#drumteacher #inferno #behemoth
Inferno isn't human. Nergal invoked him from the depths of hell to blast for Behemoth.
Definitely one of extreme metal's forefathers. Poland has to be proud. Love your open minded approach Andrew. There is beauty beneath the surface of extreme metal. David Gray from Akercocke is an under rated drummer that is kind of under the radar of mainstream metal.
David fucking Gray. Yes please.
One of my favourite bands, met them a couple of times, hes a really nice guy too, insanely talented
@@BishieBishie YES! They've in a league of their own. 🤘
Polska Górą
Poland is in fact not proud. They still have blasphemy laws and the band has been in trouble many times for their lyrics and Satanism.
Zbigniew Robert Promiński 'Inferno' is an awesome drummer with lots of groove. He is also a very tall guy.
jesus christ the snare hand is incredible, not just speed but dexterity and control wow !!!!
YUP!
Ayyyy thank you! And we'll get you into metal.
I was a fan of this guy ever since I saw them as supporting act on a Dimmu Borgir tour back in '08. Didn't hear them before that night but was blown away by their presence and this dude on the drums. His consistency and thoughtfulness on what to play was what really stood out to me. He had the cleanest double bass and high tempo blasts of the 3 extreme drummers that night, which is really saying something because the other two drummers were no slouches. Inferno just hit different.
If you want another drummer that is similar-ish to Inferno that I know will make a lot of the metal heads happy, check Romain Goulon with his video "necrophagist drumming". Necrophagist is the OG tech-death band and pretty much every band of that genre just sounds like they are trying to be Necrophagist.
It's just small clips from different songs off the album with him playing over top of them in his home studio, but, it's like watching a jazz trained drummer play extreme metal incredibly well. Very light touch and incredibly precise. I'm actually surprised you haven't been requested to react to it yet, it has quite a lot of views for an extreme metal drumming video that's not a whole song.
We got there my bro
opening for dimmu , oh how times have changed eh?
@@maxsoap5650 I have seen them 5 times opening for Slayer on their final tour, and 3 times as the headliners. Behemoth is top shelf.
... Behemoth ... BEHEMOTH! ... as SUPPORTING ACT ... on a DIMMU BORGIR tour back ... in 2008 ... Wait, WHA?!? ...😦
"didn't hear them before that night" ... Oh, sht, maaaaaaaan... 😶
@@lunarwolf5555 I think it was 08, at least. That night was Keep of Kalessin, Behemoth, and Dimmu. The night before, same venue, different tour, was Into Eternity, Epica, and Symphony X headlining. Was awesome. Small club in fort Lauderdale florida.
You know you r going the right direction of extreme metal when you start to see artist names like "Inferno" "Hellhammer" "Frost" "Faust"
Infernos a legend. Great upload!
🙌
From curiosity typed 'Behemoth inferno' to check some of his drumming and then realized that your video was uploaded 2 hours ago (I though that it's one old video).
Coincidence, but it's always nice to see something new
Glad ya found it!
All hail Inferno! My absolute favourite extreme drummer 🤘😈
That's one of the sickest drumming videos that I have ever seen thank you Andrew for expanding your views on this music 🤜
I appreciate that Larry!
Check Nils "Dominator" Fjellström
@@deaddycruel I've done a few on him!
Andrew, I am a HUGE Inferno fan, he's in my top 3 or 5 for sure but more importantly, did you hit 100k? CONGRATS!!!! Wow thats great! PS one of these days if you want a quick video that's fun, do Dannie Richmond playing his drum solo with the Charles Mingus sextet in Stockholm 1964. I am sure you have seen this video, its absolutely legendary, its fun and all about dynamics. Good teaching video.
Duuude, I love Behemoth! Inferno rules! I'm soooo happy that you did this video. I read once that Inferno quit drinking vodka a month before the world tours to run on a treadmill to get ready for the stamina part of the music. I really live Behemoth because it sounds like classical music on steroids! All the parts are greatly orchestrated to fit the mood. I've seen them live and it was totally awesome! Thank you Andrew for taking the time and appreciation for what he does. Also if you have the time, check out John Rice on the Vic Firth drum cam(same one the Danny Carey did) when John filled in for Inferno. All I can say is "ALL HAIL BEHEMOTH ' 🤘🤘🤘🔥
I liked seeing Jon Rice filling in on the drums for them a few years ago. It’s cool to see the different playing styles for the same song
Yup absolutely
There's also one of Krimh playing this live with them when he filled in for them once.
m.ruclips.net/video/4qyv2yoXEf8/видео.html
Rice is such a beast
Totally love this moment at the end! Goose bumps every time! 🖤
Inferno and Hellhammer are two of my favorite drummers!
Finally! Like that guy a lot: not trying to break world records in speed, but in my book he is one of the most musical of all metal drummers.
100%
Agree , also check out Mario from Gojira , speed control with groove
YES! Finally some BEHEMOTH! Love it!
BOOM!
Hell of a drummer, love his stuff. The intro to "Slaying the Prophets of Isa" is killer. My all-time fav is "Chant for Ezkaton, 2000 EV".
I actually had to let him and his tech into a venue where I saw them play. I didn't work there but the venue was not the greatest so I stayed by the exit where they entered, haha.
Inferno has so many good songs it is endless. Check out "As Above So Below" taken from the same show. Another killer 'Hemoth tune! Or "Christians to the Lions" just for the speed.
Try Krimh playing my fav Septic Flesh song, "Babel's Gate" Playing along with that orchestration is mesmerizing.
Inferno is a goddamned titan in the extreme metal scene. Now you've only got to watch some Derek Roddy and you'll have hit the big three of this particular generation of extreme metal drummers!
Derek Roddy, Inferno, George Kollias, Nicholas Barker, John Longstreth, Hannes Grossman, David Diepold, Hellhammer, Tomasz Janiszewski, Tim Young, and more... they're all gold.
Thanks for this review-im a huge fan of Behemoth and Inferno!!! I've seen people try to label him a tapper or light hitter but any real marching drummer will show you the power you can get with 6-12 inches of stick height! Seen him live multiple times and he is very tight
What makes it more impressive is he plays with boots on. lol
Oh right! WOW
Right!? Old school, Gene Hoglan style! 🤘
does he really??? damn. that's nuts.
I've seen this particular live clip plenty of times and one thing that just dawned on me is that the overdubs at the end of the song actually makes perfect sense in terms of the general aesthetics of the album the track is featured on, "The Apostasy" (2007): It was heavily inspired by Eastern Mysticism, to the point where the album cover even included the Hindu goddess Kali (or was at least inspired by it). And what is one of the most prominent features of this particular goddess? Several pairs of arms... 😛
Very good point! Greetings from Poland! 😉
i will be watching behemoth live for the first time in a few days. I can't wait!!
Enjoy Tayara!
@@AndrewRooneyDrums the show was last sunday and OH MY GOD!!!! I was mesmerized, so powerful, fast, accurate and clean sound. And the snare sound .. WOW unforgettable
u
@@tayaradiomedecaires6730 Inferno lives up to his name in the live setting for sure.
@@ThaBeatConductor definitely!!!!!
I’ve seen these folks a plethora of times over the years and they are absurdly consistent everytime!!
Congrats on 100k, Anderooney.
Thank you so much 😀
Fiiinally! Thank you so much, been more than a year since I've been asking for this. Great insight and reaction, thanks again!
One thing youre missing in this video is Tarentino Vision. Cant see his feet but you WOULD see he wears big ol' death metal boots while playing
That's mad
They show his feet briefly around the 9 minute mark.
Inferno is a beast 💪
If I remember correctly, he is a self-taught drummer. A while back, it was not easy to take drum lessons in Poland.
Ahh right. Thanks for the info!
Fotis Benardo - SepticFlesh - Pyramid God - Drum-Cam Amazing death metal drummer. He's not full on blasts but does great variety of tempo's , fills, ....and he is quick .
The appreciation to differentness.
At the end of a day we are all here because we’re looking for the way to express ourself.
Most of the time we don’t like something just because we don’t really know how it works and where is the expression.
From the start I never pre judge if I’m gonna like it or not.
Appreciate the differentness.
If You try You will find something for Yourself.
With, to be honest You Sir really do.
Greetings from extreme metalic country - Poland.
😄
Yes!! Thank you, sir!
I’ve been a metal fan for like 25 years. I’ve only started listening to this style and similar within the last few years. When it’s about the music the rest doesn’t really matter. I understand people being taken aback by the theatrics of it all but it’s art, focus on the music and the rest will follow.
ps. My tastes range from Jack Johnson to Ben Harper as well. Cheers!
HEHE. Thanks Michael!
When i saw this notification, i HAD to watch it!
GREAT!
"He's sitting really high hey, look at the angle of those legs". Dude I don't think you understand how enormous this man is
Now do Slaves Shall Serve! Lol
The wild part is that this is FAR from Inferno's fastest, most technical, most complex, and most well-compositioned song. It's not an exaggeration to say that he's probably one of the best drummers of his generation, across all genres of music. I'd strongly encourage you to look into more Inferno and Behemoth, they're all brilliant on basically every level musically. You can pretty much just search "Inferno Behemoth drum cam" and it's all great material. Here's a link to a video diary they did when recording their 2009 album, episodes 1 and 2 both have some pretty good drum footage for you.
ruclips.net/video/6nDttbGdzwU/видео.html
Polish OG blastmaster, great video!
I don't like metal, but this guy just create a full piece of music just with his drum kit, pretty amazing.
Yup nailed it
fucking phenomenal. thank you for watching this.
You bet!
It's awesome watching you reacting to this stuff 🤘🤘 now your learning blast beats
Haven't practiced any yet!!
Not my kind of music but most definitely very tasty drumming. Loved this. Thanks Andrew.
cheers!
Man I can't believe someone has to say that but you definitely need to look at Frost of Satyricon and 1349 - he is considered by some to be as good as, if not better than Dominator, and he's certainly insane enough. There are some very fine recordings, for example "Mother North" from their "live at the opera" show, but also some Drum Clinic stuff and more.
Also, I think it is impossible to appreciate any Metal drumming without having listened to Dimmu Borgir's "The Chosen Legacy" - if you do, you NEED to use the studio version, I've not heard any live version that even gets close. The drummer on that song is Hellhammer, who is also right up there with Dominator and Frost and one of the "OGs" of Black Metal. I won't tell you why this song in particular, because no spoilers, but you'll know when you get to the point I mean.
Love your reactions, cheers from Germany!
Wow thanks for the great recommends!
10:41 the other drummer is Adam Sierzega from Lost Soul band :)
Another Polish band worth checking out would be Vader. Their original drummer Doc (RIP) had more control than Orion does
Witek Kiełtyka?
Great stuff, thanks!
Check this guy out. The sound of his kit, wow! The band is called ‘Ingested’, the track is called Shadows in time, the drummer is Lyn Jeff’s. He has a sort of Alex Rudinger type of sound, crazy heavy and clean too. You asked for stuff like this. Hope it hasn’t been recommended already. Love the channel as always
ruclips.net/video/lEb4vqja6bo/видео.html
Thank you Joseph!
Love this song and this band!
🙌
how did he learn how to play like that without youtube and drum lessons amazes me
Sick sick and sick 'Nuff said...🤘🤘🤘✌️✌️✌️
Spoiler alert for Andrew, I'm preparing to do another PayPal request, this time for Josean Orta from the band fit for an autopsy. The only holdup is deciding on what playthrough to opt for. I think you will enjoy his playing. Another extreme drummer that incorporates excellent technique as well as an exceptional ear for what works for the music. He even does a KISS song, but I don't know if I'm going to let you off easy with that one! Talk to you soon, and as always, thanks for the awesome content.
Sounds great Bob!
La cansiones de behemoth son un arte ..pero escucharlo en vivo uff otro level
I remember waiting and waiting for the music video for this song to come out. My god I miss this era of Behemoth
That was great, andrew! Like your view on metal. Tomorrow Behemoth live in Zurich, what about you 😂?
Oh you mean you are going to it!?
Or a vid for me?
That's an awesome video too. Great band. Super sic!
Love your content, it's a very different style of drumming but over the last year or so mudvayne has released multiple drum cams that would be a lot of fun to see you react to.
Sounds great Ryan
7:51 that's what she said
LOL
FLIGHT OF THE CONCORDS YES
Yes Michael!
Inferno is king!!! Hell yeaaaaah
So good Tomas
There are many polish brutal metal bands, Behemoth is just one and the best known for its videos.
@asdaat Decapitated, Vader or Beata Polak, from Wolf Spider.
Awesome 😎 once again
Thank you! Cheers!
Hell yeah, some Behemoth!
Yes Sir
Andrew, you make great points about the musicality of the drummers. However, I'm curious if your exposure to extreme metal has only been through drum cam videos? That being said, another viewer suggested David "Blast Vader" Gray from Akercocke and I whole heartedly agree. Check out "Akercocke - Praise the name of Satan live drum cam David Gray" but first PLEASE listen to the actual recorded song first so you have some bearings as to what the whole of the song entails. A lot of these live drum cam videos have crappy sound that doesn't let the viewer register everything that is going on in the song. We'll make you a metalhead soon enough \m/
I'm getting there! Slowly turning like annakin into vader :)
@@AndrewRooneyDrums Don't lose your arm like Anakin. You'll be stuck playing Def Leppard tunes 🤣.
Freakin sweet lol I wish I could suggest more metal drummers- but I feel like I don't know them all that well. You're why I'm getting to know them at all!
Maybe Soul Glo? I just can't find anything with good live drums of most of these guys.
How about reacting to this finnish drummer Heikki Malmberg of Diablo? He might be a bit unfamiliar to many, but his drum sound, beats and grooves are something to see. Songs like Read My Scars are almost entirely carried by his drum beat. It would be such a spiritless song if not for his drumming lifting it to another level. Symbol of Eternity also has some truly exciting drum beats. I think he's a prime example of how heavier genre of metal drumming doesn't have to be just fast or heavy, it can be damn groovy and interesting. His use of foot leading and straight hihat beat or hihat pedal makes me think more of Jackson's Sugarfoot drummer and Vinnie Paul than your average blastbeater. Or Opeth's drummers, who are also fantastic in projecting exciting beats onto the riffs.
glad you enjoyed this man, but now it's time to react to some really extreme shit, I suggest Lars Ulrich next
I'm ready
I think all drummers should study the "Alexander technique" to become more relaxed and controlled. There is a philosophy in the teaching that would apply to drumming like this. Start by playing a beat as you would normal. Then play it again paying attention to all the muscles you use/tense to do it, back, butt, thighs, chest, shoulders, forearms. Then slowly bit by bit practice playing the same beat but can you do it without having a tense back, then without tensing your stomach, or forarms. It's about learning to do a movement (brushing your teeth, typing, playing a blast beat) while using the least effort and expending the least energy required to do it.
You might start out playing a blast beat with literally your whole body tense to keep pace, but could end up playing with the same power and speed by twitching only a few muscles in your hand, while the rest of your body is completely relaxed, as an extreme example.
These drummers who make it look so effortless remind me of this technique every time, as i'm sure they consciously worked towards this 'least effort required' style.
I'd recommend looking up Spencer from Archspire. He's MENTAL!
I did do one on him! He’s great
KRIMA, Is the guy you want to watch..... The dude is an absolute octopus with drum sticks.
Look him up on RUclips, you're welcome.
This is my first time here and I dig your channel for the most part You do talk a lot during the videos but that's pretty much par for the course isn't it.
Anyway you've got a new subscriber.
🤘🥁🥁🤘
Hit'em hard then HIT'EM HARDER !!!!!
Inferno ...I have to admit he is not one of my favorites but.....
Really really badass drummer .. always fun and interesting to watch
Ok Inferno is sick and look into some of his latest for sure.... BUT you want an eye opener? Look at Kevin Paradis and his Short and intense hands workout to increase speed ! @3:00 he blows minds with his para-diddle workout. Even if you do not record a video on him, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
Please check out Monuments!
Inferno is great. Extreme control on speed and technique. But you can also check Derek Roddy. It will be great!
At 50 years of age ... I'm a lifer. 😂. ... But I lived through the development of this more extreme form of metal.
I WANT A BALD GUY TALKING ABOUT METALHEADS! LUV U ANDREW!
🤣🤣👌
You should definitely listen and maybe do reaction to other song from the same album - Arcana Hereticae. Sadly I don't see any drum cams on youtube but there are some covers (by David Diepold for example). Drums in this track are really impressive.
As great as this performance is, I really think Inferno's best performance is "daimonos". Absolute brutality, accuracy and groove.
Sadly in this mix you can't quite hear how well all the accents and such play together with the guitars.
DAMN!
Met him at Tampa fairgrounds wild dude" signing autographs before the show they played with Trivium, bullet for my Valentine Slayer ,ect outdoor show kicked butt & a band called EXODUS &: st pete at a place called The dive bar which held about a hundred people the pit was pretty brutal like going through the rinse cycle in your washing machine up close and personal in your face metal met those guys behind the bar hung out for a while it was funny cuz I had an orange shirt and all their security had orange shirts Gary holt guitarist really cool dude plays with Slayer when he wasn't playing with Exodus in a metal scene they really have a tremendous following so I couldn't believe they played such a small venue , their drummer also kicks butt
It was the garage bar at the time" my buddy recorded it on a mico cigarette size mp-3 player recorder in his front pocket has no recording was allowed people with their phones were all holding them up as a security was like no it was funny cuz you can hear people bouncing off of him in the pit but the crowd noise over road the band by a level 10 versus a level 8 even though the band was loud AF
I'll throw out 3 drummers that were all in the same band, Necrophagist. Marco Minneman, Hanes Grossman, and Romaine Goulon. All awesome drummers in my opinion.
Metal gem.
YEAH
Check out Ken Bedene from Aborted. The guy's so relaxed behind the kit you'd think he was napping, but instead he's blasting so fast the cameras frame rate can barely keep up.
This Drummers from Hell vid of Termination Redux is my favorite live footage of him:
ruclips.net/video/pDZIoMjwzKQ/видео.html
i actually found this channel because of the metal.
he plays all his gigs wearing these leather tall cowboy boots haha
Whenever you feel like some prog metal, check out Jason Rullo from Symphony X playing the song Iconoclast. There's a drum cam from a show in Atlanta that would work for your channel.
Thank you!!
@@AndrewRooneyDrums Thank YOU for humoring us with your reactions to our requests.
Hey Andrew! Please, check the drum recording session of Lee Harrison - Dream Messiah for Monstrosity! It would be amazing if you do a reaction on it!
Lee Harrison very underrated classic Florida death metal drummer, also quite ambidextrous...
Thanks for these tips. Always good to have as reference
You should definitly check out Austin Archey - King Ov Deception Drum playtrough on the century media page.
Inferno's one of a kind but to me the best drummer from Poland, and arguably the entire planet, was the late Doc from Vader's first albums. Get a hold of Vader tracks like Sothis or Inarnation.

Thanks 👍😘🇸🇪
Love your Vids mate! Keep it up :) You should check out Jan Benkwitz some time. One of the most technical and cleanest underground metal drummers I´ve ever seen. Greets from germany
I definitely think one drummer/video that's not talked about enough is Dobber Beverly. A lot of that reason is likely because Insect Warefare (This video) are a grindcore band so might not be at the forefront of thought when people talk about technicality. But this video is such a great example of unbelievable speed and precision but also buttery smooth actions and coordination. His hands just look like they are made of molasses or something! Just so flowing.
ruclips.net/video/K_3pSBOkHsE/видео.html
Unsure how you'd go about doing a reaction video to this if you even can because it's a full 30 minute set. But enjoy regardless!
You should check Polish band Mgła
Their drummer Darkseid is amazing musician absolute beast 🤘
Great video greetings from Poland🤘
He has already done "Exercises In Futility V" and "Age Of Excuse VI". Check them out! 😎
Could we please have a reaction to Flo Mounier from Cryptopsy. The guy is one of the best extreme metal drummers out there and has been doing it for a long long time.Great reaction, Inferno is a great drummer too 😀
Any of the Evgeny Novicov playthroughs are awesome.
Look up Mayhem. Hellhammer is a monster on drums.
