on the road filming and hope to be back on a regular video cadence as soon as possible.

I dont comment often. Im 70 y/o 100% disabled vietnam era veteran ( Womans Army Corp). My dream as a young girl was to explore the SW like you do with my dog. Well my life has been full and i have lived all over the world. Currently retired to Peru. Thank you for fulfilling my youthful dreams. Grandma in Peru 🇵🇪 apreciates you more than you can ever know. Sincerely THANK YOU young man. ❤❤❤❤❤ im now confined to a wheelchair and you give me wings. So much gratitude
Thank you so much for your service. You sound so sweet. Hugs 🤗
@@sage8200 thank you
Thank you SO much for your service and sacrifice 🙏. I’m 75 and lost many dear high school friends to Vietnam….God Bless you Dear One💗💗💗
Thank you. This comment made my day
what are nice comment yeah I wish I could go with him
I like a man who takes a minute to thank his fallen drone for all the hard work. Touching.
🫡🥲 she will fly again
Is that a potensic atom?
It looks like one I can't tell if it has a 3 axis gimbal though
Never mind DJI heh
@@the_pov_channel 3.19. were paying $2 lt, in aus.. thanks to your boss..
@@the_pov_channel the moon was put there.. on purpose..
You made my anxiety level max out when you leaned over that pool of water..
The drone footage..ABSOLUTELY outstanding.....
drone model?
Many thanks
@@qwerty-fi4cj looked like a mini and and dji air2 or 2s
@@StoreRunDotCom Thanks a bunch.
That was incredible!!! The eclipse, the canyon, the pothole; but when you were standing on the ledge over the pothole I was having butterflies worrying that the rock would give way and you'd fall. Sorry about your drone!!
Several videos back, all us 'old folk' were commenting to Nolan how he gives us the heebie jeebies every time he does something scary like that. LOL - But, when I was his age, I did it too!!
At least I resisted the temptation to jump in..
@@the_pov_channel Thank eff for that! I really thought you were gonna jump. Then you, back at the car with no t-shirt on, I thought for a moment you had actually gone and done it! Gave me the jeebs that did!
I was waiting for him to jump in!!! hahahaha
That was scary, I thought of all the people who died while posting for a perfect influencer photo and fell down cliffs etc. Please don't do that again, you could slip and your dog would be alone trying to find help in a huge canyon.
Some of those canyons where water flows during rain in Texas you will find Dynasour prints in the rock when it was still mud thousands of years ago 😮
Those canyons are like history books written in an alien language, so many ancient mysteries hidden within eroded rock layers.
You can't call them aliens anymore. Undocumented Galactic Migrants is the new monicker. Viva Mork from Ork.
Millions of years, one drop of water at a time
When I saw those cliff fangs, I immediately thought...rattlesnake...great video, thanks for sharing.
I immediately thought that he'd found Texas's real horns! lol
I've just watched this, then scrolled thru your other videos. Think I found my new favourite channel to binge watch. Big up!
Your dog is SUCH A GOOD BOY!
My two sisters and I watched the 2024 eclipse from Canyon Lake TX. Way too many clouds. The 'total darkness period' was an amazing experience . (pecos sounds like 'paycos' in texican ) Yep, signs of a big flood from some previous time, even here in Texas. Your pixs with the drone are the best I have ever seen ! Thanks for taking the time, and then for sharing with all of us. fyi...look up Jacob's well and it's history at Canyon Lake - maybe somewhat like your discovery (NNE of San Antonio just north of HY 46). The Lake level there was the lowest that I have ever seen it ! Simply love your adventuristic nature! Blessings to you in this challenging year !
Jacobs well is crazy and a bit scary. cant believe how deep it goes. That was what I was thinking of when I was looking into the pool. Thanks a ton
Can you imagine magnet fishing that hole?
I need to get one of those giant magnets
Very cool. Thank you for sharing the eclipse❤. That canyon was amazing. I truly enjoy your channel. Without channels like yours, there is much of this beautiful country some of us would never get to see. Happy to follow you on any adventure ❤❤
Great drone piloting and enjoyed the sound of the birds
Awesome trip and planning. Thanks for sharing!
Imagine the force of water that sculpted that canyon. Unbelievable!
Wow!!😲😌
Omg! I love your dog. He’s gorgeous!
The boy is more gorgeous. Why is it always the dogs and not the boys?
Thanks. He's special
👍🙏>>>💚~~~ WHAT ARE AMAZING DAY THANKS FOR BRINGING US ALONG 😁💥
VERY VERY COOL NOLAN AND PUPPY...I SPENT 10 YEARS TRAVELING FROM R.I. TO UTAH/NV/ID/AZ...WE SPENDING OUR SUMMERS TAKING CARE OF FS CAMP ALL SUMMER LONG..

VERY COOL ADVENTURE YOU AND PUPPY ARE ON..ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO..STAY AWESOME YOU 2..
Your channel really opened up my interest in rocks and canyons, super cool stuff!!
Amazing! Thank you
I'd rather watch any one of your videos than 97% of programs on regular TV/streaming. Thank you for showing us places most of us could otherwise never experience. Regarding the eclipse, I believe certainly no coincidence but rather the Lord's imprimatur upon His creation. I experienced the eclipse from Dallas area but your video was another exceptional viewing. RIP little drone, you did not perish in vain.
So many things I could say about this video, and your videos in general. But this video touched me the most. when you started getting excited I felt the same excitement I felt getting close to totality, I even shed a couple tears. That is such a special feeling. I grew up on TX. It used to be under an ocean, and there’s all kinds of limestone deposits and marine fossils to be found. I’ve climbed on many. It looks like this canyon as many limestone deposits to see the interesting weathering is fantastic. I also can’t get over the canyon wrens and their spectral songs. Thanks for taking us on this journey with you.
Texas is full of caverns. That could be an opening into a very large cavern. It would probably be awesome to dive it.
great channel man!
As usual great drone video work.😔. Very interesting canyon. I saw partial eclipse here in north western mississippi. Clouds separated enough to be viewed. I’m 78 so I really wanted to see it. Thanks again for your continued videos.
Really glad you go to enjoy it.
So I found this place on google maps and it's so massively underwhelming from there. Especially how that deep pool just looks like some unnotably stagnant puddle. Now I'm double appreciative you could document this little beauty like this from your perspective.
Those canyons look melted. So beautiful
Yeah man those canyon shots are something else. The birds made this video a lot better!
سورج گرہن کی وڈیو تو کمال کی بنائی ہے بہت ہی زبردست ۔
Good job young man . wowwwwww
Loved it. When you get close to the edge it makes me cringe with fear.
Amazing footage of eclipse (and the bridge/channels!) Thanks so much for sharing because us Pennsylvanians didn't see anything interesting that special day.
I love you bro and I love what you have created with this channel. I'm so glad other people found your channel and your work is getting the exposure it deserves. I went up to North New Hampshire to watch totality and I was speechless. My first time seeing one. The lighting was so cool, even 20 minutes before totality. We had crystal clear skies here and I found a nice field to park on. What a special day!! Happy you had such an enjoyable experience too, Nolan. Peace
Your video is the first that I have seen that actually captures HOW dark it got !🎉
That was amazing! I would have wanted to swim in that, but I would also fear what is lurking in the dark... hahaha. Love these explorations. Thanks for taking us along. Greetings from the Netherlands
Nolan, you almost gave me vertigo when you looked down from up top into that pool!!
Your drone footage is TOPS! 🤩👏👏👏👏👏👍
Beautiful drone footage as usual. I've never been to TX. Love the canyon wren. That was a good idea to chase the eclipse. Thanks for taking us. R.I.P drone, you served us well. 🚁 💀
Need to take a diver with you, you are amazing!
My husband, daughter, and I, took off work for the day and drove down to Clarksville Texas. We were so afraid the clouds would cover the whole phenomenon, but they cleared at the crucial moment. It was a momentous occasion.
Love the footage you took..
Not a coincidence for sure..God is awesome for sure 😄
It does seem like it's more than coincidence. What would it's purpose be though? Any ideas?
beautiful views from your Drone! The bridge the train the canyon the Eclipse 😮 you got all that in one video AMAZING 🤩
I loved the video and love to watch you and your dog explore. The canyon pictures were great and I loved the eclipse. In Denver,Colorado area, we only had a partial eclipse.
I know someone commented about your pronouncement of the Pecos River but I lived in the southwest in the 1950's and we said it like Paycos. I look forward to more videos.
very cool video 😍 thx for sharing & taking us along !!
Thank you. Amazing footage. Love your channel. I am in my 70s now but done quite alot of wandering across Africa when i was younger. Not only love the scenery but just the sheer exuberance you have for wild places. Well done.
Thank you so much Nolan. That was (yet another) amazing trip and I enjoyed every moment! The 'pot hole' made me think of a drain!
Bro is a goat walking ledges like that all the time and not slipping. Stay safe 🙏 Alway freaking me out. "Perfect clif jumping spot." Half expected him to jump or fall standing that close! 😅
When the videos stop, you'll know his body is out there, somewhere. Being smart doesn't make a good video. 😵💫
There are pictographs and petroglyphs in the area. Lot to explore.
Great video! I hope you lower a GoPro down that hole next visit.
In direct sunlight this would have worked amazingly. Ill return
Congrats on the eclipse catch! I was north of you by Llano and we snuck in and had a cloud free spot!
Very cool video! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing that amazing journey! The pool you found totally reminded me of the ancient Cistern found in Karahan Tepe, minus the carvings and ornamental atmosphere.
Outstanding video...thanx! I really want to see you jump into that bowl...!
Gas prices are great, but NOTHING beats that Texas BBQ and Tx-Mex! Just discovered your videos and LOVE THEM! They are so beautiful and very peaceful. Thank You for doing them! You have a new fan. Your dog is so cool; WHAT'S HIS NAME?
Awesome! Glad you were able to view it brother.
Great content as usual. That scooped out section with the two bore holes has me stumped, I can't think of a practical use for it
Same. Perhaps an old remnant of where a bridge used to go over that portion of the canyon
Sweet Video! I honestly had no clue Texas had THAT! Wow!
So really great drone shots this episode. Thanx! 👍
When you looked over the canyon edge into the pool, I immediately thought I would have jumped it. Right then and there. 😆
3:41 CORRECTION: The ratio between the relative sizes and distances of the moon and sun are *approximately* 1:1, but the moon's orbit around the Earth (~226K miles - ~252K miles) and the Earth's orbit around the sun (~91.4M miles - ~94.5M miles) are elliptical, meaning that this ratio may be higher or lower than 1:1 at the time of any given solar eclipse, so they do not match perfectly. This ratio at the time of an eclipse determines the eclipse magnitude which describes the percentage of the sun that is obscured by the moon, and typically ranges from 0.92-0.99 for "annular" eclipses and 1.0-1.08 for total eclipses. An annular or "ring of fire" eclipse occurs when moon fully crosses the path of the sun, but is visibly smaller than the sun, allowing the outer ring of the sun to shine brightly in the sky in the form of a ring. The last annular eclipse occured on October 14, 2023.
Here is a list of all of the solar eclipses happening in the current century, along with the eclipse magnitude of each. Out of 224 solar eclipses that will occur, not a single one will have a perfect 1.0 magnitude.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_solar_eclipses_in_the_21st_century
Another interesting tidbit is that due to the fact that the moon is slowly straying away from Earth by about 1.5 inches per year, in about 600 million years total solar eclipses will no longer be possible.

Epic. Thank you for the scientific explanation behind this incredible event. The ring of fire eclipse I saw last October was indeed caused by this disparity you mentioned.
Dude that was epic!!! Sorry for the drone oops! Man that was a crazy ride and a most incredible find ! Now I fly away and will circle back later! Raven out ......
Dope adventure! Thank for sharing this experience!
Canyon, so powerfull..., I like intact nature!
I live in the Austin area and the eclipse was incredible! It was cloudy but, the clouds were moving pretty good so we had a great view.
Canyon Wrens. Bridge at the Pecos (Pay' cos (long O)) River. We are in Texas, but it was completely overcast and spitting rain on and off all day, though it did get black as night when totality was occurring. Oh my God - watch for Rattlesnakes and Copperheads out in West Texas. Water Moccasins, Rattlers, Copperheads and Coral Snakes in the rest of Texas. Not a perfect cliff jumping spot, until you have seen definite proof that there is not a giant boulder lurking right where you would be landing. It's very tight. There are many other spots that you could cliff jump that are proven and not life-threatening. Thank you for sharing the Eclipse for those of us that were there, but unable to see.
That was amazing! Thank you for sharing
Oh my gosh! Mind blown!
Another cool video! Awesome
Just stumbled across your channel….I’m a grandmother and honey BE CAREFUL….Love what you’re doing but mercy so dangerous 💗
Totally mind blowing!!
Love your dog. Please be careful standing on cliff edges like that they could break off. Your mama would be so sad. Thanks for the cool video.
That's the Tomb of the Fangpyre right there
NINJAGO MENTIONED ‼‼‼ WHAT THE FUCK IS BAD STORY TELLING
I am a little impressed that they let you fly a drone close to the border and in commercial airspace...
I love your channel. You've found your freedom. It's always incredible to see what you go and find.
What 'they' don't know can't hurt 'them' 🤫
Thank you...
Have you ever looked at the Texas border on a map? We have bigger problems, than a respectable young man flying his drone on OUR Texas border. Great job, Nolan TY,
@@gail.r.4604 i haven't. What's there?
Very cool video!
Loved the whole video... The canyon would be great to camp at over night...Eclipse was fab...I'm in OZ so we missed it .....thank you again..... blessings darling from Granny Linda in OZ.....
Nice video seeing in texas where you went interesting area keep em coming
Really amazing video, thank you for sharing your adventure! Love Chewy.
Just found your channel. Amazing!! If you’re from Texas the river is called the “Pay-cuss”. 11:59 Just a heads up for future trips. Lots of interesting places around Del Rio and along the Pecos. Had many digs in Indian caves along the river.
❤❤❤ nice video! Thanks for sharing!
That was AWESOME, thank you so much. Wishing you&yours a great week, very best from London
Wow... love the eclipse video start. And the Pecos river too. That river starts in New Mexico, where I'm from and its absolutely beautiful here and clear. On you video looks kinda dirty, but of course it runs many miles down so it may well be polluted, but I can't believe that if its a source of water to humans and crops.
Love your videos..blessings.
Your videos / drone footage, editing are absolutely excellent...excellent eyes for capturing everything perfect for viewers.
That was awesome! Thanks so much! Sorry ’bout the drone though..
That was fantastic thanks sooooo much👍
Amazing eclipse footage and what a cool discovery afterward! The pool reminded me of the cenotes in jungles in Mexico.
You're a good young man.
Good dog too.
Thank you for sharing your adventures 😀
Amazing footage!!! We did the opposite trek and went to the Vermont border! It was incredible! Thank you so much for sharing as well as the bonus footage of the canyons!!
Insane how two totally different parts of the country saw the same thing. Hope you scored!!
That was epic drone footage, could watch that for hours, super interesting canyon. Trippy AF. Bravo.
Funny how the eclipse seemed so exciting, I guess I have seen too many, Lol
Enjoy your adventures and amazing footage, great job!
Epic find!
Awesome Video!! I too saw the eclipse in Tx .. in Wilner.. .. got so dark crazy strange feeling too! Sorry about your Drone! New subscriber! Love your content❤💃
Loved ya videos 📹 🎉❤
I'd been thinking about you, wondering when you'd be sharing your Eclipse adventure with us-and here it is! Amazing, awesome, inspiring, educational, another _WOW_ from Nolan. Thank you so much! And, of course, you just had to walk right up to the edge of that canyon cliff didn't you, LOL!! And, no, you are most certainly _not_ going to "jump it." You hear me! (Oy, vey-kids these days!)
Trains are cool. Long trains are even cooler.
Trains + drones are neat. I have always wanted to try that
@@the_pov_channel you nailed the footage
That was awesome Nolan. Thanks for sharing.
I just discovered your channel and LOVE IT! Live in Dallas and had the same experience w the eclipse (my second). Hiked the Paria w less water, but you brought memories that will never forget. My son just got married to a CA girl snowboarder in Mammoth. I will keep watching your channel! Rosie
Imagine what it would have been like when some of these places were thriving, mega rivers etç.
That was fascinating. Thanks for taking us along. ❤❤
Thank you for sharing the eclipse with us! Was better than anything else I've seen... like actually being there with you! Where I live it was only 60% and cloudy and you couldn't notice anything!
