The only thing I don't like about is screen it looks like they just mounted a iPad in the center they could of came up with something better. Horizontal would look better and something that was built in the dash alot better

Finally decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on something new. I have this exact spec on the way. Cannot wait. Dealer was great. Straight forward, no markup, and 3200 off msrp. 2.9 rate with flex finance (which it will be paid for before payment goes up) Sold.
I was tempted to keep my 2015 Explorer Sport for many years after paying it off, but damn I’m tempted to get an ST! Haha especially since Im finding lots of slightly used STs out there with around 14k miles.
I love my ST best truck i ever owned. I am on my 5th explorer. Had 4 Sports now the ST. Love it. It’s right up there with my Dodge Ram 1500 Best truck on the road.
Before my 20 ST, I had a b8 Audi s4 for fun time, and a 2014 ford transit connect for more daily use and Uber workhorse and overall super handy van, although slow and wonky transmission. Both had over 100k on the odometer, and a starter and front control arms on the s4 left me concerned at the labor price. When my dad was alive, he had plenty of people who worked out of their garages, but since he passed away, this advantage is gone with an amazing person. Decided I wanted to get something that would do the jobs of both vehicles in one with a warranty. Although I was attached to both of them, it was the right thing to do financially. I traded them both in, and threw some cash in as well for down payment on one without either of the 2 brake packages, but with all the tech options and I absolutely love it. So much more comfortable than the s4, being 6'3 240. I didn't even really realize how uncomfortable I was in the small 4 door, till I started driving the st on the regular. Certified pre owned warranty to 100k. Gotta get the new Ford performance tune asap. The only thing I can complain about is something car and driver also said, is that the steering is needlessly heavy. I especially noticed it after driving my mom's 2020 Volvo xc 90 recently. Also, these things are nit picky, but I decided to list them. Would it have been so hard to resume what drive mode I was using previously when I start it up again? In the same vein, couldn't they have allowed the ambient lighting to cycle through the available colors? The following might be considered a bit of a rant: The nannying of being unable to use the infotainment in motion, when the car can keep itself in the lane, and follow behind the car in front of it. With these features engaged and a hand on the wheel, they could have enabled use of everything and still have been "responsible" in their implementation. The same goes with no video playback supported. Why? We're adults and we paid good money for these things. I hope one day, we see operating systems to replace these annoying things on the infotainment system of vehicles. Sorry about this rant at the end here.
I loved my 2022 ST. Boy does it move and handle. It carries the entire family and gear when we are on the move. When my current lease is completed I will get another.
@@mdaddy336 How did you come to that conclusion from what he said? Some people prefer to lease so that maintenance is free and you can get a new version every couple years. Even if not leasing, ford has some really good financing options so buying out right doesn't always make sense.
Yes good video, if I could make one suggestion it would be to slow down the words per minute as I had to rewind a few times to catch what you were saying, granted my hearing isnt what it used to be but think I represent a lot of viewers who have some hearing loss or a bit of tone deafness , thank you !

I have 2022 ST. I cross shopped; Audi, Porsche, Bronco. I love this vehicle. Its quick, comfortable, and easily tows my 3500 lb axle utility trailer with 3000 lbs of soil, or, recently , gravel. Its also an "everyman's car', in my rather expensive neighborhood, (Ferraris are nor uncommon) and so gets lots of admiring looks and comments. The screen sucks and is a ridiculous waste of space, especially the stupid backup camera layout. I use my 2022 r1250gs for errands, and grocery runs however.

I like the rear wheel drive, it does have better interior materials then old one, but it looks like different Hyundai... I still like the previous gen better including the interior styling where dash goes smooth into door and center console connects up to dash better, this interior has weird protruding junks with tablet afterthought, 400hp and even higher torque to rear wheels id great, but so is 10k cheaper smaller V8 Durango... Looks wise I would like previous gen Explorer more them Durango, but not this one
Love the ST but I would buy a used 2020. Make sure I get that 2 bolt diff instead of the one. If I was getting it just to stay stock power the 1 would be fine but I wanna mod one 😂

Why does ford put one of those vertical screen in new cars. Those looks like an iPad 1🤦♂️ I couldn’t believe they put the new horizontal screen and high end interior in Chinese spec cars, but not the US ones.
Red brake calipers do not denote that it’s an ST model. They are a part of the track package. My 2020 ST does not have the track package and no red calipers.
The performance of the ST is good, but the build quality of the Explorer is abhorrent (Cheap plastic everywhere) It's a shame, it really could be something special.

I was taking my 2019 Ford mustang to the service department and went over to the show room to look at the explorer ST. I figured why not. When I got back to the service department, and started chatting with my service advisor about the car. She said do not get the explorer. That it was one of the most unreliable trucks she had dealt with.She said they were always coming in for some sort of issue. That was enough for me to consider other vehicles, because I seriously was considering the explore as a more practical family hauler. That sucks, because it seemed to have so much potential

Ugh... Why are manufacturers using these ugly infotainment displays? It looks like a tablet stuck in a docking station. I'm for the bigger displays, but make them integrated into the dash.
I like the look of the newer Ford Explorers (in person), but Ford quality is subpar. My family has been buying Fords for over 20 years, and the interiors are like cheap plastic on every one. Also the engineering/design/placement is terrible and hard for a DIYer to do anything. I like these and would like to buy one, but I think I’m personally done with Fords. Sadly, Hyundai/Kia and GM are the only good players left.
Did Ford just duct tape an iPad to the dash? This is just another example of how American auto companies always lag far behind their foreign competitors when in comes to styling. Add to that the cheap materials they use throughout the interior, and you quickly realize that there are much better options available.

Vertical is ugly and sucks with many things but when using navigation or Google Maps/iMaps, Vertical is king.

They make 2 models, make sure you choose the correct package.

Dodge Durango has one of the best 3 row seats. I’m 6’1 225 and sit comfortable back there.
This one has no roof rack… is that new for 2023? My 2022 has the rack and I was recommended not to remove it.
Roof rack is an option I believe along with the cross luggage bars if you want them. My 2022 came with the roof rails but no cross luggage bars.
SUGGESTION: DROP AND TUNE IT. PUT IT ON A CARBON FIBER DIET. THE NEW NAME: EXPLORER R. PERFECT FOR CANYON CARVING AND AUTOCROS!!!!

No change in the North America models for 2023
And they are still using SYNC 3 when all of Ford's other vehicles have switched to SYNC 4. The new 2023 MY is already outdated.

The ST is its own animal, other trim levels have some issues ( like any car company ) but the ST is as solid as they come for the money.

This car is a beast compared to the loser models of the explorer. This is an ST performance vehicle. Get it right.
