- Wargame Design Studio have taken on the old John Tiller wargames and updated them with a better user-interface, improved game-AI and constant polish to the rulesets.
I love this game engine, it's my favourite wargaming system. I've not played any of the Squad Battles series before, plus I don't own any WW2 games from WDS, so Eagles Strike felt like a good choice!
If you want to try one of these games before you pay any more, you can download a free demo of the Squad Battles series "Grenada" here: wargameds.com/...

For anybody interested, WDS put some really helpful tips for these Squad Battles games here:

Really well-explained overview! I'm a strategy gamer who recently discovered Wargame Design Studio within the last few years, and I am so impressed with the quality of their games and their dedication to constantly improving them. They definitely deserve to have their games be seen more.
Hey thanks, glad you liked it! The Squad Battles series is new to me so I didn't play very well here (my second attempt I did a lot better though, armed with some knowledge on the mechanics).
I completely agree, their games are phenomenally good. I think Fulda Gap '85 is one of the best wargames I've ever played, it's just such a well designed masterpiece.
I remember playing this a long long time ago. I loved SL and ASL and this series always gave me those vibes.
It's a really good game and the lick of paint it has had recently makes all the difference, it's looking like a lot more modern a game now.
Glad to see a wargame on your channel! I stayed away from the JTS/WDS ones because of the UI, my loss I guess :/ I like that the game has a detailed manual.
The new UI is a lot nicer, it looks and feels a lot more modern but don't expect miracles, it's still got some stuff that might put off people who aren't open minded to older games.
20 something y.o. big pixel tactics for $0, seems like it's worth a dig.
You were questioning the scale, I had a look at the website and it said this:
The game scale is 40 meter hexes and 5 minute turns.
Thanks Droog! Yes I checked the site too and found it, unusually it's not in the manual (or at least, I didn't see it!)
Definitely check the free demo out, it's called Grenada and is set in the conflict of the same name from the early 80s (I think?)
How could you not show off them 3d graphics?
I forgot lol! I rarely use them though, they're not easy to read
oh, so you have squads with m1,m1,m1 and support of m1 while wearing m1 and m1?
i wish there was an option to turn off turn limit and conquer everything and alied victory condition...
@@Funnydz2 wargames tend to be VP based
@@battlemode I just ended up using editor to set turn limit to 1 and then continued playing afterwards :)
