Keith was brilliant. Imagine arresting this man for something city’s were later clamoring to hire him to paint. He revolutionized art culture by making it assessable for everyone, not just the wealthy.
what a man! I have found a new appreciation for Keith, as artist who is going to school to better articulate my artistic language, I find myself looking up to Keith and his approach to life and art. I wish for anything to have time with him or to be a witness of his creations for now I am to honor his work and his philosophy. To creating new life, not imitating, to creating art for art💌
I’m reading the new biography, “Radiant: The life and line of Keith Haring” by Brad Gooch . Fantastic read which has opened my mind and sent me here to learn more .
Pretty sure thats Charles Kuralt speaking over the video. He did a series called "on the road" for CBS for 30 years, going out and meeting people you would never have heard of. Local heroes and characters from all over the country. You all should all check out that show. Both amazing guys. RIP Keith and Charles.
I adore his work so much, lovely how even I, a non-talented guy can draw figures similiar to his. So many open-ended meanings, leaves a broad space for the imagination, always moves something in my soul.
I love his work. Harring showed me that you don't have to overload the human eye with excessive detail on a painting and you can just use simple shapes and vibrant colors to make pieces of art. I also love how they just look like simple doodles on paper. I like it.❤
This video plays at the Radiant Vision exhibit. I saw two subway pieces there, it was absolutely wonderful. You can see how quick witted and fun he was as a person.
Truth be told; he wasn't arrested for graffiti. He was arrested because, he isn't a huge corporation, that could pay for advertising; eventhough, the MTA, is state funded.
all respect to keith but that guy was just doin his job. imagine how much other vandalism he deals with working nyc in the 80's. but i know what youre saying
I found one of his shirts with a drawing similar to these drawings. I picked it up and was like that looks familiar where have a seen this. Then it dawned up me, this is a Keith Haring drawing. So glad I bought it.
Live fast, die young, leave an oeuvre devoid of any aesthetic merit, many items of which will be sold to clueless bourgeois philistines for $ millions, 30 years after you are dead. Yeah! I want to be an artist! The cognoscenti will exclaim OOH! and AH! at what a visionary genius I was. What am I waiting for? Where do I sign up?...😅
You have hit the nail on the head when it comes to "Pop Art", or "Popular Art". Keith like Andy Warhol, rode the wave of popularism that engulfed the art world from the 70's and into today's art scene. Yes, Keith was a nice guy. I briefly met Keith near the end of his life through a mutual childhood friend. He was very humble about his fame and affable, but during our short meeting, he did not talk much. I learned after his death that when I met him, his doctors told him the gravity of his medical condition. He had only months to live. While I agree that his artistic talents where not on par with Rembandt nor DaVinci, nor Dali nor Picasso, he was a pasionate humantarian. He painted the first floor of Woodhull hospital in Williamsburgh Brooklyn. I call his art style "Smileable". His characters are simple yet convey the childlike love of life that I beleive most of us can relate to. I am sorry that he is no longer with us.

No, it's actually Charles Osgood.
❤❤❤❤❤ Wow very inspirational. I just shared this video with someone who's 16 years old to open up possibilities of creation.

Thanks for posting this!
Rest his beautiful soul
My favorite Pop Artist

Love this piece... the video quality and production is outstanding! Thank you for uploading it.
Such a talented artist
So sneaky ... but Keith Haring was so so awesome Love his art work
It's not my taste in art, but I respect him for creating his own style rather than copying other already established artists.

A true artist. He is missed dearly ❤
This makes me want to draw again. I love bold lines and color like this, it’s such a joy and I miss it.
RIP Keith,gone too young.😓

Creating art is an extension of your expression
40 years ago now… 😮❤
Rip BabyBoy
Two legends! RIP, Charlie.
His drawing is so great. And until I already found my favourite artist is him. I wish I was him. And I’m crying about his death.
This is amazing!!!
R.I.P. Keith Haring!
0:34 When I was in school and than I drew on the blackboard during a break.
Genius !!!! ! 💝
He's the original Banksy.
No entiendo cómo dejan anuncios sobre consumo de alcohol en el metro y detienen a un artista mejorando el mundo....
Fantastic!
Keith!

A huge corporation could plaster the whole subway with advertisements if graffiti was fair game.
What a fool that cop must feel like. Seriously, tho

Awesome.
rip 🐐
0:55 "short *lived*"?
My mom used to have one of those square faces with all the eyes it was very small like a baseball card.
He sold the big one for 15 grand. I wonder what that piece is worth now.
He inspired me to be a cartoon artist
I just saw one of his arts get appraised for 50k on the antiques roadshow

Thank you! Finally someone else who gets it.
@@TranscendentaLobo27 you're quite welcome.
0:30 a million drawings\graffitis of the same few characters
All these comments gushing over his work, I just don’t get it. He seems like a really nice guy, he just wasn’t that talented.

Crazy how he got arrested for something they would pay him a $50k minimum today. Let alone his work that’s in the millions
