  • Rob first started his salt water journey around 1997 with a FOWLR that had an anemone using VHOs and Power Compacts. Around 1999 this 40 breeder transitioned into an actual reef tank with a homemade sump, a DIY acrylic HOB refugium, and dosing was kalkwasser and trying out various trace additives. After taking a break from the hobby around 2005, Rob found himself drawn back in and setup a 180 gallon setup in 2021. One year back into the hobby, Rob changed his reefing philosophy completely and departed from the marketing hype. He has since embraced a more fundamentalist and DIY/independent approach to reefing. Rob also enjoys learning how to apply new methods to keeping his aquarium, and aquaculturing food for the inhabitants.
