Thank You for featuring our card in Your video. We’re very happy it was an easy fix and that it will serve another retro enthusiast. The actual card You have is one of the first runs of these, maybe that’s why it looks a bit dated. The finish we usually go for is HASL - to keep the end user price down, but ENIG (at least for the contact fingers) is something we will definitely be looking into when ordering the next batch of boards.
Lovely stuff, Gadget! I've got one of these AAPro clones in my IBM PS/1 Model 2011 which doesn't come with ISA slots so I managed to build my own little riser board that houses both the AAPro and an XT-IDE card and somehow it all fits in that tiny case 🙂 For digital sound I use a Disney Sound Source a friend gave to me.. I had to add a little preamp board I made myself for the AAPro to be able to crank up the output level to mix it in with the output of the PC speaker in the monitor which has its own built in amp, making the AAPro Adlib output come nicely out of the original monitor. They're very quiet cards indeed. Must be below line level.. The original Adlib had a little preamp section and a volume pot on board to make up for that 👌
Nice simple fix for once. Its a good card but I had similar comments when I built mine that gold contacts would be worth the extra few £. I suppose though if you're just fitting it into your system once and never taking it out again it will probably be fine. It's just people like us constantly swapping things to test them that will wear it down. I approached AA about that and the fact that the edge isn't bevelled but they just put it down to cost.
Always a pleasure to hear the KGB soundtrack. Doesn't get nearly enough kudos. IMHO it's one of the greatest game soundtracks ever composed, and I'll argue better than Dune.
Its nice to get a win like that once in a while. I've got the same card. Got mine as a kit, the only issue I had was a dead opamp giving a distorted output. Once id swapped that out it sounds excellent.
12:16 Nice one, you remembered to duck under the motorbike. RoboCop was one of my favourite arcade games, I used to be able to one credit it, back in the day.
Wouldn't it be better if the edge with the contact fingers was bevelled? It seems to be square, that's usually not very good for the pins in the edge connectors.

I think with ENIG, this would be perfect! But it's amazing as is! Keep up the great work!

The best music in this video is your "No Second Prize" theme.😊
@@stephenwhite506 Nah lol, Dune sound track rocks on Adlib, and KGB is amazing too!

The PCB house we used back in the day did not do bevelling on edge connectors. The ones we sell now are made with 30° chamfered contact fingers.
@@aaproltd good to know! Thanks for clarifying that.
That must be the easiest fix you've ever done. 😄
what is the mame frontend are using ?
It's an old version of MAME using MameUI32
@@GadgetUK164 but were did you get all sound samples like in 11:11 ?
