I grew up in the hardcore/metal/punk scene and never listened to new hip hop and stayed with the dmx, dre, nas, biggy, and tupac I was used to. A girl I was dating at the time left this CD in my stereo after borrowing my car. Stayed on after the first track. Opened my eyes to the fact that I missed a lot of good shit post 2001.

  • @Fade2BlackSS

Maaaan, this album was THE album of 2008. Every time you turned on the radio, you were going to hear something from this album. Lollipop, Mr. Carter, Ms. Officer, Comfortable, Got Money, A Milli, Tie My Hands were all on heavy radio rotation in Chicago.
And yeah, to answer your question about Got Money being a banger in the club, it totally was. I turned 21 in 2009 and it was STILL being played then.
Edit: It's funny you guys bring up his cadence as well. Back then almost every rap artist that came out tried using that same flow that Wayne had here. Big Sean, Mac Miller, Childish Gambino, Diggy Simmons. Drake sounded just like Wayne during the "So Far Gone" era. But yeah, newer artists like Young Thug have mentioned that Wayne was one of his biggest influences if not the biggest.

Another great album. It would be cool to see reactions to Kendrick's earlier works like Section 80, Overly Dedicated and The Kendrick Lamar EP, cos he is also anong the artists that were influenced by Lil Wayne and it shows a lot in his early works.

    Great reaction again!
Even in The Netherlands where hiphop in general wasn't that big at the time, A Milli was the biggest thing ever in the clubs and Lollipop everywhere else. Makes sense you don't know anything about Juelz Santana considering your age but that entire Dipset movement was crazy popular for while.
Very cool he has a feature on this because I've been waiting on a Busta Rhymes album. As you guys say, he is such a legend!! Or do a couple of his singles...

When this album first came out. P Monster was not on the album. Playing with Fire, which fits the album better in my opinion, was the original track on there. They replaced Playing With Fire with P Monster due to sample issues. I wish your dad could have heard that song. Wayne has one of his realest and best verses on that track where he talks about almost killing his step father for beating his mom. You should definitely show that song to your dad.
