    I have lived in both countries. Canada is a lot more expensive country to live in compared to the UK. Food, house prices, TV, broadband, cell phones to name but a few. The weather is a lot better in the UK, less extreme.more temperate. I don't know why the video selected London as a price guide. Everyone knows London is an extremely expensive city to live in. Try a small town in the Midlands for a more accurate comparison.

    I moved from the UK to Canada back in 2015 when I turned 19. I was fortunate to get the opportunity to stay in this wonderful country. It is superior to the UK in terms of quality of life. So much space, nature and SOO clean!! Low crime, nice people and most importantly, you make a lot more for most jobs here than you can in the UK. I make around 67000 here in Edmonton, Canada for being a teacher, just over 40000 British pounds. In the UK, a teacher with my years of experience is making no more than 22000, about 380000 Canadian. The UK does have more interesting cities than Canada does though I must admit. Many cities outside of Toronto Vancouver and Montreal lack culture and soul that most UK cities have

      @Ibbz Joseph - your comment is quite interesting and I'm intrigued to learn more from you if you'd care to share information. I'm looking to immigrate to Canada as a teacher. I have loads of experience and a university degree and Post Graduate, but I currently teach in South Africa. Would you have any advice for me in terms of immigration to Canada with teaching in mind as a career path? I'm desperate to try find a viable route to achieve that goal but I constantly seem to be hitting dead ends with making it happen from my home country, specifically when it comes to the precise steps to follow to get my qualifications recognized for teaching in Canada and also applying on the correct section of the Canadian government's website. Express entry requires certain documents to be uploaded first specifically the language test and also my certified South African qualifications. If I spend the money to pay for these two steps, what would be the chances (do you think) of me getting invited to apply for PR? Is teaching a viable option over in Canada? Has it been possible for you to easily find teaching work or has it been a difficult process for you to settle over there? I'd appreciate any advice you could give me please?

    • @ibbzjoseph3841
      @ibbzjoseph3841 3 года назад +7

      @@figurecollector82 if you can get your qualifications transferred to Canada, you can always have work as a teacher. If you don't have a permenant job yet, the school board of your city will put you on the list as a substitute teacher so you can fill in for missing teachers at schools in your city that day. You can get work every day and get paid the same as a sub teacher without a permenant position. The challenge is getting Canadian qualifications or qualifications that can be matched in Canada so you can teach.

    Lovely video. Am born in UK, travel to beautiful Vancouver & Toronto for family visits. All are pretty, BC has landscape similar to UK, very pretty, white rock beach walk away healthy living clean air. Toronto, lake very pretty lots of joggers, flat landscape wide roads, lovely polite people in Canada. England has more historical culture and sights to see especially around London. Homes of course UK smaller and expensive because country smaller. Canada houses we stayed at were pretty huge and open plans more modern. Seems average pay better and cost of living lower especially petrol/gas UK its expensive. My cousin born in UK moved to Toronto, he said plus points and minus but he loves Canada life. Outdoors and motor biking. For health UK has NHS so its free here but can pay for private health care or take insurance sometimes via work get it too. My sis in law from Belle Vue wanted to move to London as she's worked here a few times, she has a good career and said its more fashionable in UK, I found that too. I considered Vancouver its so pretty and healthy friendly lifestyle seems quite, its obviously cheaper living costs outside of London other UK cities but still expensive, southern cities more expensive but more jobs usually and slightly warmer climate. Vancouver weather seemed similar to UK. Toronto I've seen extreme summer hot and extreme weather in winter, colder than UK goodness, too cold for me, -14c I wrapped up warm. UK worst might be average-4 in winter. Best of luck guys.

    In Canada, most of the country's population sits within 150 miles of the US border. Like 99% percent of it. Therefore, the density per square mile becomes around 88-400 people per square mile depending on which city you are in within 150 miles of the US.Studied this in uni, the statistics you are using considers all of Canada but most of Canada in the north is empty, frozen mountain and flat areas full of oil and natural resources but not used for human settlement and therefore Canada is really not that spread out. Only workers and wild animals live in the north half of the country.

    The UK gets much hotter than that during the summer & is generally much hotter than even these warmest parts of Canada in summer. London alone gets a maximum of close to 40C most summers. Even Manchester in the north west would be closer to 35C alone. Even at those underquoted max UK temperatures you have quoted there, the summer temps are already the same between both nations. Plus, furthermore, it generally hardly ever goes down to 0C, let alone below it. Even for the absolute lowest temperature on a few nights in winter, it's usually always above zero.

      Canadian summers are much hotter because most cities are located in a lower latitude than the UK. Even though London does get hot in the summer it is not as long, however it is not uncommon to have a month where the temperature is above 30 degrees in Toronto and there is even a desert in Canada where the temperature is above 35 degrees for almost 2 months. Definitely Canada is more extreme in both cold and hot.

    I moved from UK to Canada, and he has given a fairly accurate picture of the two countries. But he hasn't given the complete story.
    Crime rate is higher in UK, cost of living also is higher. House prices in UK of course are higher, but the houses are much smaller, and many don't have the basement. Also in UK, cars in general are smaller, roads are narrower and winding. Canada, the roads are wider and go straight for a long time (Canada has much more space than UK). Gas (Petrol, in UK) is more expensive in UK.
    The only big disadvantage of Canada I can think of is the weather, some people find it too cold. If you cannot stand cold weather, Canada is not the place for you. But otherwise, Canada has many advantages over UK.

But I think you are giving the wrong idea to people that in Canada you can get PR “ with just being sitting at your home “ is true that you do not need job offer sometimes but that is if you have done ielts and have plenty of work experience and other qualifications. In Canada there is a lot of immigration programs one of them being “ express entry” and followed by the most popular student visa that can lead to PR depending on the course duration and work experience. I find Canada being more friendly to migrants that the UK.

      There is no social life, if that's what you are looking for, to waste your time with.
      Friendships are fake, for the most part, based on favours, and the people love to be two-faced (as in most countries).
      It's okay if you're an introvert.

    • @WheresYourToque
      @WheresYourToque 2 года назад +2

      @@Nik_anduyot London is an expensive, smelly, crap hole. People can be very rude and nasty. The further you are from London, the less expensive it will be. But if nothing else, you have pub culture.
      It might be also easier to meet a dating partner or potential spouse in London than in Toronto, especially if you're a gay....er I mean a guy.
      Not that people in London are very friendly overall, but people in Toronto can be very cold and insular, not all nice and friendly like the tired, fake stereotype.
      Particularly Anglo Canadian women, who tend to prefer their own kind. If you're not a white Canadian man with a Canadian accent, they might find you "creepy" with a "weird" accent.
      Even if a Canadian woman were to say, "I like your accent", they might be just saying what they don't mean, as some women do, and in reality just mean: "Where are you from? I'm not really interested in you but I will pretend to be your friend if I can get something out of you, and if there is something in our friendship for me."
      You won't know where you stand with her, and in general, you wouldn't be able to flirt much with a Canadian woman compared to a European or especially an American woman. The Canadian woman in that situation might see you as a threat, you could even get a harassment charge.
      English girls can often be cold, fugly, and snobbish, but they will have lots of energy. London is perhaps more of an international hub than Toronto, so you can meet people from many international walks of the world, not just British people.
      But the USA has a much better social life than either Canada or UK. Prices (on everything) are usually much better than both, too. California is beginning to suck for some, and many Americans want to leave there and move to Florida, or another state with a "grass is always greener" mentality.
      Canadians, (and Brits too) love to shop (because of the low prices) and vacation in the States incl. California and Florida, even though they pretend to hate America. Very telling.
