I’ve been making mine with felt, and absolutely love these little guys. I have a regular Plague Doctor as well as a Santa one and a Easter Bunny one now.
No, not really. The only thing is you can’t make those hole outlines at the beginning. So it’s a bit more of fitting and working out how things line up.
I’m working on it now. The pattern seems easy and very cute. Can I suggest in the future to not use black thread and black leather? It’s hard to see what you’re doing. For example, when you sew the two sides of the body together I can’t tell which hole you’re starting on, or whether you are leaving some holes for the next part. A little contrast would help a lot.
Your little plague doctor doll is so cute! I like your two needle method of sewing the leather pieces together, and your genius way of tying knots! Very smart! I would probably use felt, and a doll peg base, as I am not lucky enough to have any black leather. These little guys are popping up everywhere, and it's ironic because we are in a Pandemic right now! 17th century PPE looks scarier than our modern PPE!! ~Janet in Canada
Thanks! The sewing method I used is actually a very common stitch used in leather work called a saddle stitch. Are you seeing this doll everywhere or plague doctors in general? If you are seeing this doll I would love to know where.
Great work. I like it. You are so creative and talented :) Btw., That way You could make a penguin doll :) it's could be awesome.... just an idea.... :)
I have seen this exact doll everywhere. Is it from a game or a movie or a show or something else??? SOMEBODY PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME I WANT TO KNOW SO BADLY!!!!! 😆

Did you have to make any changes when working with felt?
No, not really.

I might expand into normal animals in the future
Looks great:)
Gyönyörű, mint a készítője.
Nice. I might try this
I like that if you speed up the vid the bg music sounds relatively normal
Should I be poking one hole for every stitch marked on the pattern, or one at each end of every stitch?
Omg so cute
