How do you handle absences at class? I would always talk with my professors the first day of class and introduce myself and explain what they can expect about the days I'm in the hospital...etc. I think all CF patients do it differently (telling or not telling profs), so just wondering what you have found that works for you?

What do you do for absences? I just started my first year of college today & my professors say I can only miss so many days or I'll be dropped because I'll fall to behind.

If you're registered with the disability services, you can get an accommodation called "excessive absences". For the schools I attended, the letter from the doctor just had to list all of the accommodations I would need like: excessive absences, extra time to complete tests and assignments, a note taker (this is designed for students with writing limitations but makes it much easier to get the missed notes *usually, this just means, another student just writes their notes on carbon or copy paper..no big deal). Most teachers, in my experience, are AMAZING and don't even care about "rules"...I just told them what I needed and it was no big deal. You're bound to run into a few poo nubs so go through the disability services, just in case!
