There’s a book titled ‘Don’t Cry For Me Sergeant Major.' It was written by a journalist who accompanied British Troops in the battle for the Falkland Islands. It really gets under the skin of what it is to be a combat soldier. It will make you laugh and it will make you cry, it will make you proud and it will make you angry. All those people died so that some politicians could transfer public attention away from troubles they had at home.
This is one of your best stories yet. Because it's real. I'm ex military and we all understand this. War isn't fun, or something we want. But, when war comes, you better be the best at it, or you will lose. And mentality is the defining reason why wars are won or lost. Because the question that really matters is WHY.
This one hit hard. I graduated in 1975, the year after the Vietnam War ended. This brought back long buried memories of the young men I had looked up to in grade school and jr. high. The ones that came home in coffins. The ones who never got to have families and children of their own. And I cried.
@@MH5XXXX my unit was kinda always in action one way or another. I never wear anything related to combat. And I do not thank them. It was our job and we volunteered.
My husband was in armed combat a few times. Some years ago he went back to Cyprus, he had been there with the UN when he was just a kid really. They took rest time from the fighting in a house and carved their initials or names on a sandstone pillar. They were still there all those years later, his, his comrades and those who went home in coffins. He cried for his lost mates, lost to politicians' egos, he was 19, so many years ago now. My respect to you and a hug sent. Take care.
This is one of the best stories I have heard so far. It was totally gripping. The only thing that ruined it, and nothing within the story, was the damn adverts. As a narrator, I have been doing stories (over two channels) for the last 4 & 1/2 years, and this one was the most gripping I have heard to date!!!
I'd say the AI narration, though better than most, is the worst part of this video. I listened to this using an ad blocking brows3r, so ads weren't a problem.
@@Eidolon1andOnly Yeah the ads are a pain. So google said recently, their new updates will block all/most of ad blockers, even in-built browser ones. I have found that to be bs. If I am on my laptop I use Brave mostly, and that does block the adverts. On my phone, I use the yt app and the ads are getting so annoying, especially as they are literally every few minutes! As far as I remember, content creators can set how many adverts they want to appear and where in the videos. I think that many creators are now just not bothering to deal with this. This means then, that we see so many of these ads that it is getting ridiculous!
I've always loved and respected our military and veterans, this story strengthened both. I'll never forget 9/11. Trying to get through to my husband's family that lived in New York. The years he gone more than he was at home in the aftermath.
I have been listening for a couple of hours and these stories remind me about my time as an officer. This last story reminded me why we fight even after losing a part of ourselves. I rubbed one foot against the other, this is where it’s plastic, my hip bone but I still wanted to fight. That’s why we are the Gods of War…
Never been to war but this story tells why we may never start a fight but will do our best to finish it. Sun Tzu said something like the greatest battle is the one you never have to fight.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
The Crusaders were so bloodthirsty when they took the first towns that surrendered to them, they killed almost everyone. Soon, nobody would surrender to them, they had to destroy the fortifications in a long drawn-out siege, leaving themselves open to counter-attack. Human bloodthirstiness is well documented.
I grade in 1962,out of a military high school,in Pennsylvania, age 17,and had a good grounding in military history! My history teacher,Capt. Stuart, was on the Pennsylvania State Civil War Commission, and we literally learned about that war, from the Southerners point of view! This fact, nowadays is forgotten,as the propaganda has priority of the real causes of wars, and in many cases, the real reasons are, group's Profits, and revenge for real, and imagined slights, and insults! One thing,I learned, especially, since I was in Texas, when JFK,was murdered, and the perpetrators got away with it! The worst enemy is the one within, not the scapegoat, selected to keep the attention on the outer, not the inner!! History repeats, because, the propaganda machine, regurgitates the same old formulas, with the new enemy, replacing the old! See 1984,by Orwell, says it all! Thank you for your attention! Thank you 😇 😊!
As the late great Chesty Puller said we have been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded that simplifies things.
This is one of the few HFY stories that are actually good and not full of a bunch of high minded ideals and overtly cowardice, ridiculous nonsense. One other thing, whoever wrote this has based it solely on American style combat and how we wage war. A type of warfare where politicians are responsible for more of my Marines deaths than our actual enemy! And that is generally the real price of mercy!
This reminds me of a story where Humanity is actually an alien experiment to create the perfect soldiers for war... But the alien makers deemed Humanity.... *"Too Perfectly Suited"* when it comes to war which upon discovering decided to leave hoping humanity would wipe eachother one day.
Three stories woven together perfectly as one. The fact that it takes place in outer space is practically secondary. The story stands on its own, in its humanity. Literally brought tears to my eyes.
Human ( for the 7th or 8th time) “ do you want to know why they call us the gods of war?” Alien “ Dude, nobody, LITERALLY NOBODY, calls you guys that! “
I can't say that AI always writes well or that it writes good stories. there are many channels like this one and a lot of the material has errors, is nonsensical or very repetitive. I say this both as a former technical writer and a recent sci-fi author. Having said all that, this one isn't bad at all. What I like about all of these AI stories is they put an opposite spin on the "poor pathetic weakling human" narratives we find in Star Trek, etc. I have no desire to copy any of these stories, but each one may have some little nugget of inspiration for a series I plan to write in the future. Regards, Vorion Rojas
I hope my previous comment was bot reh=jected. i don't see it. This one is quite above average compared to the other AI stories. Thumbs up. My only "critiques" are that the narrator says 'in their language...to skin a cat'. Firstly, we have many languages on Earth. Secondly, the cat analogy is only in English to my knowledge (I speak five languages), but may appear in a handful of others. Lastly, how would an alien listening to this even know what a cat is? Despite my critique, this AI story is much better than the others I have seen on Youpoop.
Great story, but- the Rods from God program was recently scrapped as a failure. Too expensive and doesn't do anything that conventional weapons don't already do. So having it be a futuristic tactic doesn't really make sense.
"Why Humanity is the Galaxys Most Terrifying Warrior Species" I can answer that. The same reason why I'm a top worker. I don't care much and I just want to have fun but at the end of every day I've done more work than what was expected from me. While other aliens think 4 of 8 working hours about how important their work is and how dutiful they are performing their job...most of us are just doing our 8 to 5 job and head home. Sometimes because of our wifes...family we even work more. And tomorrow we do the same. No matter how unimportant or disgusting our job is. WE overperform every day. So those aliens can think half the workday about how great they are and how important they are. 😉
In the United States, our latest endeavors are costing us 22 veterans per day. Think on that for a while, I'll be visiting some grave sites in the meantime.
I read somewhere that since the end of the Second World War there has only been one day in which a military person somewhere has not died in combat. Now that is frightening.
As a veteran, I truly understand this story. Thank You
