With a connection now established between Glasgow and East Kilbride, a small but not insignificant demand has built up for a service in the overnight period between the last and first busses on the daytime route 2, so National Busways West Scotland introduce their first Night Bus, the N2, between Glasgow and East Kilbride following the daytime route of the 2, and then continuing to Hairmyres Hospital to allow the local services to cease operations at their normal time. Additionally, the fact that the 2 is run from PO means that it is Glasgow-centric, so a new service is launched from EK to provide earlier inbound and later outbound services.
