If I had the money and I came across a faberge egg I buy it - however I would not keep it to myself locked up- I’d loan it to a museum so others could enjoy it. Because what is art if it’s not enjoyed by others. I don’t get these people who own these amazing objects are they are locked in vaults or draws or on shelves in private collections. I’m one of those who thinks art should be enjoyed by the asses so would make sure everyone could come and see this amazing artefact.
Most of the photos here are of fake eggs or replicas. For eg, there is no red or blue Lillies of the valley egg, and no eggs are similar to each other or are inspired from each other, every egg is unique.
The level of detail on these artifacts is amazing, I can't imagine some poor guy sitting there crafting those tiny gold hinges to go on the carriage door of the Coronation Egg, straining to look at his work under a jeweller's loupe, late at night, by gas-light. Talk about ere-strain! Wow!

There will never be such an artisan again like Carl Faberge.
yes .. Astonishing craftsman
Fabrege Eggs have become a LITERAL easter egg hunt.
It's amazing that so many are intact. People can't help but treat them gently, it seems.

Good material, but way too many shots of modern replicas.
