Clearwater Florida, nextdoor to Tampa here as well. My business has recently required my presence in the downtown Tampa area at all hours of the day and night, a couple times as early as 4:00 AM. No tent cities, no tents on the sidewalks, very few San Francisco like folks wandering around at all. I don't know where Jessica obtained her "facts" about Tampa, but I see no evidence of such.

As a former Californian who lived in the state for 28 years and only left 7 months ago, I can tell you that Newsom is extremely delusional in his Woke ideology. We were the last state to reopen after the Pandemic because he knew he'd have to give up his emergency powers so he fought it til the end. We had a 126 Billion dollar surplus at the end of 2022 and somehow under his leadership we went from that to a 26 Billion dollar deficit within 3 months of 2023. You can't go to the parks, the beaches, or the malls without seeing huge homelessness encampments and used drug paraphernalia laying in the grass, sand, and streets. He cleaned up a small section of San Francisco so that China's leaders would see a nice city and spent tens of millions to do it. We washed all that human waste and used drug paraphernalia into the storm drains and into the sea. He is one of the most corrupt Democrats in the nation, just behind Joe and Hunter.

It also didn't help that the Republican party did not fully support him, however, I understand their position. I grew up in New York. I moved to CA in 1973. At that time when I would visit NY and mention that I was now in CA people would say, "wow, you live in CA! That is so cool". Now when I travel to NY, if I tell someone I'm in CA they say things like "Oh, really. I was thinking about going there on vacation but decided against it".
The really telling part of the Desantis-Newsome debate was at the end where Newsome pointed-out that neither of them would be running in 2024. If you saw it you know what I mean - he said it in such a way that you got the distinct impression he was openly challenging voters to support him over Biden and was hinting that he would be on the ticket. I've lived in CA my entire 65 years and I've NEVER seen things as dictatorial, regulated or the state government operating so against the public's best interests, Gavin is like Biden on steroids.

Exactly. I was in Tampa this year and SF many times in 2019. There is no comparison. SF is an open sewer with bodies everywhere. I didn't actually see any homeless in Tampa (although there must be some).

Recently visited Vietnam and asked my wife why in some cities it appears that there a 0 homeless. She laughed and told me that it is because the government comes and collects them. A citizen makes a call and they will come and get the person and take them to a holding facility. The family has to pay to get them out, and if there is no family, they stay in.
This is the opposite way of dealing with the issue compared to paying homeless.

@nunyabeeswax3112, actually if you look up the demographics of CA you're likely to find "whites being the largest portion of the ~40 MILLION people" but if you look at the census data, non-Hispanic whites make up less now than actual Hispanic/Latinos which is more in line with reality because the state has the highest numbers of "unlawfuls", at least initially being right on the border, opening it's doors to them for decades. Because of it's huge population it also has the largest number of electoral votes because of the high numbers of "representatives" created to "represent those 'constituents' " when in essence they're NOT "constituents", they're invading exploiters Dems opened the border to so they could count their heads in census years to not only get their hands on the "increase in federal tax dollars that will be allocated to the state" but the increase in electoral votes.
Recall trash Dems have claimed "WE ARE SANCTUARIES FOR THESE MIGRANTS!!!", is it any surprise that so few states are actually "blue" YET they have significant numbers of "electoral votes" because of the sizeable populations which can then allow Dems to be able to win elections despite the fact that about 90% of the electoral map is RED. It's because of the high population counts in those Dem-controlled states which is mostly from the numbers of "migrants" they brought into their "sanctuary cities/states." It amazes me how few people even see what they've been doing for decades and how Republicans have been virtually "asleep" along with the number of complicit Rinos.... I’m a registered nurse in San Francisco. I took this job in September. This town is so bad the streets are nasty covered with everything under the sun you have to watch your footsteps, even outside grocery stores. The homeless and drugs the schizophrenic the demons it’s out of control. The patient population we have are severe alcoholics and drug addicts lots of them go on life support. It’s AWFUL. May God have MERCY on this place.

@@tonabnehmer9407i live in North Alabama. No armed guards at our stores. As a matter of fact, Huntsville was voted as the #1 city to live in in 2022. People here are God fearing, family oriented, football loving, polite, and don’t poop on the streets. Now I can’t speak for Birmingham - but it’s a Blue city and seems pretty nasty as Blue cities often are (though the medical college/facility at UAB is top notch).
