What a brilliant place, I must pop in when I’m in the area this spring. You’re so right Lee, we all need a good helping of nostalgia right now, it’s the perfect antidote to the craziness of the world we’re living in. Did I spy a Standard Ten? ( wasn’t sure) We had one of those when I was a very young child and it seemed to break down every time we went out in it🤣 That motorbike and sidecar reminds me of my lovely grandad, he used to take me out in his.... happy days. Thanks for the memories Lee, that was great 👍🏻 ❤️
Hiya Lee! What a different video from you! We need more of these which don’t just include eating and drinking somewhere. So refreshing to look at the cars, buses, motorbikes. Scooters, fire engines etc it does bring back memories and nostalgia. I love warm scones but yours looked amazing. I don’t have an argument as to if put jam or cream on first as it all goes in the same way and will taste the same no matter. As for tea i our tea in first and then milk afterwards. Same again it’s your preference as goes in the same way
Good morning Lee. A very Beautiful and Stunning place you have Chosen. Yes, ofcourse Nostalgia keeps us Strong and remembering a much Happier and Comfortable time that we spent growing up. You said in your video, that you owned a Raleigh Chopper Mk 2 bike, i won a Special prize that Raleigh was giving away to the Winner of a competion that they were running. It was to name a new planet, like Earth. I named it Cosma Terra. I won the Competition and i was sent this One off Special bicycle that Raleigh had made. It was a Commando Star, twist grip gear change. It was painted in Commando decals. What a Fabulous Prize i had for a few years. What a Joy Lee, to see such Excellent and bygone vehicles that had Character, Soul, Beauty, Cherishable Appeal. Great museum and Beautiful lovely little Cafe/ Restaurant to have some Food and a nice drink. Glad you enjoyed your day out Lee. 😁😁😁👍👍👍👍👍
Wonderful video Lee- If that doesn't put a smile on everyone's face, there's no hope for them - uplifting in a world full of doom & gloom - keep up the great work mate, it's so refreshing to see your face light up with the memories so many of us recall.
Awesome video. Mega THANKS! I'm 59 and remember the Capri from around 1971 -- it was a nice car. I also remember cars such as the Austin Cambridge, Zephyr, Ford Cortina, Anglia, and the Vauxhall Viva. When we moved to Canada my dad bought a Pontiac Catalina -- I sure was impressed -- it had air conditioning, a cigarette lighter, radio, nice lighting, big comfortable seats, and you didn't have a crank like our Hillman Minx back in Scotland. THANKS again!!
Amazing place, will be on my list of places to visit. Glad the food was good, you haven't had much luck with food lately but you can't beat a fresh home made scone with jam and clotted cream. Thank you for the vlog, really enjoyed it!!
It's Scone as in gone and Jam first here in the North East Lee. What a great museum. Spent all my childhood summer holidays in Keswick so I know the Lake District well.
Hi Lee, I can remember growing up in my teens and my dad going to Blackton fords and buying a new ford capri. I think the year was 1984 and was a 2.8 injection in Caspian blue, I can still remember the reg YTO 189Y.
We loved this vlog, love museums like that! In the 80’s, my Dad’s first car was a Ford Granada, and Mum’s was a Mini! I’m Scottish, so it has to be SCAWN! 🤣👍🏻
I’m from Barrow (still live here) and I used to come here every month with my grandfather. He used to bring his classic car to the shows and we did it for years until he passed away. Aside from the museum, the food at the ambio cafe is still absolutely wonderful , I went a few weeks back and the burger was stunning. Would highly recommend visiting whilst in the Lake District.
Hi macmaster, loved that nostalgia, took me back to the 60s when I used to have a blue tin pedal car, and and a tricycle, which I went to fast round the back garden path and tipped over into the sand pit 🤣 Happy Days 😁👍
My very first car 1963 Ford Cortina ,, ( I was seventeen at the time ) ,, and many, many moons later we just bought a 2021 Chevy Camaro a couple of months ago, 3.6 V6, ten speed automatic, paddle shifters, 20" wheels etc. etc. A beautiful driving machine but I sure have fond memories of my lovely Cortina ,,, great video !
You're right Lee it's Scone as in 'own' .. lol .. in 1983 I bought a brand new Mk1 Fiesta XR2 cost me £4700, at the time a brand new Capri S was 6 grand,my budget wouldn't stretch that far.Great video, loved the chopper bike too, great memories.
Hiya Lee, great seeing all the old cars and bikes. Good video. My first car was M2 Escort. Great fun. Especially on an icy day. The back end would swing-out. Lol. Have a lovely evening.
blame the wind tunnel for car shaping these days Lee, basically 1970/80's cars was as aerodynamic as a garden shed, they are designed these days to move the airflow to their desired positioning, to assist in road handling and holding, great museum a café racers dream. great collection of bikes with and without a motor.
Loverly day out by the look of it , really enjoyed your vlog today. Yes the Cornish way is jam first cream next, I owned a capri mk 11 when I was younger, and my dad had a capri mk1 consul ,like the one in the museum. As kids we called it the bat mobile because of its bat stroke fish tail back wings. Massive boot, hard bench back seat, but loverly car , wish I’d got it today.
Great stuff Lee. Visited there in the early 90s. Some of the cars on display now would have still been abundant on the roads then. Sure the place has been extended as it looks loads bigger than I remember. I love the Capri as well (I owned a 1976 2.0 GL for a few years). The Cortina Ghia next to the Capri looked fabulous as well. I’d be spending hours there if we go again 👍🏼😁 As for the scone…the way you pronounced it is dead right… scone as in ‘bone’ 😊
Really glad I watched this video as it took me back to my childhood in the 70s and early 80s. I nearly didn't watch it as I'm not a petrol head but what a wonderful museum. I had a Grifter myself - for some reason a Chopper was deemed to be unsafe by my parents. I remember the sign on the saddle about not carrying passengers but kids always did. They were great for wheelies too. I loved my Grifter though - until it got nicked from our garage! I grew up in Longbridge in Birmingham and my dad worked at the car works so I loved all the car nostalgia too. Bodie and Doyle were my absolute favourites too - who wouldn't want a Capri? Thanks for a great video. PS I think there was equally depressing stuff going on back then: the oil crisis, three day week, mass unemployment, terrorism, but we were more protected from it as kids! Look forward to the next vlog and hope the electric car gets you to Scotland!
What a fantastic place, I’ll definitely take a ride up there on my bike when the weather warms up, my mates would love it too. Thanks for sharing especially the cutting room floor bits!! 😂👍
Fantastic Lee loved watching this visited it 20 years ago and brought back great memories being the same age as you felt very nostalgic I now own a Raleigh chopper at great expense to me !!!! Glad you had a great day fella
Brilliant vlog Lee. Definitely putting this museum on my must do list when I'm next in the Lake District. What a finale......that scone looked delicious ,🤗
Great video Lee. If you like old cars and nostalgia then next time you are around the Cotswolds then the Motor Museum in Bouton-on-the-water may interest you. It's where the children's TV series "Brum" was filmed. It's such a lovely part of the world, oldy worldy pubs, tea rooms and a chippy. Have a look, it's worth the trip. I meant to have mentioned it when I recommended Kemble airfield a while ago. The village has the nickname "little Venice" plus there's a model village too. Also if you like Railway nostalgia may I recommend "The Sidings Hotel" near York, have a look, I love it there.
What a fantastic day you must have had! that scone looked delicious those cars were awesome looking. 10/10 for quality of the video very professionally done top marks Lee. 🏅
Of course you’re right in every sense. Jam first. Scone like stone. Museum looks brilliant. I have a massive collection of Corgi and Dinky cars brand new in boxes. Looking for somewhere like this to have them displayed..!
Amazing stuff in there! The trouble with the world today is it’s gone soft everyone is labelled or put in a category and now you can never say to anyone “just get on with it!!”
What a great video! Where to start? I love nostalgia, especially old cars and that place looks WAY UP there on me to do list! My papa had a Ford Capri and my uncle had a Mk 1 Ford Fiesta - memories! I also love old advertising and road signs, that place looks CRAMMED full! My first bike was a Raleigh Budgie (the little brother of the Chopper, no gears but a very similar design) while my second bike was a Raleigh Grifter GS, which was a limited edition, upgraded from the bog standard models but just below the XL. I honestly wish I still had them! And as for that scone (rhymes with gone!) that looked utterly amazing! I’d definitely say that was money well spent on both the museum and the scone (rhymes with gone!) Another great vid Lee! 😀
Love George & Mildred! Got them all on dvd including the film. When I saw the bike and sidecar though, my first thought wasOlive and Arthur from On The Buses 😂😂😂
Amazing vlog mac and im watching this on my birthday nostalgia loved every minute. Had a chooper grifter in blue and a burner bmx. And my mate won a c5 we had a fun childhood. I will have to drive up to vist the museum.
I’ve Didn’t realise I’d not finished my comment LOL I was going to say I exhibited my Classic Car here a few years ago it’s a Gem of a Museum a must visit for anyone coming up to the Lakes
That museum looks like a great place to visit. I used to drive a Mark 1 Fiesta after I passed my test (the family runaround) before I bought myself a 2nd hand Sierra, but I too wanted a Capri because of my heroes Bodie and Doyle 😊
I remember visiting this museum a few years ago with my dad, sister, brother in law and the dog. I loved it. Took some videos that day have since lost them. I am extra gutted because we lost the dog last September.
There are some excellent Classic Car shows on throughout the Summer in Blackpool, Lytham St Annes, Burnley and Southport. I go to all of them and they are all free. You can talk to the owners and some let you sit in the cars. Lakeland looked ok but i noticed most of the cars are cordoned off so you cant see inside. I also used to love the modern motor shows in London years ago and always came home loaded up with car brochures.
Awwwe brilliant vlog Lee, me dad used to take me here as a child to visit! We love vintage transport and used to visit alot of places like this in the early 90s (some i dont think exist now sadly). thanks for the memories, it was like being back there. 10/10 on the scone! A lovely bouncey fresh treat.
A few years back did a round robin trip on the boat from Bowness. Start around 10 am from Bowness down to Lakeside ( Aquarium visit ( 1 hour) after got bus outside takes you to car museum then bus back to lakeside. Then the boat full length up to Ambleside an afternoon tea and then back down to Bowness. Had the added bonus of some low flying RAF jets doing the flight over Windermere. Did this in May on the 29th which was my birthday.
butter first on the scone with an e .....not scon, then jam and then cream of course. What a great vlog. Loved seeing those cars and I even saw the pedal car I had as a small child. Brilliant! I love the Capri as well (drove a few). They weren't great in the wet though. See you on the next one
I loved looking at the classic cars and bikes at the Lakeland Motor Museum Lee... If classic cars had the reliability of modern day cars... I'd have the classic cars every time... The colours were fantastic back then too... Unfortunately, White... Black... and Silver cars are mostly on our roads today... And most colours they do have these days are dull and lifeless... A friend of mine in the late 70's had a bright Yellow Ford Capri... Another had a bright Green Mini Cooper... And my old school teacher used to drive a bright Orange Ford Cortina... My best friends dad had a beautiful bright Red Hillman Imp... All fantastic colours!... And they all had that certain smell... Maybe it was the smell of real leather and wood... Who knows... But they had an intoxicating odor i just love... The smell transports me back to a happier time in my life... You could blindfold me and stick my head through a modern car, and a classic cars open window at random... And the smell would identify them easily... The classic cars have a unique smell that just can't be replicated... It must have brought you back a few happy and nostalgic memories being so close to home Lee... The Tea & Scone looked lovely... And what a spot to sit at, where you could actually see your mum's house from the Cafe table you were sitting at... Loved the visit and the tour around both museums... What else can i say mate!... It's an easy 10/10 from me... All the best... Cheers Lee. 🍺
You should visit the Scarborough fair collection. It's an indoor museum with old cars, buses and loadsa steam traction engines and vintage rides for only a quid a go. We took the kids at the weekend and they thoroughly enjoyed it and we're amazed at the old cars. The fair is located on the grounds of Flowers of May campsite between Filey and Scarborough and is only open from April to October.
Argh how cool was that vid, I had a chopper and a grifter too amazing there’s still some around, thanks Lee will defo put on my list to visit, hope the rest of the trip goes well, really enjoyed it so far.👍🏻
I went there a few years ago with my dad. Looks strange seeing a MK1 fiesta as that was my first car. We went there to see the Vincent motorcycles there as my dad has one. It's an amazing place to stop and see.. great vlog Lee.....
Lee that was one of the best vlogs ever you was so enjoying every minutes of it you are on a nostalgic trip . Sad that Booths let you down thinking about your mum but i hope you made up for it with this one . ford capri was a classic but never had one my great car memory was the ford Cortina mark 11 and the ford escort mark 11 but i also have to admit i had a Skoda but i will forget that . have a great time in Scotland looking forward to the nexed one and to you with DJ when you get back to London.
What a lovely vlog Lee, great to have a wander down memory lane and a nice tribute to your mum, just a feel good vlog, also that scone looked absolutely delicious and you got it right with cream on last, 😀👍
I love old cars, much nicer to look at than the ones we have now.

My first car bought in 1971 was a 1955 Ford Pop that cost me 20 quid. I had it for a year and sold it for 12 pounds 50p !
Now that took me back. I saw a car in there I actually owned. An Aston Martin DB 5. Best model Corgi ever made.

Put simply, AWESOME.
i had a 3.0 capris loved that car. 👍

I went there a few years ago with my dad. Looks strange seeing a MK1 fiesta as that was my first car. We went there to see the Vincent motorcycles there as my dad has one. It's an amazing place to stop and see.. great vlog Lee.....
