I enjoy your videos. Watched most of your videos. Hope the "Town/City" don't shut you down from filming. Retired now. I live in Southwestern Ontario (close to London, Ont.). Worked for a company which repaired the Steam lines under Downtown London. Actually, Only repaired the Condensate Line (Not the high Pressure Steam line). This company also Rented out Dump Trucks and Equipment (Back-hoe, Excavator & CAT D5 Bulldozer, etc.) to the City of London, Ont. So was involved with the Sewer & water Dept. (more involved with Sewer Dept.). These City crews would tackle some bigger sewer & water jobs, like whole street repair [usually streets which bigger Private companies would not bother bidding on (ie. Small length Dead End Streets, etc.)] . Many years earlier I worked with my Uncle (who owned a small Trucking & Backhoe business, outside of Thunder Bay, Ont.) where we operated a "Grime Fighter 3000" Steam Generator/ Cleaner, which was used to "steam out" Centre Line Calvert's in Unorganized Townships (for the MTO-Ministry of Transport, Ontario) in Northwestern Ontario. We had this unit mounted on a GMC 7500 S/A Plow Truck. it also had a 500gal. Water Tank and a small Diesel Generator to run the pumps and Burner for the Steamer. No Hydrants out in those Townships. It worked well. Better than the old MTO "Kettle" Steamers which was used previously.
@rodpreston100 watch another RUclipsr who was video-ing himself operating an Excavator. He was using these videos to teach new operators about the trade. He had maybe 50 videos (from California). They were really good videos. Unfortunately, he was shut down by his employer (a Unionized Operation).
We do the same thing here in northwest Indiana but we use the same size tank you use on your patio grill with a water tank. It's portable eh? Only about 75 lbs.

We got some of that Crazy white stuff in North Texas you guys have. Difference is, we aren’t used to dealing with it on the regular. We got about 4” so far this morning, it supposed to dump a lot more this evening.
Seems a little late to be pumping hydrants eh . It would take two guy three months to pump out for winter. I think back in the day we would start around September. I know the pain you’re going through long days hang in there man👍
@@toddplenda5569 usually do a couple weeks after flushing all the hydrants in town , then if you find ones that are still wet, ya just pump them , but hey , something to do on the slow days 😁😁🍻🍻🍻

Rod you will have cheaper smokes when you become the 51st State! You will also not have too deal with the death pictures on the pack🤣 I can say that is a lot of Pot Shops here the would be shooting it out!
You’re gonna tell me you’ve thought of this…. Next time you install a new hydrant, how about you drop a cable down to a small immersion element wired to the town power to stop the water from freezing? In fact they should come pre installed from the manufacturer, right? Or you have a better idea to make yourselves redundant 😜 Also, why are some plugged (double or otherwise) and some not? 🤔
@ way back in the day our old engineer wanted all the hydrant plugged , our hydrants are on the drinking water system , so if there was ever a problem and someone opened a hydrant it could make any water that’s in the hydrant release into the water main( backsiphonage) and that water would be dirty ground water with parasites in it and make people sick , doesn’t happen often but can if the water main loses pressure due to a leak , and the only reason a hydrant would freeze is if someone forgot to pump it or some one uses it and doesn’t tell us , most do drain , but ground water will fill them up to the water table level
you use a floating check on the end of the pump or no if u do use a floating check can you give me the name i been using that pump for years when they were 180 us back in 2018. but i use mine for pumping diesel fuel "install underground fuel tanks" . or you guys call it a SELF priming just asking it"?
Lmao. Watching a video called “hot steamer” as I’m in the bathroom taking a hot steamer.
Lmao. The irony.
Thanks for the vid!

Would suck if there was a fire and the hydrant was frozen 😳
