    When my grandmother called someone "stout" she meant fat.

    The actual expression is 'there's enough blue to make a pair of sailor's trousers'. It dates way back to when British sailors wore bright blue trousers. These are all old British sayings...nothing to do with granny: she probably heard them in her childhood!

    these are definitely not from what American grandmas used to say. I never heard most of them. I am85 so I've been around awhile.

    People in America wouldn't know most of these. They are sayings used in the UK.
