on the western slope of Velatouri hill is the center of the ancient municipality of Thorikos. Today, the theater, parts of the settlement and the facilities where the metals were processed, a square tower of the 4th century BC, the cemeteries and the sanctuary of Demeter and her daughter are preserved from the ancient municipality. The settlement known as the industrial city extends on the rocky downhill slope of Velatouri hill.
The theater of Thorikos is considered the oldest in Greece and unique for its peculiar elliptical shape. It was built on the natural amphitheater slope on the south side of Velatouri hill at the end of the 6th century BC. In the middle of the 5th c. e.g. the orchestra extended to the middle of the 4th c. e.g. the upper cornice was constructed with a monumental retaining wall. Next to the western passage, the small temple of Dionysus was founded. On the east side there is a large hall with a desk carved into the rock, which was probably a gathering place. Next to the west window of the theater there was a house with a five-bed man (a banquet room) and a courtyard. It is separated from the theater by a narrow path that ascends the slope.
