It’s crazy how far we’ve devolved from having custom screens with little jingles on the Wii, to having the same thing on the Wii U but while loading, Having cool interactive 3d scenes on the 3ds, to having… literally nothing on the Switch.

As great as the switch is from a functional stand point, it's such a soulless system. Stripped of the charm that made Nintendo stand out from the crowd in the first place.
Doing all these designs makes the console take forever to load. Notice how the switch is instant with most things it does and the games load up nice and quick.
It's nice on the first watch or so then it just kinda gets old after a while. I rarely boot Dragon Quest Builders 2 because it takes so long to actually get to the gameplay.
In my opinion, the splatoon one would be better if it was on a black background where some ink splats came in, and THEN the logo was shown, but the rest are all awesome!
The Origami King one was especially good imo. It really made it feel like, in an alternate universe, that’s the Paper Mario we got on Wii instead of Super.
This video somehow reminded me of when I watched videos of modded Switch system menu themes and imagined a menu layout where there could be backgrounds for each way in a way similar to how Microsoft implemented such a feature on the current Xbox dashboard.
I honestly miss the Wii channel openings for games, they had personality to them despite being pretty simple I don’t mind the simple icon system of the Switch, it’s perfectly effective, it’s just not exciting like this is when opening a game

these are really good! the way the music cuts off for mario maker 2 to form a little jingle was so accurate to how wii games used to make these things that it gave me nostalgia for an experience i've never even had. plus, the low resolution background behind mario odyssey was perfect

Honestly, I wish they put more of that creative effort on the Switch menu like before on the Wii, Wii U, and especially the 3DS. It would've made the Switch even more popular than it already is

Man these are simple yet so full of soul! If I could add one more I’d add Advance Wars Reboot Camp The menu jingle could probably just be Sami’s Theme since when the game was first announced in 2021 they used Sami’s theme as sort of like the main theme of Advance Wars.

This menu style is just so nostalgic to me, something about these types of menus was just so charming, especially when they went overboard with inspiration like the wall of TV's for the Wii. I hope that we stop with the "over simplifying" phase and return to these older styled menus. (also, as the one that made the green screen you used, I uploaded a better version of it that fixed a lot of the crustiness around the edges, only difference is that its not over the disk channel like this one)
This is so nice! It would have added much more personality to the otherwise very bland and grey Switch home menu. But what would be even better is the 3DS menu with its very creative 3D game icon with unique animation that can even be spun around (which for some reveals cool easter eggs/extra stuff). Though without the 3D effect, it wouldn't be as good and might affect the performance of the home menu, so the Wii style home menu would still work the best. I hope they add this kind of thing back in the Switch 2.

The Wii menus are the best themed menus ever. Every console should have a menu like this for every game like the Wii did. Not all were good of course but the most are awesome and memorable.

Well, I do have a good idea for how ONE would be: Kirby's Return To Dream Land Deluxe would be pretty much identical to the original Kirby's Return To Dream Land's Wii menu, only with Merry Magoland sitting somewhere in the background.
