  • Ridge Vents can be complicated. I do my best to explain what ridge vents to put on your home and why…as fast as possible.
Features product in the video is Owens Corning Ventsure 4’ baffles ridge vent with weather barrier/insect and snow deterrent.
Note: every shingle manufacturer makes a baffles ridge vent just ask your roofer.

Finally a professional explanation of how a proper ridge vent is supposed to work. I can personally attest to how important the external baffle is to the ridge vent. Had my ridge vent replaced, only 7 year old roof with the one you are talking about. Old attic temp would get to 30+ degrees over ambient temperature and would take all evening to drop. That exact ridge vent you are talking about is now on my roof and temperatures rarely get up to 20 degrees over ambient and start coming down when the sun sets. Saved me from getting a problematic attic fan.

Perfect video. Got my answer at the end of the clip. I hate how my current vent only runs 75% of the ridge, change in elevation looks weird. Will running to the end that’s the peak of hip have issues? Will my roofer know how to shingle that to not look bad?

With this ridge vent, if the shingles come off due to high winds will it leak if it rains. Shingles blown off during Helena. 😮
