Another thought came to me. There are so Many people you have touched in a positive way. It takes a special person to do this type of work without wanting the notoriety of being "famous". You have earned our respect and admiration and yet we don't know your name or what you look like. I feel as though I truly know you though, through your stories. It has made me realize that a person's name or how they look has nothing to do with who they are. Cheers to you!

$500 in 1969 is staggering really. I remember my dad in mid-late 70’s spending £800 on a 3-in-1 system. He did like his tech. Our house in 1975 was purchased for £9000 I think. Imagine spending nearly 10% the value of your property on a SINGLE hifi now!!

I'll be 53 in November... This is so reminiscent of the 70's when I was growing up. I had a one speed Columbia 20 inch bike with banana seat and high rise handlebars that I bought from my neighbor for $5 that I loved. On the way home with it I went right over the handlebars on their steep driveway not wearing a shirt, got some wicked road rash on my chest and broke my glasses 😏. Rode wheelies on that thing all the time...Used wadded aluminum foil to remove light rust from the chrome. Thank you for an excellent relaxing video 😁 Western Auto really had it going on 😉

I was very tired and played this right as I lied down for an afternoon nap. I couldn't tell you when I fell asleep (must've been almost instantaneous) but I woke up around the time you were looking at the tires. Your voice had been narrating something in my dream, something completely unrelated.
    (edit:)
Wow, I was curious so just went back a couple of minutes in the video.... Some of the things you say are "had to be replaced", "wiper blades"(where the word "purple" could be understood), and "jacks" - well, the last part of my dream was about this queen that had passed away and how she *had to be replaced* , followed by a description of the court (apparently a farewell ceremony) where the predominant colours where green and *purple* and some of the people in attendance seating on these decorated benches were life sized *jacks* , like jacks from a deck of cards. It seems that in the light sleep of my afternoon nap your words were loosely guiding the events in my dream - and that's just the part I can remember. Interesting.

The high price of TVs explains why back then there were TV repairmen. My dad did that as a side gig when money was tight. Nowadays, people will just often junk their TVs rather than getting them repaired. It's kind of sad and wasteful, but when you look at the price of TV's today when adjusted for inflation, it almost doesn't make sense to get them repaired, assuming the cost is over several hundred dollars. That being said, it would be nice if people would repair rather than replace. So much stuff just ends up in a landfill.
