Pecos (pay-cohs) River bridge on Hwy. 90? The lower Pecos is an area with amazing 4,500+ y/o rock art. I'll never forget the experience of hiking to several sites there & getting to see one of the top "must see" rock art sites in Texas, the White Shaman Preserve. Absolutely amazing. Your drone footage is just stunning!! Thank you!
I am an elderly Army senior officer and love your channel. I hope you come back to TX to the BIG BEND area in the spring. Tx history in geology is amazing, we were at the bottom of an ocean for millions of years. In BIG BEND are the remnants of two CALDERAS. you have just gotten a taste of the wonder of Tx.

Regarding the eclipse, I believe certainly no coincidence but rather the Lord's imprimatur upon His creation. I experienced the eclipse from Dallas area but your video was another exceptional viewing. RIP little drone, you did not perish in vain.
That was incredible!!! The eclipse, the canyon, the pothole; but when you were standing on the ledge over the pothole I was having butterflies worrying that the rock would give way and you'd fall. Sorry about your drone!!

That was scary, I thought of all the people who died while posting for a perfect influencer photo and fell down cliffs etc. Please don't do that again, you could slip and your dog would be alone trying to find help in a huge canyon.
So many things I could say about this video, and your videos in general. But this video touched me the most. when you started getting excited I felt the same excitement I felt getting close to totality, I even shed a couple tears. That is such a special feeling. I grew up on TX. It used to be under an ocean, and there’s all kinds of limestone deposits and marine fossils to be found. I’ve climbed on many. It looks like this canyon as many limestone deposits to see the interesting weathering is fantastic. I also can’t get over the canyon wrens and their spectral songs. Thanks for taking us on this journey with you.

Canyon Wrens. Bridge at the Pecos (Pay' cos (long O)) River. We are in Texas, but it was completely overcast and spitting rain on and off all day, though it did get black as night when totality was occurring. Oh my God - watch for Rattlesnakes and Copperheads out in West Texas. Water Moccasins, Rattlers, Copperheads and Coral Snakes in the rest of Texas. Not a perfect cliff jumping spot, until you have seen definite proof that there is not a giant boulder lurking right where you would be landing. It's very tight. There are many other spots that you could cliff jump that are proven and not life-threatening. Thank you for sharing the Eclipse for those of us that were there, but unable to see.
yeah i agree. im from texas too and another thing i wanna add is that the water sometimes (most times) isnt safe. you can see how murky & spotty the water is in that oasis. one swim inside of it wouldnt hurt but going in for multiple times would get you sick for sure. feel like an old papa saying this but its better to be safe than sorry for finding out whats inside of that water, who knows maybe its a mountain lions spot for doing the same thing. if you do plan going back with some friends be sure to film your amazing adventure!!
My two sisters and I watched the 2024 eclipse from Canyon Lake TX. Way too many clouds. The 'total darkness period' was an amazing experience . (pecos sounds like 'paycos' in texican ) Yep, signs of a big flood from some previous time, even here in Texas. Your pixs with the drone are the best I have ever seen ! Thanks for taking the time, and then for sharing with all of us. fyi...look up Jacob's well and it's history at Canyon Lake - maybe somewhat like your discovery (NNE of San Antonio just north of HY 46). The Lake level there was the lowest that I have ever seen it ! Simply love your adventuristic nature! Blessings to you in this challenging year !
The eclipse was awesome where I’m at. Didn’t get complete totality but it definitely got dark. Sat on the porch and enjoyed the show. You went right by my ranch on your way to the Pecos River. I love this area. I’ve got a decent sized canyon on my place and several caves. I’m half way between the Devils River and the Pecos River with the Rio Grande on the south
My property is at Shumla, TX, 5 minutes north of the Pecos River bridge. Lots of canyons & rockshelters. Got to see totality 20 miles south of Del Rio.
I remember driving over the Pecos river many moons ago and seeing underwater caves or deep holes through clear water. I've always wondered about them, so thank you for taking the time to explore it...or look for your crashed drone, sorry about your loss. Glad you were able to enjoy our great state for a little while. Come back sometime. 😊

My husband, daughter, and I, took off work for the day and drove down to Clarksville Texas. We were so afraid the clouds would cover the whole phenomenon, but they cleared at the crucial moment. It was a momentous occasion.
I loved the video and love to watch you and your dog explore. The canyon pictures were great and I loved the eclipse. In Denver,Colorado area, we only had a partial eclipse. I know someone commented about your pronouncement of the Pecos River but I lived in the southwest in the 1950's and we said it like Paycos. I look forward to more videos.
You should consider carrying a lead line with you on your outings because I, for one, would love to know the actual depth of that pool!😊 Also, you have WAY more faith in rocky ledges holding your weight than I ever will! Please be safe out there!!

WOW! Great video! Glad you enjoyed Texas! I'm not from Texas but got here as quick as I could! We moved to San Antonio in 1959, my Dad always said he could never afford enough gas to get out of the state! LOL! The last five years I worked I transported and installed flexible water to a lot of oil wells all over Texas. Spent about 4 months installing around Pecos, sometimes we were 20 miles or so out in the desert, best part of the job!

Nolan, I'm a native Texan, but I live on the East side of the state from where you experienced the eclipse and the awesome river canyons out west. I just want to help you out in case you ever come back to the state. We are funny about the way we pronounce some things in Texas. Pecos is pronounced as ' pay-cose' the 'pe' is pronounced with a hard 'a' as in 'pay' check. The 'cos' is pronounced like the 'ose' in the word 'close'. PAY-COSE. I hope you can come back again. I really enjoy your videos. I love West Texas and there is so much to see in the state especially out West.

Texas, a whole different country! I used to fish in Pecos river canyon, on the Rio Grande there are caves ,panther cave being one with native American pictographs. You can get lost easily down the back roads in that part of Texas. Gotta watch out for ratlers though.

Spent a lot of time out there in my youth, I've even done a little cave camping on the pecos right near the high bridge. An observant traveler will notice that when the land gets less rocky out that way it begins to get sandy and looks like a sanded river bottom with crests and valleys Those crests are huge, the amount of water that has flowed across that land is unfathomable.
Very cool video. In that place where thw wall of the canyon wall overhangs the pool, when you stuck the camera out and pointed it straight down, I found myself involuntarily pushing my chair away from the desk! You're a braver man than I, Nolan Fisher! Heights like that give me the willies! Keep it up, though. My heart rate hasn't shot up like that in a long time!

I was in Kerrville Texas for the eclipse with my best friend and her family and a very good friend I've known since about 1982. At 70, I suspect I'll never see another one. My best friend is 71, her sister is almost 81 and her brother is 73, or 74. My other friend, who is in worst shape than I am, she will turn 70 sometime around now. Oh, and Pecos is said "pay-cose." In Canyon Texas there is what is called the "Grand Canyon of Texas." I'm sure you know that limestone is a soft material making it easily erode.
Those rocks are so different. Like a volcanic/sandstone from all the water wear and tear. Cool find. Glad u found your drone even tho he died. Crazy west Texas canyons!
I just got back from AZ, NM and CO and wow the bugs, I had to get that bug remover and clean the car, took a while. I went down in Carlsbad Canerns, its pretty cool. We found some really crazy cactus in one area, like a Dr Seuss book.
Wow... love the eclipse video start. And the Pecos river too. That river starts in New Mexico, where I'm from and its absolutely beautiful here and clear. On you video looks kinda dirty, but of course it runs many miles down so it may well be polluted, but I can't believe that if its a source of water to humans and crops. Love your videos..blessings.

Mr, Fisher when you stood at the edge looking down on the canyon at Pecos towards that water hole you had me hollering!! Don't do that!! You scared me half to death. You could have went over. At least in my mind you could have and what a loss that would have been.
Great video, Nolan! Texas is my home state and I've never seen that canyon, but lived in West Texas, been to the Pecos (Pay kos) River many times and the observatory, in the Davis Mountains, camped in the Palo Duro Canyon in the Panhandle, which is over 100 miles long, and now live in East Texas.

Some of those canyons where water flows during rain in Texas you will find Dynasour prints in the rock when it was still mud thousands of years ago 😮

I live in the Austin area and the eclipse was incredible! It was cloudy but, the clouds were moving pretty good so we had a great view.
I loved the video and love to watch you and your dog explore. The canyon pictures were great and I loved the eclipse. In Denver,Colorado area, we only had a partial eclipse.
I know someone commented about your pronouncement of the Pecos River but I lived in the southwest in the 1950's and we said it like Paycos. I look forward to more videos.

This ratio at the time of an eclipse determines the eclipse magnitude which describes the percentage of the sun that is obscured by the moon, and typically ranges from 0.92-0.99 for "annular" eclipses and 1.0-1.08 for total eclipses. I'm not from Texas but got here as quick as I could! We moved to San Antonio in 1959, my Dad always said he could never afford enough gas to get out of the state! LOL!
The last five years I worked I transported and installed flexible water to a lot of oil wells all over Texas. Spent about 4 months installing around Pecos, sometimes we were 20 miles or so out in the desert, best part of the job!

Nolan, I'm a native Texan, but I live on the East side of the state from where you experienced the eclipse and the awesome river canyons out west. I just want to help you out in case you ever come back to the state. We are funny about the way we pronounce some things in Texas. Pecos is pronounced as ' pay-cose' the 'pe' is pronounced with a hard 'a' as in 'pay' check. The 'cos' is pronounced like the 'ose' in the word 'close'. PAY-COSE. I hope you can come back again. I really enjoy your videos. I love West Texas and there is so much to see in the state especially out West.

Texas, a whole different country! I used to fish in Pecos river canyon, on the Rio Grande there are caves ,panther cave being one with native American pictographs. You can get lost easily down the back roads in that part of Texas. Gotta watch out for ratlers though.

Spent a lot of time out there in my youth, I've even done a little cave camping on the pecos right near the high bridge.
An observant traveler will notice that when the land gets less rocky out that way it begins to get sandy and looks like a sanded river bottom with crests and valleys
Those crests are huge, the amount of water that has flowed across that land is unfathomable.

In that place where thw wall of the canyon wall overhangs the pool, when you stuck the camera out and pointed it straight down, I found myself involuntarily pushing my chair away from the desk! You're a braver man than I, Nolan Fisher! Heights like that give me the willies! Keep it up, though. My heart rate hasn't shot up like that in a long time!

I was in Kerrville Texas for the eclipse with my best friend and her family and a very good friend I've known since about 1982. At 70, I suspect I'll never see another one. My best friend is 71, her sister is almost 81 and her brother is 73, or 74. My other friend, who is in worst shape than I am, she will turn 70 sometime around now. Oh, and Pecos is said "pay-cose." In Canyon Texas there is what is called the "Grand Canyon of Texas." I'm sure you know that limestone is a soft material making it easily erode.
Those rocks are so different. Like a volcanic/sandstone from all the water wear and tear. Cool find. Glad u found your drone even tho he died. Crazy west Texas canyons!
I just got back from AZ, NM and CO and wow the bugs, I had to get that bug remover and clean the car, took a while. I went down in Carlsbad Canerns, its pretty cool. We found some really crazy cactus in one area, like a Dr Seuss book.
I used to live in west Texas. There are some mind boggling and incredibly cool places there. Brings back some good memories. Thanks, Nolan.

Wow... love the eclipse video start. And the Pecos river too. That river starts in New Mexico, where I'm from and its absolutely beautiful here and clear. On you video looks kinda dirty, but of course it runs many miles down so it may well be polluted, but I can't believe that if its a source of water to humans and crops.

Great video, Nolan! Texas is my home state and I've never seen that canyon, but lived in West Texas, been to the Pecos (Pay kos) River many times and the observatory, in the Davis Mountains, camped in the Palo Duro Canyon in the Panhandle, which is over 100 miles long, and now live in East Texas.
