Hi all. I see a lot of comments on this song, which makes me realize this song is not clear to many people. So I will attempt to explain the song below, hope it helps. The song is not about mother, or specifically your mother. This is a social satire, wherein maa refers to religion (as Hinduism considers the ultimate strength to be the female form eg. maa kali, durga etc) or society/nation (Bharat mata)!! The song starts with a very standard few lines wherein the singer is a man of faith, or a believer in "Maa". He is supposed to follow the rules, and tow the line. However he loses his way, and ends up breaking the rules and dictates of the overlords/leader/maa. The song then breaks down into the soft interlude where he talks about the forgiveness and kindness of "Maa" and how he was accepted back, and how he is overwhelmed by this kindness. This is wat religion, patriotism and nationalism is all about, accepting back and forgiving the devotee/follower inspite of their mistakes..... Right after comes the iconic bitterness- wherein we understand the full story which was hidden behind the beautiful tale of kindness "Age khub kore more mere dhore aay jadu bacha bole"- the humiliation, and abuse as long as we refuse to toe the line. Now the meaning of the song becomes clear. Society, religion and nationalism always works on the same priciple: Creating a beautiful picture of inclusiveness and kindness and belonging, but the truth is the outliers, the ones who dont follow are constantly harrassed, heckled and abused until they fall in line, and then its all about repeating the cycle. Eg.you can see how in recent India, anyone critical of the govt is being labeled by different terms and heckled, and canceled until they fall in line! Now we understand the "sneher shashon e " line is merely him repeating the state sponsored line-another outlier converted into parroting what he is supposed to say. Now he is a good follower! Rupam da at his bitter, nihilistic best in this song. I still get tingles when I hear the darkness in his lyrics and how its relevant all these years later!

...for very obvious reasons, like a basejumper who hates to travel in a ropeway...except for the first album and a few songs from the second one, most of Fossils songs can hardly be qualifiesd as rock...but we r amongst few communities in India who have the capability of making rock music and Fossils first album surely outdid the other bands in Delhi, Mumbai or Bangalore...those who believe we cant make rock music, find out Krosswindz's "Path gyache beke" and listen to it, best work, period.....
