I just have to say that Bugoy Drilon is among my top 3 male Pinoy singers right now, the other two being Daryl Ong and Michael Pangilinan (BUDAKHEL for short). Bugoy's success is also very inspiring! He's a runner-up in the local talent reality show "Pinoy Dream Academy". He was a student working as the school janitor from the province when a friend encouraged him to audition for the same. The rest as they say is OPM history. I hope you can react to BUDAKHEL and Katrina Velarde's "Balang Araw" MV. Here's to the next goal post 10K which I'm sure is just around the corner! I believe the cultural background of this song is related to an old traditional Filipino serenade. If you want to court a Filipina, in our old custom, you do it at night singing under her window - my father did that to my mother. That tradition ceased by the 60s. The lyrics of Buwan are modern and suggestive whereas the lyrics in the olden days are very gentle. Bugoy differs strongly from Karlos by making the lyrics not so suggestive and succeeding in wooing the listeners (women) by the reggae and his wooing and manly voice.

I really wish you know the English translation of the song lyrics so that you can fully connect to it. I prefer the original version simply because it doesn’t have that many stuff going on, for me less is more. Sometimes you only appreciate how amazing the vocal techniques and forget to grasp the essence of the song. No offense to Bugoy he’s a great artist, no doubt about that. I just prefer the original.
