Him and Bender ARE this show. Other characters get good jokes, and there ARE other good characters, but the two main guys are them with some Zoidberg sprinkled around. Leela CAN be funny, but it's rare, Fry's just kind of his own middling character, Hermes is in about the same boat as Leela, maybe SOMEWHAT more often though-- then it's mainly down to sides/background/recurring which tend to get the best one offs.
The three skeleton's with the crushed pelvis( at 1:41) is probably the funniest sight gag in history. It flashes by on the screen so fast most probably miss the absolute perfection. The one with the cigarette just blows me away no matter how many times I see it
I pray these jokes aren't censored so hard in the new season. This was so ahead if it's time, and so much censorship is in place it's hard for shows like these to fully shine again.
