I really don't get why everyone is ga-ga over 'Young Frankenstein'.... It got a few chuckles out of me, but it wasn't THAT funny, especially compared to his others. 🤷🏼♂️
How beautiful it is to witness friendships like this. Someone who celebrates their friend’s work without insecurity or hidden envy is rare among partners/colleagues, probably more rare in hyper-competitive industries like this one. I’m so grateful my lifetime allows me to experience the beauty those two put out into the world. What a time to be alive, indeed!
Gene Wilder’s greatest talent was his innately authentic ability to make everyone feel good about life; comedy with an added substrate of meaning. There were more revelations and laughter in his impeccable timing and masterful pauses, than in a box full of jokes.
I want to Thank Mel Brooks for the laughter he and Gene Wilder and Cleavon Little have given us over the years There are so many examples from so many movies like Blazing Saddles Young Frankenstein and so many others that we all remember that make us laugh every time all the time My dad always said it is a wonderful thing to be able to laugh Cleavon and Gene and Madlyn Khan are gone but will always be remembered with gratitude and smiles and laughter Mel in History of the World Part 1 where Mel played so many parts and was great and funny in all of them Thanks you guys thank you so very much You all will live in our hearts forever
As italian I am impressed that Mel Brooks knows Alberto Sordi, he was one of my favorite actors and true comedic genius but I didn't know anyone outside Italy could recognize his talent.
Fellini is known worldwide but yes, I was impressed as well when he mentioned Alberto Sordi which, as a Roman, to me it fills me up of a great pride but, on the other hand, we are talking about Mel Brooks...a true genius.
Mel gave Gene the direction to be one of the best comic actors there ever was, and Gene produced for Mel’s characters a sensitivity that brought his movies heart and soul. They were an amazing team. What a shame they never ended up making more movies together like “Young Frankenstein.”
As great a comedy Blazing Saddles was the funniest line in the movie wasn't by Gene or Mel or Cleavon. I think it was what Taggart (Slim Pickens) said at the tollbooth......."Go back and get a shit load of dimes"
To me Blazing Saddles was 2 movies. A great one till they revealed they were in a Hollywood back lot. Once they leave the Western town and reveal the sound stage area, etc. it becomes an average movie. Never understood that decision by Brooks. It ruined the continuity for me and the magic.
@@samsmith4216 I saw this in the theater & had the same confused reaction at the end. Okaaaay... It was a little bit of a let-down, agree. Yeah! Wilder could express anger in a moment.. but, he had the comic genius to reel it back in.. to maintain his sanity.. that made the scene comical.
Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder. Comedic geniuses the world didn't deserve but needed.
