Finally, someone who also thinks that this movie is awesome. I absolutely LOVE the G.I. Joe movies, both Rise of Cobra and Retaliation. As a big Transformers fan who loves the live action Michael Bay films, I decided to give the G.I. Joe movies a go for fun because of their similarities in terms of source, studio, and other aspects. Despite the fact that, unlike Transformers, I really didn't know that much about G.I. Joe going into the movies, I had such a stupid fun time watching them. I really don't get why their considered to be absolutely terrible movies, especially when you take into consideration all the points you made in this vid. Their unlike most action or hero movies these days, where now they gotta be deep and have some political statement or something. G.I. Joe is just high tech soldier guys fighting high tech terrorists guys for almost 2 hours and I LOVE it. My favorite part of these movies being Cobra Commander. He's got such a great villain energy that's just so entertaining. His actor in the first movie, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, signed on for the role simply because he saw the Commander mask and basically said, "I get to wear THAT? Cool! I'm in!" And when your watching him in Rise of Cobra, you can tell he's just having a great time as the character. I'm sure he would've come back for Retaliation, but despite the fun he had in the role, I don't think he was about to turn down a movie like The Dark Knight Rises for G.I. Joe, which I can understand. All that being said, I was kinda on the fence about Cobra Commander going into the second movie. Ive never been a fan of actor changes in roles, it's just confusing when you think of it in universe, like Edward Norton to Mark Ruffalo as Hulk for example. However, I think they really pulled it off. They made Cobra Commanders new actor, Luke Bracey, look enough like Gordon-Levitt via make up that it's actually above passable. Then they gave him that updated, more cartoon inspired mask for the rest of the movie with a voice that also sounds like Gordon-Levitts Commander voice. Love it! Wish they did more with Destro, because... It's Destro... But it doesn't ruin the movie by any means. Can't pick my favorite movie of the two, but Im happy see someone else who realizes the greatness of Retaliation and made a fantastic video about it, underrated video and channel.
