Being assigned as a replacement in a Signal Platoon, our Dog Tag owner was probably a Radio Operator or a Wireman. He was probably at entry level in his skill field fresh out of school. As a Radio Operator he could work in a Tactical Operations Center, a Company HQ or at the Platoon level. He would be in his Platoon Leader's hip pocket ready to relay requests and spot reports from the platoon to next higher. And to relay orders from next higher to the platoon leader. As a Wireman, he would be responsible for laying wire between the commo operations center and the supported units. He may also get to have switch board duty. Keep up the good work.
U are such a good man i glad one i can find a unopened bunker with guns, ammo, flags and bodies i think it will be scary but discover that would be just .......
My good friend you are the David Attenborough of WW2 history. The things you find never cease to amaze me. That dog tag. Holy Madonna. To hold that piece of history and humanity in your hands must have been humbling. You never cease to amaze, educate and excite me with your videos. Take care brother.
every time you uncover a solders dog tag it brings tears to my eyes. i watch a lot of documentaries and was wondering if you have ever had a chance to explore the HURTGEN FOREST HILL 400? a lot of action happened there. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! for all your hard work. i always enjoy your adventures like i always say you take me to places i will never get to see with my own eyes and that means a lot to me THANK YOU MY FRIEND!!
Fantastic find on the ID, it would be nice to be able to have access to the paper records to see the name of #513 and see what happened to him. Great work as always. Stay safe out there.
We will do more research and will share whatever we find later. Lots more coming up from this great location. Thanks again William for your incredible support to our work and because of you and other doing that we can explore even more. Stay safe in these unsteady days and greetings from us.
Every time you call the little man eagle eye's, it brings a smile to my face from the memory of when you first started calling him that those few years ago! It seems like it was just yesterday, but it's been years since I've been enjoying your hard work and wonderful videos from you and your kinder!I feel privileged to have been a part of viewing your family grow up.thank you immensely.
Wow, thank you my friend and i agree and do you know how he got that nick name ? He spotted a small pin from a cockpit instrument i found when he was just 2 years old. I lost it down on the ground and he spotted it before me and i said to him " good job Eagle Eyes " and it stuck to this day :) Thanks my friend
Great finds, the dog tag is going to be the history book to who wore that tag, age, name and when he enlisted and when he passed away I hope you are able to find the information on him that way a family has closure.....

Greetings from Germany and many thanks for your wonderful work! I felt so honored to watch you find the dog tag from the german soldier! And I felt kind of touched by the way you treated it and how excited you were to find it! Thanks so much for your humble work and that you try to find out who it belonged to! Thank you again, really cool finds, as I told you I'm looking to dig some old trash pits at an old abandoned air field, it was in operation during WW2 I hope to find some interesting things. I love your enthusiasm, when you get excited, I get excited too.👍👍👍👍👍
Wow history hunter . What a special find. I got tears in my eyes when I realized it was from a fallen soldier. We’re you able to find his family. Thanks for all your wonderful work 💜💜💜👍👍👍
Wow! Magnificent find with the I'd tag. I love the finds from the trash pits it really becomes more personable to me that there was a real person under the uniform. I hope you were able to find his family and were able to return it to them and also maybe find out a little more about who he was. Best wishes from the UK
thank you so much for sharing your amazing finds. yesterday i found a forgotten stock mine field in a forest in denmark. So far I have found 30 stock mines
The Trash piles you explore turn up so much history. It tells a lot of the everyday life of the soldiers and the camp. The 45 cartridge was probably from a captured allied officer or advancing allies colt 1911 pistol. What are the odds of finding it and a K98 cartridge in the same trash pile? It’s surprising the number of buttons and game pieces you come across in these areas. Unusual to find the three belt hooks also. So many interesting artifacts coming from here.
These little finds are so wonderful. It tells so much about daily life of a soldier. I envy Eagle Eyes. I would love to sift dirt. I love finding little things. The trouble is that I can’t seem to stop for the day😊
Marvellous findings and I hope you are able to find the relatives of that soldier. Please keep us informed about your search. Thanks, as ever, to you and Eagle Eyes!

What an awesome find. Wouldn’t it be great if the young man who lost that dog tag survived the war and was still alive today. Imagine what he may be able to tell you about his life during the war and after. I know the odds are very slim, but just imagine. Good luck in trying to track down his family. I’m looking forward to your updates on your search for this family.
That Dog Tag, was such a great find. Hopefully you can find out more about the owner, and his history. Locating that trash pit must have been a Holy Madonna moment. So much personal history, and experiences, locked up under the soil. Certainly makes you wonder, Who, What, Where, about the soldiers who left all that rubbish behind. Thank you both for another fantastic peek into History. Cheers my friends!
