27yrs I've been a loader operator and national trainer assessor. Excellent. 1. Operating at full noise 2. Very close to truck. 3. Digging straight and loading on the artic 4. No wheel spin 5. Full buckets. 6. Keeping a good floor. And doing it consistently. 👍👍👍👍👍 5 thumbs
He curls too fast. I run 992 988 Cats i force it in drag my bucket up flat and curl at the end. Packs in better and the curl tops it at the end. No one does that..unless you have seen it.
So back in the day I ran a brand new 988 FE Cat loader for an entire season doing exactly this but in the high desert of Wyoming. Like this loader, it was a power house. It was a joy all day long except for a screaming hydraulic pump. It gave me my first migraine at 20 yrs of age. I doubled up on my hearing protection. Made the noise 30% better. You can sure hear the noisy bastard in this great film. 50 years and no improvement in the noise. Kudos to this operator. He's a hand.
That operator is worth his weight in gold, - Not a movement wasted, revs kept just right, that machine will last like that, less downtime needed - tight, neat and very quick operation, - he must save the company loads in fuel alone every week, - I hope he is suitably rewarded, people like that are hard to find nowadays. Any firm would employ him and he could command top dollar wages. The trucks couldn't even keep up with him and he was moving the absolute minimum.
Couldn't agree more!!! It's nice to know there are still guys out there that take pride in mastering there trade, this man did it!! I could sit here and watch him eat that entire stock pile up!
The truck drivers have been schooled of the process. Loader is spotted ,you back under the bucket. Loader man is raising the bucket as he backs out of the pile ( seen so many wait til they make the motion to the truck )then in a fluid motion starts dumping before he reaches the edge of the bed . They’ve got it going on as a team. I’ve seen a few other Videos of guys operating as they are but not many. Great team work!!!!
You are correct , you pass beginners level 101 certification , and you will start in the maintenance department pumping grease till you work up the ladder to the the massive 903 mini wheel loader with a 3/4 yard bucket capacity. the best thing to do is turn Then the best thing to do is turn the video speed up dbl if you don’t like his efficiency smh the video speed up dbl if you don’t like his efficiency smh
A lesson for any would be loader operators right there, close V pattern, minimal time mucking around in the face, not waisting time in the face to get the bucket 100%+ full, fluid motion for the whole cycle. Another great Vid Ken even if there is no scoops!
Good operator, good machine! It is amazing how fast the 993 is. Machines this big are usually much slower. I like the way he gets the trucks to back into the pile so that spillage does not need to be cleaned up. Very efficient work cycle too. I wonder what the production is in tons per hour.
The 994 is a lot slower. There's a video on youtube somewhere of a 993 and a 994 loading trucks next to each other and the 993 is running circles around the 994. There's also some tech in this machine that really helps - automatic raise to dump button and an automatic return to dig button. And locking clutch/engine speed so he only needs to use the clutch to slow down then it goes back up to what ever RPM it's set to.
The dumper drivers are the hitch in the process here. No wheel spin on the loader, quick cycle time, three pass loads even with a slightly empty bucket.
Yes, a very good operator, but also a lot of tech in that machine to make him/it efficient. He digs and dumps, but the bucket returns to level and plane automatically. I fear it is only a matter of time until it is 100% automated.
I've never fully understood why the wings are on the sides of the bucket? Is it just to keep material from falling on the machine or to limit depth of digging into the stockpile? I've seen them on other machines in other videos and thought I'd ask.
56pw you are spot on . That empty truck should have given the loaded truck a wide berth and come in on his off side, followed him out and come straight under the loader . The trucks are slowing the big fella down A little I feel .
Man So Cal you guys rock, awesome footage of gravel being loaded and handled. No music to listen to just the sound of the wheel loader and the sound of the gravel hitting the truck bed. How many pounds or tons per load were loaded?
You are correct , you pass beginners level 101 certification , and you will start in the maintenance department pumping grease till you work up the ladder to the the massive 903 mini wheel loader with a 3/4 yard bucket capacity.
The one we have is NO masterpiece. Its jerky as hell, hydraulics and the impellor clutch/brake. Trans is always running in the red during hot weather. Also extremely hard to see out of. I will give it credit as it digs like nothing else!! 20 cuyd bucket.
Interesting video, but why doesn't the site manager save money and get rid of the Cat loader and have the gravel conveyor filling a big cheap hopper? Then the trucks can fill up under the hopper spout.
This guy is good! Id default the tranny to second gear and get rid of that lurch during the direction changes. Second gear cushions that out and just downshift to first when the bucket edges into the pile. It sure makes for along day with that shock every f/r change.
I wonder what engine cat puts in the 993 as the 992 f was the biggest I've been around I rebuilt several 992 loaders over my time as mechanic ,engine redues, transmission torchs diffs ect ECT plus tear downs for transport to new jobsite now that I'm retired I miss it well maybe the money!as I did get paid pretty well living now on fixed in come sucks wish someone would overhaul me!maybe give me a new set of joints new set of turbos a new tickert ,the works then put back to work!

I operated the 2nd one of those 993's to be put into actual production in North America. Very nice machine to say the least
I operated the first
The 993K is a nice loader i agree. Ive operated them in Western Australia in Coal and Iron Ore.
As a Machine Operator. This guy is a really really good driver. deserves his pay and then some.
Absolute minimum movement this guy really is pretty good
Having worked this stuff all my life I recognize that the whole crew seem well trained !These are the kind of guys you want to hire!
These guys have lots of experience
My cup of tea
2 buckets and done wtf that's badass

that's the way ,great operator. on forward , bucket immediately down and no material bobbling around on lift.

Yes there have been many crappy operators
I have fifteen years on using such a big loader it so excites me to work with it.
amazing video and one of the best operators I have ever seen !!!that cat is a monster more please !!
Wow that's a real good operator right there
Damn that loader is way quicker than the 990h's that i used to operate

They are not really much use in this matl. Used when loading shot rock as it kicks the rocks clear of the tires path hopefully reducing cuts.
I think I could do that. The 980 I ran has the tranny setup and the 115 had the wobble stick. Cats are cats pretty much. Good operator and good video!
Lewie McNeely huge difference between a 980 and 993, trust me
