Hey guys!! It was about time for another Van Halen track, I really hope you enjoy! 🤘🏻...and what songs would you like to see me play next?! 🎸 Tabs Available Here :: bit.ly/39BIADY
Great job! For many of us old timer’s this is the first song we ever heard from Van Halen. I remember buying the album back in 1978, like it was yesterday.
It took VAN HALEN II to get on board. I was a guitar player and found the debut album a little bombastic but soon became very enamored of the first one. I was stoned on acid when I purchased the album and had an out of body experience that evening. Favorites are JAMIES CRYING and ice cream man.❤️
Yeah, this is right on! I remember the first time I ever heard Van Halen like it was yesterday and I just about lost my mind (in a good way ☺). I was in college and we were driving around on a scenic drive in my friend's car with this killer sound system. All of a sudden I hear Eruption. We actually had to pull over as it was the first time we had all heard it. And then Runnin' with the Devil played. I've been a huge VH fan ever since.
I was a freshman in high school when that album dropped. INSTANT fan. We used to have to cover all our school books to protect them and I would cover mine with old brown paper shopping bags. Then the first thing that would get drawn on them all was the VH logo before even the book title haha. Then of course by the end of the first week of school all the band logos were on them from AC/ DC, Boston to Zepplin. I have worn this album out on vinyl, on cassette, 8 track, and several CD versions still in the rack behind me here. R.I.P. Eddie the world shines a little less without you.
When I was in 5th grade I figured out how to draw the VH and ACDC logos, so all the kids would ask me to draw it on their book covers. But it wasn’t until 1984 came out that I actually started to hear the bands music and became a huge fan. I started playing guitar and haven’t quit since then. Eddie is the greatest.
@@jukeboxhero8137 crazy we grew up with soo many great bands, what a time to be young.. lucky.. You could go to concerts once a month. In the 80s I saw Iron Maiden warm up for Scorpions..
Thank you very much! I think it comes with time, but if I could give any tips I’d say try practicing with your eyes closed or in a dark room! It takes the stress away from having to know what’s going on all the time and you’ll get super familiar with your fretboard…so that when the lights come on, you don’t really need to see anyway ☺️
@@SophieBurrell I remember playing this song during a 4th of July Celebration in Oklahoma City, 1997! The weather was about 112degrees and the wind was blowing about 20miles per hour. During that time the sweat was pouring down into my eyes. I played the guitar parts as I was the only guitarist in our band “NOISE”. I was the only singer, also!!! Rough, I mean to tell you/after this song we played Hells Bells by AC-DC! The speakers fell off of the 50ft. Flatbed trailer, as it was our stage. Six, 4x12s in each cabinet, and 2, 15”subs, (the subs stayed). We just kept on playing and the speakers never lost connection. The stage crew just lined them up on the ground. Lol, hahahahaha, that was something!!!
You know someone's talented when you find yourself listening to her covers in the car rather than the original artist 🤣. She just makes that guitar sound so raunchy. Absolutely love it!
I LOVE the guitar riff on "Little Dreamer!" The bass and "ooh's" in the song, as well. My favorite on that album! You HAVE to hear it on earphones to pick out EACH part! It's GREAT!
You are such a joy to watch and listen to, I love when musicians show how much they like to perform. Keep up the great playing. Much love from Vermont ,, USA
Hola mi princesita como estas estas contenta de verdad vas a sacar las vacaciones.mi amor te estare esperando mi amor.besito de Roberto para mi sofia te amo de verdad.
I try to learn something from all the channels I view, the camera angles and audio here really help. I appreciate the time and effort that are put into them (videos).
I love how you're wearing a Led Zeppelin shirt while playing Van Halen lol. Great job on this one, I love the simple but sweet solos! I would love to see more Van Halen if you feel like it!! And congrats on 100k subscribers, you deserve every one of them!! ❤️
I have the 50W version of that amp & I love it. This was the first Van Halen song I learned how to play. The reason I learned it was my High School mascot was a Blue Devil & we have the oldest High School Football rivalry in the USA & we had a rally the day before the game & not only was I a football player I was also one of the few Rock musicians in my class so they asked us to play Running With The Devil at the rally. Which actually took place many many years before you were born in the early 80's. I also want to compliment you on being one of the best Guitarists I've seen in a long time. Keep rocking 🎼🎵🎶🤘
Never saw you before, but you're badass. To me the guitar is the most expressive instrument ever. You can do so much with it , from howling, weeping solos to shred to acoustic to huge polyphonic chords to jacking the whammy bar totally into some quarked out subdimension lol😅🥲🤟🎸. You can even _pray_ with the guitar.
Some of my favorite VH tracks: drop dead legs, dirty movies, secrets, hear about it later, amsterdam. 'Can't get this stuff no more' also rocks. Love the content 👌
I really like how you pulled off the beginning. Even the best players I see cover it struggle with what to do transitioning from the bass line to the 'piano' effect, then to playing the main riff.
I am sure EVH is smiling now, RIP. VH rose the ashes with a guitar he made from junk and created a mind blowing list of music that rocked the world. it makes me smile to see young people who get into that great old music.
Incredible job SOPHIE. Thanks for sharing. One of my favorite song from Van Halen. Keep the incredible content coming. Hope you have an amazing weekend. Much love
Brilliant as always... love this song and you're relaxed playing just suits it perfectly. Love to see RUclipsrs that cover songs singing along too, really shows you are into it!
Amazing. Do you study Eddie's finger placement as he played it, or do you just play it by ear? regardless you are very good. I've been listening to Van Halen since the early '80s, yeah I'm an old guy, and to me you played that flawlessly.
I learned this one by watching a couple of videos and piecing it together by ear ☺️ I haven’t actually paid attention to Eddie’s fingers on this one! Are they doing something particularly interesting haha? Thank you so much!!
Sophie, what a tribute to Eddie! I don't think David Lee Roth, would stay retired if you decided to join Van Hallen! That hat of yours has a very unique signature look. It is the same kind of look that makes Slash of Guns and Roses look like no other! Always wear that hat. Rolling stone would probably put you on the front cover in no time!
Awesome Job Sophie! Nailed the tone, more importantly, you nailed Eddies swing too. Which I don't mind admitting isn't easy to do. He was as much a master of rhythm as he was lead, if not more so. Tone sounded great too! Might have to pinch these settings for myself 😜. I'm the one, mean street or perhaps little dreamer! Some of my favourites from DLR era VH ✌keep on rocking!
Great band, great album, great vocal harmonies, great song (that slide whistle is off the hook!), great guitarist, great times great times great times ×10. 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
I was fortunate enough to see these guy's first tour open for and walk all over Black Sabbath. Jaw dropping to see this kid first outing. Saw the second tour also, easily as great.
Amazing tone! I love that song! A tip is to turn up the mids even more to 8. I think Eddie used all the midrange on his amp. When i play it i just turn the midrange up almost to 10. The slightly down tuned B string is very important too. I have the 50w Katana mk2, the best amp i ever have got.
I love the song, "Respect the Wind", Twister movie sound track Eddie did along with Alex. "316" is another good one he wrote for Wolfgang when he was born, 3/16/1991 What's so touching is, Eddie wrote 316 for Wolfgangs birth, Wolfgang wrote "Distance" for his Dad's passing! Kinda gets me right in the feels! ✌😎💨💨
First song from Van Halen I heard was Eruption which was aired on radios all day every day in France when I was a student. Second song I heard was Running With The Devil on the record I bought... Nice cover you made.
It’s fascinating to see how this song is actually played! And the contrast with technique as compared to your Pink Floyd covers. I can’t play at all, and had no idea… of the nuances that go into playing the guitar tracks on these classic songs, as traditional music videos are full of quick edits. Which makes it impossible to see what the musicians are actually doing. Thanks for sharing!
Another awesome cover. Other Van Halen songs you could do - Hot For Teacher - always popular Dance The Night Away - fun guitar tap harmonics part Drop Dead Legs - well this might get a lot of comments.
Sophie, Love your playing and laid back attitude. I recently purchased the Boss Katana MK-ll 100 Head. I've yet to play through it. But I think I will give it a go today.
Great playing! I love the amp. I have a Roland cube amp for jamming alone and it sounds incredibly clean and powerful. Roland/Boss make the best gear imo. I'm looking into your amp now for myself. Keep smiling and rocking like Eddie! I'll confess, your legs got me to click, but your playing made me stay.
LOVE my KATANA 100!! HUGE SHOUT-OUT to Katana with this amp! Would quite enjoy hearing you play VH "UNCHAINED". Great tone out of that PRS of yours. I've got the 594 that I ABSOLUTELY love and of course, a Gibby LP 50 Standard (2019).
