    Just recently I played trio with a couple friends of mine. one of them is an aram enjoyer and the other I really haven't played with that mutch, so I've played solo for the most part, and it sure was a nice change to play with friends and vc. I played jg, one friend was bard support and the other one was mid/top. Having the voice chat to communicate objectives/roams/invades with not tilted people was so nice and the games went like a breese, so fun

      It's a blast with casual friends for sure, but easily tilted friends can make the experience even worse than solo. I've experienced both. I was on a league team in middle school, and though I was mostly quiet, they said they enjoyed playing with me. When I got flamed they would defend me, when I felt I played bad they said it's fine you still play better than our teammate :D I still treasure those days. A few months ago I was on a three people friend group, and one of them was so insanely easy to tilt, the kind of person who presses surrender instantly after a bad play unironically. One time we dove their tower while they were three men, I was Alistar and he was Sylas, we both died and I made a joking "That was kinda bold haha" comment, not as an attack on the play but just some snarky meaningless remark. He proceeded to go on a tangent as to why I played like ass there and even opened a replay and explained what I did wrong like a presentation. There were many times he got tilted for me following my own play rather than go with his, and it was like every time I said something, no matter how jokingly, he would find a way to understand it in the most negative extreme. That event was the final straw. We aren't friends anymore :

    I've never had a bad experience joining champ select discord calls. Not once. It's always made the game more enjoyable, and easier to play since I'm able to communicate with other people on my team. Closest I've had to a bad experience was a post-game call where this dude was losing his mind the entire game in chat, and even that was a surprisingly civil discussion of the game. He was still an asshole, but compared to his in-game behaviour it was night/day.

      A lot of bad things can happen in voice chat . One people can’t focus on two things at once, unless you’re a pro player , they’re not chatting about their lives , they’re giving quick call commands and initiatives then complimenting after the play . A lot of players can’t do that with strangers . Second the game would be so much more toxic and it’s already the number one toxic game . Forcing people to talk and socialize is a weird concept when alot of introverts are socially inept . This would have a negative effect on girl gamers too. Punishment would be muting you for weeks while others can flame you now in voice chat . Not everyone can speak into mic , due to family reasons or toxic reasons or being shy and the player base will go down a lot . Maybe in 5 years when the game dies a bit they’ll add it in.

      @@ogbobbyjohnson3502smells like some bullshit from purple-haired professionally offended one. As an socially inept introvert with heavy social anxiety myself I find voice chat in Leauge with strangers useful and easy bc I do not have to actually socialise. "Garen stop push, enemy jungler and mid are coming for your ass!" - is not some fking smalltalk. And if you can not interact with other players even at this level - just do not play team oriented games EVER.

    • @ogbobbyjohnson3502
      @ogbobbyjohnson3502 3 месяца назад

      @@oldevilgreendog your comment is absolutely wrong , there’s thousands of challenger players who don’t use discord comms at all. Learn to communicate without speaking , like I said I could chat too if my roommate or parent needed sleep and I can’t talk loudly . League has been out for more than 10 years and never needed voice chat . And still doesn’t or they would’ve added it in future plans .

Plus other games do have it and you can see they are also toxic but the world hasn’t ended yet. You can just mute others if you want to, it won’t change anything other than adding a easier way to communicate.

    Coming from Overwatch to league I found it so weird that there wasn't built in voice chat for a game where, compared to overwatch, is so much more heavily based around teamplay and macro than mechanics. (OW is too, but there you can get really far by being really good at clicking heads)
    However, after getting to know the league community, I kinda understand lol.
    In other games like OW, I was always an active VCer, trying to communicate with my team, and now in League (albeit I'm still new and low elo), I mute chat because I find it almost never has any useful information, and that it's just a distraction.

      You're optimistic, and I think that is a really great personnality to have. Unfortunately, we're still on the internet and ppl let themselves be the worst imaginable just because we can't punch them in the face. One small example : every girl I spoke to who played Overwatch had been harassed for being a girl in a videogame. Every. Single. One. Of. Them.
      And it wasn't like a rare occurence, it was the norm, what they had to expect from launching the game everyday on every match. It's sad, really, and I do believe the only way to make things better is for game companies to hire a bunch of ppl, real people, to review chat and reports and ban them all.

    It is legit infuriating hearing rioters like August say that the big reason they won't put voice chat in League is because "It isn't as important to have communication as it is in Valorant". Like I can think of ZERO genres of games that require as much comms as MOBAs. From DotA to HotS to League the simple act of going bot lane or jungling in general require more comms than the entirety of the tac shooter genre combined. I love Val, I love CS and I love Siege but the vast majority of comms people dish out in those games at even high elo are easily replaced at least in part by the dedicated ping systems they have. Meanwhile, League's far more sophisticated ping system barely replaces basic team communication in a meaningful way.
    Every single game of League I see at least a half dozen situations that could have gone 10000% differently if the team was just able to communicate to each other in real time with specificity instead of having to play a game of telephone with a ping system that is so stressful to use in the moment and has to typically be used reactively instead of proactively.

    I agree with you on a lot of things but voice chat would absolutely ruin the game, it is called "solo q" for a reason. Not to mention the "increased team play" thing is a farce that wont actually happen. It will 100% just turn into a battle of egos over whos play is better. You could say it would be way easier to communicate things such as ganks or roams, but then is anyone learning anything? Imagine the amount of people who already just auto listen to their team on whatever play they want to make, it would only get worse hearing your team mates beg for ganks or to play around them, then you'll really feel pressured to do it just to please them. I think people have this grandiose idea of making solo q more like pro play with comms but it just isn't the same. Pro play is a different beast and it makes sense why they need it. For solo q it makes no sense and the game would be objectively worse in my opinion if they ever added it, I hope they never do at least in solo/duo

      Also just to add you and spear know each other and are in high elo so you match with and against each other often to build a bond. That would not happen in lower elos where you get 4 new teamates, 4 new personalites etc. Every game Clashing and trying to figure out how to communicate with each other. I think if people really want to communicate with your teamates just play for a team there are plenty of league casual and competitive out there

      as well as this, it's super hard to add voice chat to a game that didnt have voice chat for 14 years, valorant was introduced with it from the start and the communication is built with it in mind. League already has fantastic pings and you can still pull off a lot of great teamplays with just that. If you're not in a voicechat you'd just inherently be at a disatvantage as well which sucks (if you don't speak english you are extremely unlikely to be able to participate in a voicechat either which sucks). there are more reasons but yeah, it's really a horrible idea

      @orkazzz9959
      First of all, no. The ping system in League is abismal. No one uses 90% of the available pings. And even if you use all the pings correctly, ,ou can barely use them a few times before it goes on CD, so that you dont spam. And that limits a lot of what you could do. And we arent even talking about the players towards whom the pings are directed to. The fact no one uses 90% of pings, means that players dont know what they mean, when they get pinged with them. Even if I ping my jungler to push out my lane after I die, he wont know what the ping means. And even if they knew what it means, a lot of people simply ignore pings. A lot of people play with music, so they dont hear the pings. Or even if the, hear them, they ignore them. A lot of "missing" and "danger" pings are ignored because they arent right on the person you want to warn. You mentioned teamplay and how you can still pull of a lot with the pings. No. You cant. Regardless how many times you ping the enemy carries, so your teammates focus on them, they wont. Even if you write in chat, they will ignore the carries most of the time. I actually cannot think of a game, where pinging the enemy carry and telling my teammates multiple times to focus them, had any meaningful outcome.
      Your other point about League not being designed with voice chat is also bad. No game is designed around having or not having voice-chat. Games are designed and then a decision is made to implement voice-chat or not. League would be the same game with voice-chat. It doesnt change anything about the game mechanics. It simply improves communication. Valorant would be the same game without voice-chat. The difference between having voice-chat and not having voice-chat in a game is a difference of information, which you can exchange with your teammates. The amount of things you can tell your team in voice is infinitely more than you can do with pings.

      @saint_lol
      Not to insult you, but you speak like someone, who has never played competitive teamsports. Most, if not all the things you described as being potential problems, barely matter.
      Getting to know the people you play with and building bonds with them barely matters in competetive settings. I have played futsal with the same people for a few years now. I know them pretty well. They know me pretty well. We are friends outside of the games. In games however, especially when loosing, we will still scream at each other/blame the other etc. Knowing the other person doesnt matter. And this isnt the case only for physical activity. In league, the same is true. I have a good friend. He will still scream at me when I make a shiit play, just the same as he did, when we started playing.
      What matters is the personality. And here I have to agree with you. Ego would be a problem. There would have to be restrictions so that people dont call each other slurs and everything, but there would be much more screaming in voice chat, than on a football pitch simply because people wouldnt moderate themselves. On a pitch with people watching you, a referee and your coach, you will hold yourself back (except a few idiots, who cannot hold themselves back).
      So ego and because of that shouting matches will be a problem with voice-chat. But it will still be much less of an issue than you think. Most people dont have Tyler 1 levels of ego. Chat doesnt translate to voice. People, who type furiously wont always be psychos, who just want to shout at you for their mistakes.
      And even if there are a few bad apples and vpice chat devolves into a shouting contest between 2 players, you could still mute. If ,ou can coordinate yourselves, a 4v5 with voice chat is much easier than a 4v5 without voice-chat.
      Another thing is. If you have voice-chat in the game for a few months, people will start to understand how broken it is. They will start to understand, that it helps tremendously and will be less likely to shout at each other. This is honestly the same point as with ff. If we push back ff to 20 min, at first people will just run it down, but after some time they will learn to cope with it, accept it and adapt.
      You also mentioned people, who just go along with what others say. Again, not to insult you, but that sounds like you are basing that off of your own playing style. I understand what you are trying to say, because I myself tend to follow people as well. I often find myself going into 2v2 situations with my jungler even when I think its a losing play. However, this is only a problem if I am on auto pilot. If I am not thinking about the game, I follow others. If I however actively think about the game and try to win, I often ping them to back off or dont engage, etc. This dynamic exists regardless of voice-chat and its extent doesnt get amplified by it. And even if it were, you have to consider. The person, who is "following" the others is smart or dumb. Same is true for the "leading" people. Smart or dumb. Lets say the leading person is dumb and thinks its a winning play, even if it isnt. If the "follower" is smart, he should know its loosing and should warn the "leader" and not absentmindedly follow. If the "follower" is dumb, they wont see its a loosing play and it doesnt matter whether they go in unconciously or conciously. If the "leader" is smart, they should know its a good play and explain it. If the "follower" is also smart, they will realize its a good play and follow. If the follower is dumb, they will think its a bad play. In this case, the dumb person should be convinced and follow the "leader".
      Honestly this is not a problem, but a simple dynamic between people and their personalities. You should always consider your options before doing smth in the game. And you shouldnt be on auto pilot. If you do this, then being a "follower" is no different from being the "leader".
      I hope this is my last point. The "It's soloQ for a reason" argument does not work. SoloQ is literally a competetive team sport. Faker being number 1 in the korean server is the exact same thing as Erling Haaland being the best player in the premier league. You are playing so that YOU become the best, but you do it WITH THE HELP of your team. (Alright, technically flex is the perfect comparison, but its still very very similar.) Imagine a world, where football is structured the same way as soloQ currently. No coaches, no staff, basicly no training and when you get on the pitch with 10 people, you have never met before, you are not allowed to communicate with each other with the exception of pointing. And each game you get new teammates. It would be impossible to play football that way. Same is true for soloQ. The only possible way you could even wish of achieving anything is that sort of setting, is if you are miles above the competition. You would have to be a beast on the pitch and score constantly, while also defending. Honestly, in that sort of setting, I am not even sure if Haaland could achieve anything. He is great at scoring, but in current games, uts his team defending, not him.
      When you have no coaching, no helping staff, no training and random teammates, the only way, that a team could play together in any way shape or form, is to allow them to communicate with each other. It would still be an absolute fuccking mess, but it would at least allow people to achieve more.
      Another thing to the "it's SoloQ" part. The way SoloQ is structured means, that people with good mechanics are much more likely to succeed than people with good macro. Because people who have good mechanics can just beat and roll over the opponent. Peolle with good macro go even more often, but know how to move around the map. What to do with a lead. But if their team doesnt know, what would be best out of a macro perspective, then its for naught, since they wont move where they need to be. A macro genius, who has shiit mechanics cannot manage his team well enough to get to the same level as a mechanicsl genius with atrocious macro knowledge.
      This can simply be shown if you consider this: Two teams of 5. There are 6 average players. 3 on each team. There is one mechanical god on both sides and a macro god on both sides. Lets see what happens with the current system. The machanical gods get a huge lead for themselves against an average player. The macro gods get even, and the other 2 players are also even. So who wins? Well, its the team, where the bigger advantage is. The team with the better mechanical god. Why? Because the macro gods cant do shiit. Even if they type or ping, the others dont know what the macro gods want them to do. So both teams are even in macro, so the only source of an advantage can come from the mechanical gods. So the better mechanical player wins.
      Now if we consider voice-chat to be done, the following happens: The mechanical gods get a huge lead. Macro gods and others are even. Midgame, lategame comes. What decides the game? Well, its the better duo so to say. It could be where the better macro god is, if he is good enough to outmanouver the enemy, or it might be where the better mechanical god is, because he can outplay the enemy in a teamfight. In this scenario both types of people have influence and both can climb to the same level if they are similar in overall skill.
      Now of course, this was an exagerated example, but the point stands.
      If you actually think about it, this conversation is meaningless. Why? Because there is and has never been voice-chat in League. We dont know how people would react. We dont know short-term effects and long-term effects of such change. It's all speculation.
      In my opinion it would be worth a try, to implement voice-chat for just 1 year and see what happens. If it ruins the game, remove it. However, we dont know what will happen. And if there is even the slightest chance, that it will improve the game, then we should try it. The point is to have a more enjoyable experience, even if it involves risks.

    Voice chat will just lead to hearing impairment with immature mentally deficit people shouting in their microphones.
    Ranked Solo Queue is NOT the correct way to play League of Legends. That is a path of hopelessness, frustration and despair.
    LOL is a team game by design. Find friends to play with. Form a team. Compete in Ranked 5v5. Help each other improve together as a team.
