We only really heard that argument twice and both times were after the Patriots won: Superbowl 51 and the latest AFC Championship game. I understand the excitement that someone like Mahomes bring to the game and enjoy watching him play. It would have been nice to see what he could have done in OT but rules are the rules and we've seen in the NFC Championship game that they work. The defense did its job and gave the ball back to the Rams' offense.
Habiba personally I think they should of changed since I move been a fan of the nfl. Brady has won 6/9 play off overtime games and won the toss in every single one, he always has the chance. And just because 1 game doesn’t get affected by it does not mean they are fair or work. This rule and the penalties calls are something that has to change this off season
@@tomgow5305 I hear you and there is probably a way to make things seem fairer if the league determines that the current rules are unfair. However, the numbers show that teams that win the toss win at a 50% rate or so. Also, there aren't that many playoff games that end up in OT, aren't they? Anyway, my initial point was that this particular criticism of the rule only seems to arise when the Patriots win, especially of the opposing QB plays an exciting brand of football.
The reason it doesn't seem fair is because everyone knows the Chiefs team was built around the offense. Defense was a second thought. We all knew this going into the season, we spent all our money on Offense, did nothing to fix the defense. And that should be a viable option, if that's the way the GM wants to build the team. The OT rules are imperfect but fine as constituted. First of all, teams that won the coin toss end up winning the game only 52% of the time. That is as close to even as you will get.
I'm going to take Travis' side here. The "romance" of sudden death -- that the game can end on any given play -- is overblown. I still like what FIFA does in the World Cup. Play the overtime period to completion. If the first team uses seven minutes to drive to a TD, then at least the other team gets eight minutes to take its shot, and even if the second team has a three-and-out, as long as there's time on the clock, it has a chance to get the ball back.
I saw an article that said each team gets 10 plays alternating back and forth. First team starts at the 50 if they gain 10 then the other team gets the ball at the 40 you keep flipping back and forth at the end of the 10th play if the winning team is whichever team the moved the ball further. Personally, I think the OT rules are fine, but if they were to be changed, I would advocate for: 1. The time period to be extended back to 15 minutes, as ties suck. Also, if one team has a run-heavy drive culminating in a field-goal, the other team is essentially penalized for no reason by a short-clock (which seems counterproductive to me, since the format was literally just changed to avoid game-winning, first-drive field goals). Believe this was shown to an extent in the 2nd cowboys-eagles game. 2. Both teams are assured a possession, but if the first team scores a touchdown, the second HAS to go for two if they score one as well. Thus, any touchdown essentially caps the OT period at 2 possessions, since if the first team kicks a field goal or doesn't score, then the current, normal rules apply and the second team wins with a td regardless.
Both teams got a chance in overtime, if your defense did not suck your offense would also had a chance to clinch the game. Complimentary football Offense Defense and Special Teams.

It does trick the defense in some situations. Pat Mahomes is good tho and so is Andy Reed. Travis Kelce is great. That whole team is good. haha
Oh wow really? Man I'm sure no one else thought of that. They're calling it no look because he's looking somewhere else to throw defenders off. Everyone knows he can see where it's going, he's not just guessing.
It does makes sense you have 60 minutes to get it done. It's a team game let you defense stop them all they have to do is hold them to a field goal and you get a shot. The team that wins the toss wins the game 52% of the time so absolutely no reason to change the rule.
What are those.
Kelsey I'm sorry your first name is Travis you guys play good man you'll pick up again kicking a butt hurts but you just got to go to the next game and do your best
So if you change the overtime rules to where both teams get the ball where do you draw the line on when the game should end? What happens when both teams score a touchdown in the 1st overtime and we head to a second overtime, a third overtime, a fourth overtime....the rules are the rules, I for one am getting tired of the rules or some of the rules being changed every single year.
All I'm saying about Mahomes is remember RGIII.
RG3 did not throw for 50 TDs and win MVP lol
adi racquetball How about remember Peyton Manning considering that’s the only other player to ever do this.
@@TheAlexheald he also didn't have Kelce, Hill, Hunt and Watkins to throw to. I'm just saying that there is now a season long book of film for defensive coordinators to evaluate. Look 5 years ago Ron Jaworski was saying Kaepernick and RG3 were going to change the QB position forever. How did that work out? We have all seen one year wonders in every sport. You have to do it more than one year regardless how impressive that year was. Greatness is doing it for years.
@@adiracquetball my thoughts exactly. so quick to find a new savior.
@@adiracquetball this comment didn't age well
comparing Kelce to Gronk is so disrespectful. Gronk is one of the greatest TEs ever and people pretend like Kelce is in his league.
Lol Kelce has 3 straight seasons of 1K yards. 1st team all pro, is playing with Mahomes at QB, and barring injury he'll make the HOF.
Pats lost the AFC Championship game with 54 seconds remaining on the interception. They TOTALLY lucked out on the rare over the line call.
Your incorrect..... Luck had nothing to do with it.... Your comment should have said stupidity instead of luck....it was stupid to line up almost 2 yards off sides.... Like nobody was gonna see the guy at the end of patriots offensive line, in a different uniform n facing the wrong direction....
@@thisguy2893 I mean it is stupid he was offsides, but it was also lucky that, that was the play he was offside on. If there was no flag Chiefs would have won. And having 4 fingers over isn't exactly 2 yards but that's ok.
If you are going to look at it that way , it never would have been overtime if they called the offense interference on their last touchdown drive . Two guys 5 yards down field blocking. It was such a bad call Belichick smashed an iPod after show how terrible his call was to the ref. O by the way the Pats still won and The GOAT has 6 .
No. Brady saw it and knew he had a free play.
@@Kado_Tornado when you know you have a free play usually you try more than an overthrown check down though.
Dee Ford learns how to line up and OT is not an issue. The Chiefs lost because of Ford and nothing else. End of story.
Football is a team sport. The defensive units count, too. Make a stop. Force a turnover, as the Rams did against the Saints. If the rules are so unfair, so biased towards the winner of the coin toss, please explain why the winner of the coin toss wins the game only 52% of the time. Stop discounting the importance of defense. Rewatch Super Bowl 53. And Superbowl 50.
what if both team scores in the overtime......then you're back to square one
Play till the other doesnt answer the score
if both team keeps scoring the game will go on and on.....the nfl doesn't want that.....also the loser is still going to find away to complain....maybe they'll complain about the game going on too long and they were exhausted....the loser or losing team always finds a way to complain
they don't need overtime for that.....they should be able to do that within the 4 quarters (60 minutes)...nfl doesn't want games going on continuously....they wan't them done within a certain time.....other tv shows have to be aired as well...remember they use to cut off games during the middle of the broadcast if the game wasn't over to air other shows.....luckily they don't do that anymore
@@donovans6472 its, not fair because either teams weren't able to come with the win so they had to go to overtime, and its not fair that the patriots get a extra possession because they won a flipping coin toss, rules favor offenses giving the defenses a disadvantage scince the new rule in the playoffs 84% of teams that got the ball first won, because unlike the regular season teams have good offenses, which should be able to drive down the field to get a touchdown when needed.
shoe game wack
Only Kelce can pull off the AIR "No, You cant cheat off me" 4s
Freebreezhoe 113 I think that was the point of rocking the Air Monarchs
he owns better shoes then you have ever owned in your life
He pulls them off. You gotta have a good sense of style to have a outfit to go with them. Most white guys dont but kelce has style

GUNSLINGER
Alex Smith > Dirt Cousins
How about a field goal shootout instead of risking the injury of players during OT, I’d rather have that than have a coin flip offense vs defense OT.
Tell that to the L A Rams
All dressed up for a trade to the Eagles.
Oh hell nnooooo!!!!😂

patty cakes!!
S'Gucci
Did he borrow his Dads Shoes?
I’ve been watching the Chiefs for 35 years. They were gonna find a way to lose regardless
You lose every day!!!
soybean70 so what are you saying about this year??
Don't CRY you lose lose NFL rules don't CRY
Buthoeun Young he ain’t crying right now :)
Ok. I’m tired of this crap. I’m a KC fan. But Brady is the best quarterback to play the game. I thought it was Montana til this year. I’m a believer. And really. Tell me something bad about Brady. He’s a good dad. He don’t beat his wife. He is always gracious. Maybe Mahomes passes him. Time will tell. I hope Mahomes doesn’t get hurt but history tells us quarterbacks like Mahomes don’t last long.
scott love Mahomes just won himself the a Super Bowl 🤐 guess you were wrong
Mahomes as great as he is will Not last long in the NFL his style of running and throwing
sidearm Etc. will lead to injuries I hope not but we will see.......My bet is 2 to 3 years before
he is sidelined for a backup.....................
hope not, hate to see careers get derailed
stay off the weeeeeed
You’re a clown
This comment hadn’t aged well !
Soooo................next year go up two T.D so you dont put it in Brady's hands. Love K.C but dang it. That DEFENSE had no answer for Brady.
Look Man, The Patriots are great team. But as a fan of the NFL, I am sick of seeing the patriots playing in the super bowl. It's boring now that every year its the same outcome. The Chiefs played the Pats twice this year. Both times the Pats just barely won those games. so If Brady is the G.O.A.T , then what is Mahomes ? I ask this because your G.O.A.T was almost beat in both of those games. If I were Pats fans I would be happy with the 6 championships because I bet you next year will be much different.
Mahomes is not going to be the same next season.. remember when Derek Carr was the best thing since sliced bread?... film will bring him down
Jim Whitney sounds like a hater with a surface level of football knowledge to me
Mahomes is a different animal
You are comparing the arm of Carr to Mahomes? Sorry buddy but you're wrong
Someone slap this man for comparing DC to MVPat
Good luck with that
Kelce seems like he oughta have a rat tail...or a gentleman's mullet, to fit his personality. A little Bosworth-y. lol
I didn't want to see some new qb, I wanted to see the chiefs get crushed by a guy twice their age lol.
Mahomes had his chance the whole game... These rules have been in place for years, y'all only crying about it cause Brady spanked you
“He’s the face of the 21est century” hahahahahahahahahahaha, I think Tom Brady will be remembered more than Patrick mahomes, wouldn’t you say?
Thomas Kelly I'm not a fan or non-fan of either, but I think Patrick Mahomes makes Tom Brady look like he's playing boomer football. Mahomes makes football look new.
Brady is trash when his offensive of line doesn’t protect him
Thomas Kelly Personally I think Brady will be remembered as the pinnacle of Boomer Football. Not so much the Next Gen Football that the young stars today are playing, and that's changing the game.
We SAW Mahomes! He GOT his chance - 60 minutes of it! How about you score points in the first 30 minutes of the game? This whole conversation is ridiculous.
Ok so all the times Tom Brady won the game on the last drive, why didn't he just put it out if reach earlier in the game?? Derr
Rum Chata
Kelce was crying on Dan Patrick saying the pats held him all game. Soft TE he couldn’t handle being covered & jammed at the line like Gronk every week
snellsman Grimm been missing all year. Not to mention he gets to have a robot arm over his arm just to play lol
Gronk is the soft one. Dude has had how many surgeries?
kelce has the worst outfits ever.
Cam newton
Wtf is up with his shoes
So because he has money, he HAS to frivolously spend it to appease the mind of broke NFL fans?
Kelce is so much better then tony g, can’t wait for Kelce to break all his records so we can wipe him from history.
MrFetus35 you’re drunk
Fans like you deserve the L your team got
Anthony Robinson I don’t drink, that’s for losers, it’s the only drug you can die from just detoxing...
patsfan365 lucky you won the coin flip... see you opening day, we remember last time... I will be there since I live here, just like last time.
Anthony Robinson on top of that he is on record to break them all.
Andy Reid must go! Reid must go! Reid the poser must go!
I'm trying to hit the dislike button as many times as I can but youtube will only let me give you one. lame
They had a great season why should he be fired the difference is he went up against the goat
You're stupid.... Reid saved the chiefs franchise, before him we had Todd Haley and Romeo... As a chiefs fans I hope Reid retires a Chief
@@doodles8706 you stupid if all you remember is Haley and Crennel. You a pup!
