    What does an aux pump do?

    • @LateModelPerformance
      @LateModelPerformance  2 месяца назад +2

      Aux is short for "Auxiliary" Fuel Pump, it pulls fuel from the tank in addition to the stock fuel system to feed the extra fuel needed when running Ethanol.

    Question for you guys, I have a Camaro ZL1 manual, 2022. I bog off the line when I dump the clutch and from the research I’ve done, there’s apparently factory torque management that cause this? And this can be fixed with a tune? Have you guys heard of this?

    • @cbutler4645
      @cbutler4645 2 месяца назад

      Your 1st problem is your dumping the clutch. Why would you do that unless you're just trying to cook the tires?

    • @hardluck7893
      @hardluck7893 2 месяца назад

      @@cbutler4645 no offense and not to argue but have you never dragged race before in a manual? 3500ish rpms and go homie. I’ve driven manual transmissions and raced for 30 years. What do you think people did before cars came with line lock and launch control? You think front tires come off the ground in drag races because people are feathering the clutch on launches? Your goal is to get all that power going forward when the light hits green. You go to slicks to get the power to hook when you drop it. People upgrade rear ends, and drive shafts to make sure they don’t break when all that torque hooks off the line. You don’t now and no one ever has feathered a clutch unless you know you’re not going to hook up. You feather the clutch on unprepped surfaces or when you’re running street tires, I.e. you know you’re not going to hook up. For the fastest times, manual transmissions always have and always will be chasing traction so they can, in fact, dump the clutch to get that power to the ground and moving forward as FAST as possible.
      It may very well just need to be me messing around with launch rpm’s and the like. But without a doubt I have found through my research that ZL1’s 100% have a torque management system built into the ECU that has caused other people the same problem as well when trying to launch hard on a drag strip. I was simply trying to find out if they have experienced anything like that before, which I’m sure they have, and more importantly, if tuning has been used to curb the system or even disable it completely.

    • @cbutler4645
      @cbutler4645 2 месяца назад

      @hardluck7893 On the contrary I raced dragbikes for many years. Dump the clutch on a dragbike and watch it flip over unless you're running a slider clutch. Always feather with correct RPMs, slick or street tire unless your John Force or Antron Brown. Anyway best of luck in your build.

    • @hardluck7893
      @hardluck7893 2 месяца назад

      @@cbutler4645 bikes are a little different dynamic than cars for sure. A lot harder to flip a car on its roof especially since 90% of the time all the weight is in the front with engine. A little easier on bikes because there isn’t a lot of weight in front of the “fulcrum”, in this case the rear wheel. So yes, I can see how working the clutch becomes a lot more important especially if you don’t have a wheelie bar or extended swing arm in regards to racing bikes. I have seen cars with wheelie bars, but by the time you’re throwing one of them on, you usually got all the rest figured at that point anyways, but yes, 9/10 or in rare cases would have a car where there’s enough power to hook up enough to throw the engine all the way over the rear wheels. This is why launching in cars is different. With these newer cars like my ZL1, there is so much controlled by the computer now, even down to wheel slip and such, it’s actually insane. It’s definitely not like the old days that’s for sure. Probably just more learning on my part, but the challenge is what makes it fun. Thanks for your input. Wish you luck and stay safe.

      These cars you need to slip the clutch rather than dump it. Dumping it will shock the drive line and just bog the car down or hit the tires and make the TC unhappy. Slipping the clutch, while hard on the clutch, allows for a smooth but fast launch. Hope this helps.

    I'll never understand the point or thought process behind adding more power 2 a luxury car. If you want a sports car get a sports car. Maybe it's just me but if i want a corvette 4 it 2 be stop light king then I'll get a vette. If I get a caddy it's so i could can relax & chill 😎, not try & compete with vettes & mustangs & hellcats. Nothing wrong wit adding a lil summin summin but IMO you bought the wrong car if you want your caddy 2 make 8 or 900 horsepower. Just my opinion & no hatred 2 anyone who goes that route. Love the channel & the work you guys do 💯💯💯
