Confirmed, one time I did an eradication match with randoms using only sentinels. It was funny to see how we achieved 100% accuracy with a count of 0 bullets fired xD
Honestly one of the best strategems they added to the game. Put in the right spot that thing will murder ANYTHING that has even a shred of armor. It dismantles chargers, bile titans, harvesters, hive guards, brood commanders, the bots? Not even a chance. I did NOT know about the new shield thing though. I seriously hope it's intended.
it's a backpack, when you aim it deploy a 100° shield, who can also block ennemy trying to get it (look at the warbond video to see it being used by spartan)
This shield is not at all intended. It requires an exploit where you use the stim animation to confuse. Look at the footage, he's stimming. It should be made official though without stimming, because otherwise it's very mid as a stratagem. If it combo'd with emplacement it would be really nice.
The shield coming out while sitting is definitely unintended and a bug. I do hope they fix the bug, and then just make it a full on feature you can do while mounted on anything.

The one in HD1 was vastly superior, in big part due to having access to the REP gun, and the emplacement protecting you from all damage until destroyed. On the flip side, you can use the AT emplacement at far longer ranges in Helldivers 2, but still, I really wish we could have a taste of the old arsenal in Helldivers 2. We used to hit much harder.
@@fernando47180 HD1 emplacement was inferior just by nature of the game. The tiny field of view basically limited its use to defense objectives. It wasn’t useless, but it was niche. In HD2 you can just cross-map anything destructible with the thing. WAY more practical than in HD1.

It's because of how the armor on them works, the armor has its own pool the doesn't effect the main health-pool so a strong hit will strip the armor the another shot in the same spot would kill it. I recommend explosive damage. The splash goes through the armor
A lot of illuminate armor is made so that large single target damage doesn't work. For example overseers have armor that gets stripped off them progressively as you do damage, but if you don't strip it completely it won't damage the main body! the best way to take them down is either through high rate of fire weapons to strip the armor quickly or explosive damage that bleeds through the stripped armor as the other commenter said
Yeah, it seems the general direction with Illuminate balancing is gonna be that anti-tank is suboptimal compared to light and medium armor high fire rate combos. Shields do not care at all about damage done, only the amount of damage instances done, Overseers have light armor with high durability, meaning they also dont care about high damage shots as much as many low damage shots combined, and basically none of the Illuminate have heavy armor, and the one that does, the Harvester, has easily exploitable medium armor weakspots. TBH, I've had more success with Illuminate missions when ignoring anti-tank in exchange for consistent low damage firepower.

I know missiles and rovkets areore in line with real life infantry use anti-tank weapons, but there's just something cool about an anti-tank gun. Love to see the shell casings fly, that's a good part of why i love the autocanons.
Best part is that it's definitely balanced well. You can very easily get swarmed by fodder that you either don't want to waste the shells on, or can't hit because the turning is so slow. Works immaculately for it's intended purpose, and doesn't feel like it's a must have
Had a host on EVA defense moaning about how he forgot his rockets and we should back out. My friend and I said he was being ridiculous and we had the warp ships taken care of with our AT emplacements, and he said "we'll see." And brother, he freakin' saw. Stacked up dropped warpships like pancakes.
Just tried it on bots for the first time today and this shit is CRACKED. It's AT but it also serves as high explosive as I could take out clusters of patrols as well. The only downside (and it's not a complaint at all) is that it's slow moving, but hopefully in the future we get a Super Destroyer perk that could accelerate emplacements.
There already is one. It improves rotation for all turrets. I have it and it's still slower turning than the stationary HMG but considering just how devastating this is in the right hands I see it as a minor inconvenience rather than a weakness
@@LegendaryMercDC If you're referring to the perk 'High-Quality Lubricant' it doesn't affect the emplacement, only sentries. Affected strats are listed on the right when you select it. I've unlocked everything and from what I know only 2 perks affect the emplacements which is cooldown and call down time. HMG emplacement got a major movement buff in June I think.
This is a classic weapon from HD1, it is also top tier like this in the first game. Now we can actually see how good it is up close. Hope they add tanks soon, the FRV vehicle is a good start, but tanks is where it is at.
As a laser cannon dude who likes the interactive stratagems, rather than the automatic ones, this thing brought tears to my eyes. The hardest thing about it is keeping small enemies off you - but automatic turrets and backpacks, even the new turret supply helps with that. It fucks

They haven't done that in a while because of crybabies like you, tbh while I have still have fun with the game, the game was more fun before they giga buffed everything. Teamwork makes any load out busted, even stacking two of the same thing is overpowered, now it just breaks the game entirely. It was more fun to come out of a fight by the skin of your teeth rather than going in just stomping them with little effort.

I feel like being able to use the hand shield is unintended behavior. Like on the one hand (literally) you have a free hand. On the other, shield strat doesn't get enough use as is.
After thorough testing I found that the cannon kills fellow helldivers in one shot 73/73 times and that an indirect AOE hit will kill them in one shot 107/131 times. More testing to come.
Yeah this emplacememt is the true potential of the autocannon sentry cause the shells go where they are most needed rather then a random grunt or the broadside of a dropship
NEW STRATEGEM IDEA it's only once or twice you can drop it, but a defense platform dropped of by a pelican, it's a raise platform with two HMG turrents and an anti tank chair
I really hope they don't nerf this thing. It's perfectly designed the way it is. If it was a support weapon, sure, it'd be way overpowered. But it's stationary, very slow to turn, relatively slow to fire, and still takes a couple shots to destroy tanks and the like, so if you're not being careful they can still wipe you out pretty easily.
Honestly this works even better than backpack less AT in open maps. I run it with a jetpack, find a good spot to snipe base, patrols, turrets, etc., then move on.
This is what the game needed i avoid playing against robots just to much fire power they have and things can get crazy and ridiculous sometimes. This makes it easier and can plan to raid a bit outpost. Just hope they don't make the cooldown stupid or reduce the ammo to next to nothing.
Mechanic opinion: they shoud allow us to use the ballistic shield together with the HMG and the AT turret Fix the energy shield+turret bug and male so you can pair with the ballistic shield instead
Did a defense on super helldive bots. I was the only Helldiver with one but the cooldown is so fast we had the whole team sitting in an AT emplacement by the end 💀
the reason they made this is because the recoilless can only do so much against multiple tanks at diff 7 you will see 1-3 tanks per group and sometimes a factory strider.

I suspect a nerf is coming. Maybe they'll limit you to how many times you can call it in, or reduce its fire rate, increase the time before you can call it in again, or reduce its armor penetratration value. Either way, we're having too much fun with this new strategem. And like other weapons that came before it, i suspect we're nerf bound.
Feels a bit underpowered against some enemies like the Illuminate and a lot of heavy enemies It should have higher armour pen (6 instead of 4) and do the same damage as the recoilless This way it becomes a rapid fire stationary recoilless. It trades slow turning speed and no mobility for more ammo and faster shooting. That seems fair in my opinion, and also super fun

You can also have a rover on your back, and it will shoot anything around you as protect which also helps a lot

I love the mechanism for it. Helldivers is fun for that. Everything from handguns to emplacements etc. Is fully realized on a mechanical level.

Mechanic opinion: they shoud allow us to use the ballistic shield together with the HMG and the AT turret
Fix the energy shield+turret bug and male so you can pair with the ballistic shield instead

Did a defense on super helldive bots. I was the only Helldiver with one but the cooldown is so fast we had the whole team sitting in an AT emplacement by the end 💀
the reason they made this is because the recoilless can only do so much against multiple tanks at diff 7 you will see 1-3 tanks per group and sometimes a factory strider.
I was stunned by how powerful this thing was. I wiped out an entire heavy bot base + the reinforcements with this one turret.

Don't forget that it gets bugged if you go into chat while on it.
Can't wait for them to add the mech from HD1 that has this cannon on one arm and a flamethrower on the other.
I expected something like 20-30mm medium firerate thingy against everything but this works too.
I suspect a nerf is coming.
Maybe they'll limit you to how many times you can call it in, or reduce its fire rate, increase the time before you can call it in again, or reduce its armor penetratration value.
Either way, we're having too much fun with this new strategem. And like other weapons that came before it, i suspect we're nerf bound.
I love how were in turret heaven i just got the gun on the resupply its comical and powerful same gun as the backpack drone

The only thing they need to do is fix the bug where it locks you in and u cant dismount even afrer its empty lol. Died so many times bc of that
Feels a bit underpowered against some enemies like the Illuminate and a lot of heavy enemies
It should have higher armour pen (6 instead of 4) and do the same damage as the recoilless
This way it becomes a rapid fire stationary recoilless. It trades slow turning speed and no mobility for more ammo and faster shooting. That seems fair in my opinion, and also super fun

Pretty sure is gonna be nerfed quite a lot, instead of just changing its effectiveness as a whole.
But, it is awesome how destructive this stratagem is.
