The SCSI SD card is a good look for the XL! I picked up one for my MPC2000. 🔥🔥🔥
One of my best purchases next to the 8 outs.!!
Great video tutorial on the AKAI SCSI SD Card Reader
but if you don’t like the SD Card Reader sticking out from the
back of your MPC2000XL, I took my AKAI MPC2000XL SCSI Cable
and purchased a MEIRYFA DB 25 Pin Gender changer D SUB 25 Pin Coupler
Serial cable Gender Changer RS232 VGA Adapter Connector for Application Pack of 2
( FEMALE to FEMALE ) from Amazon to join both MALE 25Pin ends together to the AKAI MPC2000XL SCSI Cable
and to the SCSI Reader. Now it will be long enough to lay the cable onto your studio desk, without sticking out of
back of your MPC2000XL. I did it and it works.
Hell yeah thank you. I gotta try it
Use the ZIP drive SCSI cable for the SCSI2SD and expand it from the Drum Machine.🎵🎵🎵🎶
You nailed it exactly. I've lost so many beats due to power outages because I leave mine on also. Actually I just replaced the screen because I left it on so long that I believe it made the screen fade out.. lol
🤣🤣 the struggle is real. The new screens are better tho. You'll enjoy it
@@SauceSoundz quick question, if you get an SD card installed in front in place of the floppy, can't you save your sequences and sounds the same way
@@SaintThomas13 yea you could. I just like this option better cause it allows me to go back to my old sounds on the floppies plus if I ever sell the machine it makes it more valuable
@@SauceSoundz Awesome, im laughing now because I didn't think of that before I installed the SD card reader. Oh well😃
Thats dope. Thanks dude. I been on the fence about this thing. Your video helped my decision.
Happy to help 💪
Dude your studio is super dope
Thanks man. Def at peace here
I never left my XL on for a week..woww those things are magical monsters
The joy of having your hard work erased in an instant is exhilarating! 😅😅😅 .
Hey friend, good option, I installed a CF reader on mine, but what you bring friend is more pro.
Yes it's pretty cool so far
CF is the way
Been looking for ways to get rid of those bloody zips..mine work for avwhile and after a couple of months they dint load anymore...thank you for this vid 👑💯
Thanks man I appreciate that
@4:20-5:00 That BEAT IS CRAZY NICE!!!!!
Yooo thank you!! Was in my head when I made that, one of my favs.
You can hear it here ruclips.net/video/GRZG_on4-RM/видео.html
I had a 2000xl wish I never sold it and kept it even though the workflow was so slow compared to the live
Love my XL man. I enjoy the workflow . More cause I just did it for so long. It just relaxes me.
You're not missing anything. The Live is where it's at. Tedious workflow on the XL. For me the juice is not worth the squeeze.
Lesson number one lesson number one when you save into the MPC you have to go to root with the cursor spin the wheel it'll ask you new folder, just name ur folders...and u can save the same named sounds just when u load to existing programs rename..... That way every beat is in its own folder, then u just scroll threw the folders
Dude thank you so much. Gonna try that out. I appreciate the tip
I can show you exactly how to do it
Once u learn it's simple and organized
The thing about too many partitions is if one partition goes out and disc read error it usually affects more than just that particular partition meaning if one partition goes out it's usually the whole disk that goes
A lot of people complain about the zip drive how loud it is how long it takes to save which I do agree but there's something just more satisfying about saving beats on those types of storage media because it's just feels parallel to the time
On the 2000xl you don’t really need that kind of scsi reader it is more suited for the 2000 Classic you can add an ide card reader on the 2000xl it is cheaper and more easy to replace by a new one in the long term and it don’t stick out it replace the floppy drive in term of location.
Thanks for the info
@@SauceSoundzbut since you got some beats in floppy this actual scsi drive makes sens too. The ide drive takes is not hotswapable and take place of the floppy.
The A partition will be the only partition that ever shows up on a computer, so you will have to load all of your sound into partition A.
If you’re using an Apple computer, I have found that all the generations that have an SD card slot on them from the MacBook pros iMacs to Mac Minis work extremely well with dragging and dropping samples onto these SD cards
The bigger the partition, the better in my situation, are used the entire 512 MB compact flash, I converted all of my Way files in the MPCPgmMaker to SND I’m only using 16 pads from Bank A.
Was my samples loaded up into the MPC and the sign to pay it that is when I turn it into an actual kit because the MPCPGM maker program was actually designed for the 2000 XL and the 3000 and save it in whatever partition from B-Z.
Please remember that the MPC formatted SD card will not show all the other partitions using your computer unless, of course, you have some type of special software that will allow you access to all of the partitions other than that, it will only show the first or partition A
Thanks for clarifying this. I wasn't sure if I was right about that. That helps out a lot. 🤝
@@SauceSoundz if you need help with anything let me know.

i can't wait 😎💥
🖤
I need that adapter instead of a scsi cable
Very helpful ,thank you bro.
The mpc 2000xl is a Beast btw
Happy to help and yea man that's why I can't part with it
Why not just get the internal card reader option? You mentioned you don’t save the beats so I’m assuming you don’t need the floppy’s or zips anymore.
I own the 2KXL and the value of them has increased a lot over the years but it ain’t because of the floppy drive being there…😂 it’s mostly because of the sound of the box and the internal card reader take 2 minutes to put in quite honestly.
Glad it’s working for you though👍🏾
I still got some old beats and sounds on my floppy's and the zip I wanna be able to revisit. Plus keeping the machine as original as possible maintains its value. Think of it like a classic car. But I ain't selling it anyway so whatever
Great vid
you can buy a scsi extension cable. less chance of it breaking off.
Good idea thanks
You should be able to plug the drive right into your SCSI without the the adapter..
Nope needs the adapter. Goes right into my 3000 no problem
Can you use the cable from the iOmega unit you have by plugging the card reader into the end that is in the iOmega drive and leave the other end in the MPC ? I'm thinking you may have to use the extra power adapter that came with the card reader to make sure it has power just like the iOmega when it's plugged into the MPC.
For whatever reason, it's working with the power cable. My mpc 3000 for whatever reason does need it. It's because my scsi fuse is burnt so I need the power on that one . Any mini USB cable u gave laying around should work tho
2:13 wtf 😂
I've never lost beats due to power outages. I do see the value in getting a better file management system though. Floppies and zip disks are not reliable.
Yeah the SD card is good. Def a game changer
Can you tell me what Mpc OS you were running while using the emulator?
What type of scsi adapter are you using to connect the card reader to the MPC?
It came with the card reader.
You need the adapter for The MPC2000.
I wanna hear the best that’s in the background around 1:20
Hey wats up. That's from a few yrs ago. Did that on my MPC 2kxl. Here ya go.
ruclips.net/video/IQ05Y8DcUhU/видео.htmlsi=zO1HvtATO7FQ_Kml
MPC Stuff ripped you off, Rabbit Hole computing (the manufacturer) sells the same thing for only $65.
That looks janky af. Install an internal drive and replace the floppy with compact flash. If you must use the 50 pin, use an adapter CABLE so you don’t have that ish sticking out the back.
In my 2000xl the floppy is replaced with compact flash over a scsi bridge, so I can use any size card. There is also an atapi compact flash inside the machine. That one is limited to 2gb cards because of the MPC os
Power outages suck on all platforms from pc to asr-10
Nothin but facts
What is the name of the adapter for the MPC??
Here u go. There is s cheaper option out there. I over paid but I bought it here.
www.mpcstuff.com/scsi-mini-sd-card-reader-portable-mpc-2000-mpc-3000/
Snoop around the interwebs you will find it cheaper though
what about an internal zuluscsi?
One question... Whats the max gig sd card you can use is it 8g or more?
All I know is mpc stuff gave me an 8gb. It says on the website it will only work with SD cards with smaller memory. I bought a few 1gb cards from Amazon too. They work well.
Power outage had me grinding my fucking teeth🤬🤬🤬
I don’t understand how this helps you save current unsaved screen work, that hasn’t been saved to disk when the unit unexpectedly loses power. Do you have the FMX008M Flash Rom board for the 2KXL in your unit? It prevents these types of losses.
Ahhhh… I see. You have the floppy disk drive. GotChu. Now it all makes sense. Although, I don’t think the value would change if you at least had a zip100 or zip250 drive in there. Besides, you got the sky blue fat pads by MPC stuff on there. I believe there’s a zip750 internal drive too, but I don’t think it reads zip100 disks. But I still suggest you get the FMX008M Flash Rom for the sake of power outages.
I'll look into it. I know nothing about it. And your right but I do have all my stock parts including the pads. Anyway thanks for watching 👍
and in the windows system how do i put a drum kit that i bought on the internet and are sounds in wav to put them in the micro sd and read it my mpc 2000xl through the zuluscsi
My bad I'm getting back to you so late. The samples must be 16 bit if they aren't they won't work .
If i put my operating system on A what partition can I load up my drums from computer ?
On mine I had to put it on A. I didn't see any other option. If you find a way to put it on other ones let me know
NICE KNIFE SURE HOPE YOU DON'T ROB PEOPLE WITH IT
I have the MPCX focus rite 8 pre and lunch box. I need help routing them. Can you help?
Sorry my dude all gear I don't have . But I bet it's gonna be nice once you hook it. Up. That's all good stuff
@@SauceSoundz what do you need help routing. How are you trying to output everything
Hey man! I just got a zuluscsi mini for my 2000xl with OS 1.14. When I format inside the 2000xl and try to open the SD card in windows, it shows the ISO file but doesn't mount like a drive. Do I need 1.20 OS for it to mount in windows? Thanks!
Hey man. So I got is 1.14 also. I have a Mac and it mounted no problem. I don't know if you have to install driver's on your PC or maybe the card reader or something isn't right? I'm sorry I can't help I did a quick search and got nothing
@@SauceSoundz all good! I actually figured it out, I think. MPCs read FAT16 partitions so I used PowerISO to open the image and than can use it like a drive.
@@markfeldman124 my man! Awesome! Hope this comment helps someone out too. Have fun we just extended the life of our machines 💪
As long as ur in the folder it'll only save to the folder....
How can I make my samples fit the 16 bit Mpc I have different drum and sample packs in my computer
I was only able to use my files that were already 16 bit. I did a quick search and saw u might be able to do it on your saw or in iTunes. I'm sure you wanna do it in a batch conversion. Couldn't find that. I'm sure if u dig around you'll find something. Sorry I can't help more
MPC Maid
For a music producer your audio level in this vid is really low. Are you familiar with 0 in 0 out basic 101 audio production ?
How do I get the adapter?
I got it on MPC stuff.com
Why u change your name?
It was just time for a change
first lesson, dont buy from MPC Stuff, that's just a scsi2sd v5.5
Thanks for that yea I learned that one a lil late haha. But it's actually great I got it working with my MPC 3000 too
Oh sick, tricky to get them working on the 3000 so that's money well spent @@SauceSoundz
That adapter looks awful and all that extea leverage will eventually snap your scsi card, this is just silly.
Yes gotta use a cable
