Hey folks. Thanks for stopping by my channel, where I specialize in teaching NativeScript. Here you get learn NativeScript techniques, tips, and tricks, and I'm ALSO adding this course to help others get started. Enjoy!
Hey Alex thought of updating you about the course content isn't prompting. Is there a git repo for this course where we could raise a issue and work collaboratively?
This video was awesome. I came to it by watching some of your entertaining Macbook reviews / comparisons. Then I heard you mention that you do courses, which I had no idea about. I know the NativeScript stuff doesn't get nearly the traction that the Apple stuff does, but I'd love to see you go over NativeScript vs Flutter, etc, in 2022. I've been beating my head against the wall trying to pick up Flutter, because I had read it was the "best" option for multiple platform single code base. But, this video was exceptionally easy to follow, and the code seemed much simpler as well. Thanks for your content! After watching this single video, I'd say that you are on an equal level with programming tutorial channels with much larger audiences.
There are a few updates here and there where things changed, but for the most part, you’re right, the main concepts of using NativeScript haven’t changed. Which is a great thing ;)
Creating the first project from template at 5:50 no longer works. I saw this in the actual course... then trying to figure out what would actually work, I came across the RUclips channel for installing the MAC environment, and it has a different process for creating the first project... even just trying 'tns create' helps you create your project, but the choice is Angular, React, JS, TS, etc... and neither of them look like the environment in VS Code @ 8:00...
Yes, this kind of tech changes quite a bit and the videos are a bit outdated. Take from them what you can, but you’ll have to do a little bit of your own work to figure out the differences until I get new videos up
@@AZisk that's generally true but last time I tried (couple of years ago) the installation took forever and eventually failed. I'll try again, maybe it's better now.
It’s not a quick process for sure. However if you’re doing any native mobile app development, then you’ll need this installed. Doesn’t matter if you’re doing pure native, NativeScript, react native, etc. I definitely don’t recommend using the automated script provided on the NativeScript docs site. That script never works for me. Install everything manually

I am following up now just after this video was created exact one year ago.

I miss the Web App demonstration. Can you target web using NativeScript?

Thank you for saying so. Good to see you here again.
Is NativeScript still used in 2024 or did everything switch to react native and flutter?
I had seen this tutorial back in 2017 and it’s the same now in 2020 😅

How about setting up Linux environment?
I don’t have one for Linux. Linux users tend to be really handy with finding and installing stuff, so I think they can figure it out :)
