All Lily does is make amazing music that you can hear a part of her in the song. This is not only my new favorite Lily song, it's my personal favorite song period. I struggle with so much and even expressing my feelings, so hearing someone seemingly being able to put those extremely similar feelings and thoughts out into the world just helps so much. And gives, at least for me, the sense I'm not alone, which is how I feel so often. So grateful for her sharing. I hope her all the success in the world and that she exceeds all her goals. Thank you so much Lily.
I've seen several of these responses of "God does listen Lily" to this song on different places and while I could write a dissertation on why I think that response is such a negative/dismissive reply to this amazing song, even if unintentional. This song has nothing to do with putting down or questioning your God or religion. If someone listens to this song and all they hear is "God doesn't listen" and have to respond with "yes he does Lily", it really feels like they're missing the message of this song and are actually feeding into the platitudes that are being pointed out. People struggle every day and so many times others with good intentions give these words and affirmations because they want to help or don't know what else to say or even because that's what's been said to them. But the words don't actually help and can in fact be hurtful because it makes that person feel worse because what works for everyone around them doesn't work for them individually. As someone who struggles every day, this song does sooo much more by being honest with how she feels and it lets others know they are not alone in feeling that way. You are not the only one that talking to God doesn't seem to fix you. Going outside doesn't seem to fix you. Taking deep breaths doesn't fix you. Medicine doesn't fix you. Time doesn't fix you. And that's ok. Keep fighting take the good days and bad as they come. You're not alone. If that stuff DOES help you, great, it doesn't mean it helps others. For some people it doesn't "get better" but that doesn't mean you quit fighting. You are fighting the same battle as so many others. So many people end their lives because they are tired of waiting for things to just get better, because that's what THEY say will happen and I genuinely believe this song has the potential to literally save lives if the right people LISTEN to it. But I'm just a random person on the internet so I could be completely wrong.
As someone who tries to express his struggle through writing, it bring me consolation to see a person as talented as Lily finding her unique outlet through these brilliant works. I count myself lucky to have stumbled to her music a year ago. I see myself in her.
The aesthetic on this video tho. Your whole team is top notch. This whole song feels like healing to me and you are such a healer. One of the most beautiful souls I've ever stumbled upon in music. The arts show how humanity can bring forth expression that impacts lives, you are no exception. I'll definitely buy a record to play in the future if you ever release an album. Amazing. Never stop creating. So inspiring.
@@brandistump2137same. Saw her when she came through St. Louis a few months back at the Old Rock House. Sucb a good show!!! Dont forsee a future of her coming through again and Im not in the crowd singing along...
Gorgeous song and an incredible voice Lily. The fact that you're making this through all the anxiety is a real tribute to a commendable perserverance underneath it all. I can only applaud you for it. Excited to hear more music down the line, for now this goes on repeat! :D
If you're feeling hopeless, as I was, please try EXERCISE. I know, it's cliché. But it's a cliché for a reason. Push your body, and the brain will start to relax. Exercise saved my life. If you're truly as desperate as I was, give it a try. Start slow.
Amazing dong and video Lily! It's been cool to see the progression from doing covers from different bands to now having your own music videos. You should be really proud of yourself and how far you've come! 🙌
I relate quite a lot to this. I'm 36, still I feel pretty empty after trying so hard to get better. This doesn't last forever, at least that's what they say....😢

Nope. I'm too busy. Besides so many of you complain about everything and think I will fix it like magic. (Seriously "GoD wAs RiGhT tHeRe WiTh YoU", is so extremely disrespectful and dismissive to people who struggle. When someone is struggling and feeling alone, trashing their feelings in that way can be so dangerous. The song is about how words like that don't matter to someone who is struggling not an attack on your religion. If your house was on fire and you called 911, but they never showed up. And your neighbor is like "well they showed up for me. Maybe they did show up and you just didn't notice it." and they go back in their house. That's an allegory since you apparently like the Bible and maybe that will help you understand why just saying "Oh God was with you" is extremely damaging. The Lord saves those who are crushed in spirit, so if he doesn't save you you're not crushed enough apparently since he's standing right there with you watching you suffer. Religion can be a good thing, and there are some people that it does amazing things for them. But that doesn't mean you just discredit someones feelings when religion doesn't work for them or they are struggling with it. You are basically telling them they are trash or not good enough when they already feel like that. You are completely missing the point of this song. But my thoughts and prayers are for you so you never have to face a situation where you feel as if God has abandoned you or where you can actually relate to this song)
@@God-gr8I tried making the same point and my reply was taken down. I guess on RUclips you can say a lot of out of pocket things, be racist and a bunch of other ists but make a point about how words can damage others mental health struggles and RUclips can't handle having that in the comments. Hopefully yours stays up because some people don't understand how their platitudes hurt others.
