I’m less annoyed this video exists and more annoyed that I know this is going to be on the regents and I’ll have t9 use “proofs” to show how something is. Didn’t know parents pay school taxes to pay for bullshit like this that teaches us nothing, NOTHING! For a week I’ve been doing just “proofs” in such way and I just want to learn something new, abstract, different. This lesson in geometry is the most useless lesson in the existence of math and words cannot describe how mad I am for the fact I have a double math period and all we do is notes based on writing proofs, FOR A WEEK! there is no use in this work “proof” when this is countering what proof actually is; proving how something be. Last I checked, all my understanding on math came from me reasoning with the proof and school doesn’t do that. If school was to teach math correctly, the proof lesson would be changed and altered to spending time understanding how 1+1=2, things like that. Looks simple but truly understanding math comes from understanding how you get something from other things. CONNECT THE DOTS RATHER THAN REMEMBER THEM. I don’t blame you for making this video, just extremely frustrated that I have to deal with this nothing and lose time to really learn.
I studied geometry back in the USSR. It was such an interesting subject! When I read the American textbooks, it is absolutely clear that the program is a mess: problems are too obvious, the prooves are too tedious and abundant. The program of high school is not a successful one and should be revised. JoAnn did a lot of hard work, but it does not help if the program is... such a program...
Proofs are useful beyond your high school geometry class. It is logic training which can be used in almost every scholastic subject there is. Any argument or persuasive essay you write, will need to prove and/or disprove something. This line of thinking is crucial for the SAT as well as the GRE, if you were to take that later on. Also, If you go into college level math, you will see that all foundational knowledge learned in high school, will be built upon in someway or fashion. You are looking at this in a very immature way that doesn’t take the broader picture into account.
The board is so organized!
Your video is in a homeschool program that gives Neberska diplomas! (Theorem)
This really help me, help my little sister lol. Thank you so much.
