I am using a Breezer Inversion steel frame with DT Swiss 1600s, GRX 46-30 crank, changing to a Shimano 11-40 cassette with the help of a Wolf on a 105 derailleur. Redshift to cushion my 77 year old back. Oops. How did this 1900.00 bike become a 3000.00+? Well, it gets me off the couch three times a week.
Nice hair, Kyle! :) I'm jealous! :D Nice vid, still love my SL4 Specialized Roubaix, great ride on the road and a bit of trail. With the Tannus tires, no flat or pumping tires, either! Always great to see another vid!
Thanks Michael. The hair is awful in this Texas heat. The gravel bike has me very interested to spice up my local trails. They aren't overly difficult on a mountain bike, so figured I could get some more miles in on the road, then scare myself a bit off road.
That looks like a really nice bike! This is such a competitive segment, it was hard to narrow it down to 6, but the Speedster has similar specs to the bikes featured in this video.
Cobra Kyle Less than 2 weeks until my Lynskey titanium gravel bike comes in. Was only 4 weeks total wait but Shimano shipments holding it up. Otherwise I’d be riding it now. Crossing my fingers...
You are certainly correct! It's funny I was even looking at Rondo (and used a picture of one in video), but overlooked the frame material options. I wish I had a prize I could offer you lol
I wished I would've had the $$ to buy that '20 model Digger Comp. Perfect bike, perfect price for what I wanted. Not sure but there doesn't seem to be any critical differences at all with the '21 model except they bumped the price by $300. Ended up going with a bike you featured in another one of your vids, the Rapide VR around July of this year. Great XC bike for the $$ but it kinda rattles a bit, maybe from the derailleur or maybe the internally routed cables, I'm not sure. Still like to go back and revisit some of these older vids from last model year to see what and how things have changed.
I wish I would have bought so many bikes last year! They've all gone up in price significantly for the same product. That's cool you got a Rapide! I still think that's a sick looking bike. Feels like just yesterday I made these videos, but then I see the prices of bikes and am shocked! Things escalated quickly lol
I think the RAG is awesome! I own an NS Hardtail and I'm very pleased with it. Between the two models of the RAG I'd personally go with the more expensive "1" model as it has hydraulic disc brakes while the "2" uses mechanical. From what I know it does not offer dropper post routing (either model), so that's another thing to consider if you want to add a dropper post later. Otherwise I think both models are super cool and would make a great bike!
It says the DSX is based off the Gestalt X, but they are slightly different when comparing geometry figures. I own the DSX 1 and it's a really fun bike! Haven't tried the Gestalt X out though.
Or save some $ and pick up a used mtn bike or hybrid and convert to 1x dropbar with Microshift Advent X. Not hard to do in 2021 as the components are not as scarce as early 2020 peak covid.
Kyle, great list. I’d add the Vitus VR2. And one only comment: as much as I would love me a Ribble CGR 725, it adds $130 for shipping. But that’s an awesome bike!
The VR2 is a very nice bike! I debated having it on the list, but Vitus dominated the last two lists I made, so wanted to feature some of the other brands. That's good to know about the Ribble shipping! I must have overlooked that.
I've never seen you with so much hair haha. I'm really not sure what I'd use a gravel bike for, even though McAllister Park is pretty perfect for one. I suppose riding the greenway and detouring onto a few trails would be kind of cool. I can do that on my mountain bike, its just not as efficient.
Dude I know. It's been a solid 15 years since I've let it grow out like this. It feels pretty gross having a mop on top of my head. I'm very interested in gravel bikes after making this video. The challenge of hitting yellow root on one of these intrigues me, and just being as fast as possible at Mac and OP. I think it would be a blast.
I show the gearing specifics in the spec sheet for each bike. Just pause on the spec sheets and look at the crank and then the cassette. Will show you the number of teeth on the crank, and then the cassette number will be listed as 11-42 for example with 11 being the hardest gear to pedal, and 42 being the easiest.
Looks like a pretty nice bike. Only thing I didn't notice is if it has tubeless compatible wheels/tires. It also uses quick release hubs rather than thru axles, which isn't a huge deal, but just a preference of mine. I like that it has hydraulic disc brakes and the Shimano gravel groupset. Price is really fair too!
I would love to try a titanium frame. They are usually crazy expensive. I'm not sure how the weight compares with carbon, but I imagine titanium would be a lot more resistant to damage.
That's a nice bike too! I featured a Devinci in my hardtail list and looked at the Hatchet for this list. So many good gravel bikes it was hard to narrow down, but the Hatchet is a great option.
lol I can see the argument there. Gravel bikes are a pretty niche market. Mostly for people who don't wanna commit to either road or MTB disciplines and want to dabble in both. I think they would be more fun for a mountain biker on intermediate trails as a challenge. I'm considering getting one just to mess around on my local trails, but we'll see!
@@CobraKyle I'm only getting a gravel bike because my friends all have them, and they have access to private dirt roads with less traffic! :) Bikes are always N+1. I have a TCR and fatty which are rather single-purposed on the scale of substitutes. I think the gravel bike will be better for cruising with my children. On the fatty I forget they can't go where I can as easily!
2020 Motobecane . Reynolds 853 frame. Full top level GRX 810 2X11 group. DT Swiss wheels. 1800.00. This thing has worked out great!

At this pace monocycles are gonna be the only affordable deal.
I live in the Pacific NW. Are these all available in the US? Having a hard time finding dealers for these.

DUDE! THE HAIR! LOL!
Modeling agencies are calling non stop. They need a guy with unkempt hair for the "before" picture.
Nice Vid! That Felt Broam spoke to me, but I still am gunning for a Surly Bridge Club (the 700c version)
Good choice. Surly makes really nice looking bikes!
Cobra Kyle hehe... remember when I said I wanted the 700c version of the bridge club? I change my mind. I want the 650b version 😂
What about the Scott speedster gravel 30?
That looks like a really nice bike! This is such a competitive segment, it was hard to narrow it down to 6, but the Speedster has similar specs to the bikes featured in this video.
Almost pulled the trigger on a Ribble AL but their long delivery time (end of Aug) was a non-starter.
Yeah unfortunately right now it's hard to get any bike. I had to wait 3 months to receive my mountain bike and that was pretty torturous!
Cobra Kyle Less than 2 weeks until my Lynskey titanium gravel bike comes in. Was only 4 weeks total wait but Shimano shipments holding it up. Otherwise I’d be riding it now. Crossing my fingers...
Wow !! Thanks for this. Was looking for gravel bikes..
No problem! I hope it was helpful to you!
Using this video to get pumped! WOOOO GRAVEL!
What about the crogramtb Le34235 massa sacchi no review is complete without this
Rondo offers the ruut in all four materials!
You are certainly correct! It's funny I was even looking at Rondo (and used a picture of one in video), but overlooked the frame material options. I wish I had a prize I could offer you lol
@@CobraKyle no price needed. Like the ruut a lot. Bikes with an attitude.

Nicely done! Sadly looks like Ragley has left SRAM for Shimano in 2021 :-(.
Hello sorry i would like to know the name of the bike on the timeline 1:09 grayframe with purple writing on the fork
Hello! That bike is the Rondo Ruut AL. Here is a link to their website: rondobike.com/collections/the-2021-rondo-collection/products/21-ruut-al-1
What do you think about the RAG+ from NS bikes? Thinking about buying one.
I think the RAG is awesome! I own an NS Hardtail and I'm very pleased with it. Thank you for the info im going with the Nookproof if it wasn't for your video much appreciated.
Glad it was helpful and good choice! I want the Nukeproof Digger in my life too.
Is the frame on the Gestalt the same as on the DSX flat bar bike?
It says the DSX is based off the Gestalt X, but they are slightly different when comparing geometry figures. I own the DSX 1 and it's a really fun bike! Haven't tried the Gestalt X out though.
Great video !!...I got a Giant Revolt 2 Alum. for $1000... Very fast and strong bike ! 💪
Thanks! The Revolt is a sweet bike!

pls give gearing specifics: cogs, front and back. Unless, of course, you are speaking only to very experienced people.

Really glad the bike price range chosen. Great for what most viewers can actually afford to pay
Thanks! I agree. I couldn't justify spending over $2K on a rigid bike unless I was out there winning races. I'm most certainly not lol.
Titanium!?!? I guess that’s lighter than carbon? I am very intrigued...
I would love to try a titanium frame. They are usually crazy expensive. I'm not sure how the weight compares with carbon, but I imagine titanium would be a lot more resistant to damage.
