I once was playing with my friend on a sloop (we were pretty new to the game then) and we were chased by a brig. They were very good, hitting every chainshot and almost sinking us multiple times, our only escape having been going against the wind. When we reached the red sea we had to turn around, which brought them very close to us. When one of them held a keg, ready to board us, I shot the keg with a cannon and all of them died. After I came back from repairing my ship, I saw nothing but free loot and a reaper 5 flag. Good moment.
If I hadn’t found your channel on my recommended page I would be questioning every person boarding my ship with a keg and wondering what they were doing and finding out the hard way.

So, the server merged.... Seems like the servers would shutdown and then be merged. I am guessing that is automatic.... Don't play the game, but I do find it entertaining to watch others play it. I am not good with pvp.
I have used a stronghold keg on a galleon before. I was solo and I remember that they were really good at PvP so I tried to play it as smart as I could so I used the Mega Keg from the fort I had just completed. They didn't stand a chance even though they were better at PvP. Great video.
I have good story, me and my friend were on a fort with no cannonballs left, we got sunk by a sloop but both of us survived and had stronghold kegs in hands, we thought that one keg would be enough to sink them, so we gone to their ship from different places, my friend blew the sloop up with the two guys, after about 30 seconds i arrived and blew their ship again, killing both of them again, and they didnt sink, after we respawned we got back and followed them, they were super bad, couldnt hit either of us from a gun, and and hit our ship around 30% of the shots, we followed them from the fort, with my friend killing both of them, anchorint them, and we shot about 30 cannonballs, not only did they not sink, they also raised the anchor and fled, while being under constant cannonball barrage, they went out of the map, to the red sea, we followed them, they were still infront of us when we sank, needless to say, after we respawned and on our wqy to the fort, in nearby outpost was still their ship with a grade 5 gold hoarder flag
i had an instance where me and a reaper ship traded stronghold kegs (by trade i mean kill each other) we at the same time snuck on each others ships and blew up the ships i didn't have any loot on me because i was part of an alliance and decided to carry the explosives on my ship while the allies would carry the loot on theirs

I'm sure someone else told you by now, but in case you're still curious-- Looks like they probably had a server merge right as they cleared the world event, which automatically opened the FoF vault at kracken's watchtower, while still leaving the key in play. Then they may have dropped the key in the leadup to the pirate legend hideout on galleon's grave, or perhaps dropped it off the mast of the top ship, into a place where it could not be seen or retrieved... who knows!? Anyways, good storytelling, my dude! :3 I found myself interested the whole way through because of your presentation, even though I got bored when this same exact situation happened to me one day. XD Your name is well-picked. Edit: Subscribed :)

This reminds me of the time that I soloed a Fort of Fortune. The server merged, so I was left with the key and an open vault. I ended up looting the FoF and took the key with me. After looking up what I was supposed to do with it, I found out I could be tracked with it. I ended up leaving it at Dagger Tooth and high tailed it to Galleon's Grave to turn in all my loot.
Aye, never underestimate a solo Slooper. My favorite moment in SoT was soloing a Skull Fort, about 70% of the way through soloing it. A 4 man Galleon showed up. I had to retreat to my sloop, and decided to park it behind 2 giant pillars far away from the Island and cannon myself over to the island (Including a solid 3-5 min swim distance afterwards. So my sloop was well away from the island and view) By the time I'd finished that, the guys were just clearing up the fort, and were killing the last wave. I sniped the guy who killed the last boss. Took the key and bolted away, hiding the key in a bush while I was out of view then kept bolting while holding a compass in my hand making It look like I still had the key. After outrunning them, I grabbed a Keg and swam it underneath their boat. Then camped out on the stair on the side of the galleon facing away from the island. Once I heard them board their ship, I quickly went downstairs and disposed of them. And proceeded to do so until the ship sank. By this time the second Galleon had arrived at the Island. So I quickly hid myself on the top of the tower on the island and waited to see what they' do. I then noticed they were looking all over for the key, since It had to be around as they could only see the first galleon. And that It had sunk mysteriously. My sloop parked behind 2 pillars of stone so far away they were barely within view distance. So they had no clue there was a sloop player around. I managed to sneakily get back to the bush on the island and grab my Key. And swam it into the bottom of the Ocean, Took a screenshot of where I was, then proceeded to place it on the bottom of the Ocean in that random place. No landmarks, just the knowledge you had to sail into NW for about 20 seconds then dive down. No one would ever find it. I then ended up in a really fun 1v4 running around the island having fun with those guys, before sinking their ship once they had all been killed. At this point another sloop was showing up, and before long.... The first galleon. I had some fun 1v2's against the sloop then 1v2v4 once the galleon showed up. None of them knowing where my ship was, so It was always fun returning by shooting myself over the pillars then swimming all the way there. I eventually managed to get rid of all of them. But I knew It wasn't going to be easy to get the loot, since they were sure to return. I eventually went back to my boat, and went on to do some other things in the area while keeping an eye on the boats. They eventually left. So I returned, found my Key. And began loading my sloop... A lengthy proccess when done alone by a greedy pirate who won't leave a sliver of loot behind.... Especially as this was during the first 1-2 weeks of the game... Before any Harpoons existed to loot within minutes. Sure enough, I ended up getting engaged by both a galleon and a sloop, who returned and saw my sloop parked at the fort for good 15+ minutes. But, having access to all the remaining kegs on the island to myself, I was able to make yet another pro gamer move, sailing my sloop straight ahead with the wind in my back I dropped off with a Keg in hand and a Galleon infront of me. Dropped the keg, went onto the ladder, ship hits the keg. And once I hear repairing noises I once again make my move and go on to Anchor them. Then kill them all repeatedly until I finally died myself. I then got back onto my sloop as I respawned just in time to save it. As the other sloop had caught up to me, having stayed a bit back due to the galleon. I then had the most exciting chase I've ever had in SoT as I sailed away from this sloop, who had an exceptionally skilled helmsman I must say. The chase lasted close to an hour with me boarding him multiple times, and him boarding a few times. Amazing PvP, but... Alas. It all ended as I finally got him in my boarding, steered him into a reef then anchored him after he hit it. All the previous boarding stealing planks in each trip left him no choice but to give up the chase. Maybe he had planks on him, maybe not. But I mermaid'ed away and got my loot sold at last.
I love playing solo 🔥🔥 i started as a solo and I've always continued that way. Its fun having a crew member with me, but its a different experience solo and much more rewarding
I recently finished a fort of fortune only to get server merged before looting. This resulted in the vault being opened with all the loot inside without us actually using the key
Yep, I’ve made my mind up. This channel is too good. Okay, it’s not too good it’s really good, like very good. Love your channel keep up the good work.
So… I think I entered this server after you guys. I spawned on a server a few months ago with a key at Galleons Grave. We found it in the PL hideout entrance. Sailed to literally every fort on the map… all of the vaults were opened. It’s the craziest, most unexplained thing I’ve ever experienced in this game…
I know this video is old and someone might've said it before me, but for someone interested I'll share my piece of knowledge. When two servers merge while just completing the Fort of Fortune, it resolves into the vault being unlocked once the servers merge and the key still in place where it was. That's what happened to me once, so I suppose it's the way it happened here unless there's another way (or they simply did the Fort of Fortune and never unlocked it, keeping the key for hours - I know this doesn't make any sense, but it's not impossible) AND one last way, to my knowledge it was POSSIBLE to store Stronghold/Fort of Fortune and Fort of the Damned keys inside the Sunken Merfolk Statues found in the Merfolk shrines and treasuries (But I know for a fact that is patched out now). In terms of hiding the key me and my friend had to come up with a hiding spot for our key since an alliance of a Galleon and a Brig were storming our way. We were on the Sailor's Knot outpost. To those who have no idea what this fort is famous for (in this case infamous) is the whole layout of the fort is so bad, it takes twice as long to even take the loot from the vault to your ship then from other forts. Galleon and Brig getting closer any second, my friend told me to pick up some of the kegs on our ship and the key with it and we'll head towards Plunder Outpost. I had no idea what he had in his mind, but we loaded 5 kegs on our ship alongside with the key to the Fort of Fortune and bolted towards Plunder Outpost. I jumped out with one keg towards the Galleon which was closer to us, had a succesfull board, setting off the keg and getting their anchor down. Right after my element of surprise has gone off, I was quickly dispatched and as I've respawned I immediately picked up another keg and went for the Brig. Sadly this one was unsuccessful, but the second try for the Brig board deemed successful and another anchor + keg blowing up took place. This bought us enough time, since my friend already docked in the Plunder Outpost and hid the key tellin' me "They won't find it even if they'll spend whole day here" And sailing away. I asked him where did he hide the key and he told me about two spots he was thinking about, one is in the entrance to the Athena's hideout, not many people will check there and they'll try and keep searching on land and the second spot is somewhere between rocks where it lands under the textures... this is much harder to performe if you don't know how things work if you drop them, with enough know-how and game knowledge you can prety much do that anywhere and he chose this one, since on Plunder Outpost, there's a place where 3 rocks meet and if you jump between those three rocks you'll get teleported to your ship via black screen, if you bind jump onto your mouse wheel and slide between the three rocks whilst scrolling your wheel, you'll instead jump once or twice before you'll get black screened and teleported. This little window gives you enough time to pick the key up and place it higher on the rocks making it possible to pick up without sliding between those 3 rocks. Similiar spot is on Hidden Spring Keep where you can place the key between a bush and a rock and it can only be picked up from a reeeeeally weird angle. If you would stand on the key or on the rock/bush you can't pick it up and it's fairly hidden (The rock and the bush hides the glint of it from a distance), but once they'd pin-point the location via a map it would be just a matter of time until they would figure out the spot from which you can pick it up. Well anyway, that's enough of mumbling and rambling, have a wonderful day! And see you on the sea! :)
My initial guess is they opened up the pirate legend hideout brought the key down there and left it there only Legends could find it and it looks like it's on the island when it's really under it
@@CliffTheStoryGuy yeah, admittedly it would feel much nicer to have earned it than bought it... Speaking of earning cosmetics though, the emissary rank cosmetics - do they reset each month and you unlock the ability to use them per month?
@@QuantumVLOG The rewards stay there until you unlock them, just gonna take you longer to complete if they add new stuff and you haven't been doing your ledgers
Sometimes, you get server merged after completing a world event. If that key was on a crews ship during the merge, they would have to wait for a new FoF to spawn
Explanation: Sometimes you can get server merged WITH a key. Said key can open another servers Fort of Fortune if it spawns. If you complete that Fort of Fortune with an already opened Vault, you're left with a key that has no door, well, up to a point where you get spawned into another server, or another FoF opens up that fits the key. Good luck surviving until then.
If you complete a FOF and sail away and the server merges its possible that the OF is gone and another FOD is active. You can open that FOF with the key without completing. So you can clear the vault even while the fort is running. if you finish it after that you get another key.
I know exactly where the key was put. It was on the east side crag. Based on the map positioning and the icon, it's the only place it could have been. There's no cave in or under that crag, and the icon was too far back to be in or behind the tavern. So the only place it could have been was on the crag, which is pretty simple to get to if you know how, even while carrying a treasure.

They were very good, hitting every chainshot and almost sinking us multiple times, our only escape having been going against the wind. I had to retreat to my sloop, and decided to park it behind 2 giant pillars far away from the Island and cannon myself over to the island (Including a solid 3-5 min swim distance afterwards. So my sloop was well away from the island and view)
By the time I'd finished that, the guys were just clearing up the fort, and were killing the last wave.
Your videos are just incredible, I wish watching these videos for all my life! Keep it up
amazing video.I did not expect to enjoy it so much.Perfect work
I love playing this game solo. It's kinda relaxing.
Love the vids, fire force theme in that last fight added tension
I started playing few weeks ago And saw your vids and they are so good keep up the work ;)
Cliff, love your content man I clicked on your video as soon as it was up. Literally the only SoT tuber I watch
I may not be an expert at Sea of Thieves but looks to me like the ones at the end just started their voyage
Hey cliff thanks for getting me back into SOT with your 100 days to PL
Welcome back! Hope you enjoy your time on the sea!
Another banger my dude - I can’t wait until you hit 100k
Dude I love the fire force fighting music in the background
Your videos make me excited for Tuesdays.
Incredible narration I felt like I was playing. I was on the edge of my seat towards the end💯 New Sub Btw👌🏻
I haven’t played SoT in ages but absolutely love your content. Keep up the hard work dude 👌
What did you say?
"I said go away"
My video quality: gone, reduced to atoms
You are definitely becoming my favorite sea of thieves RUclipsr
Easily the best SoT creator rn!
Yep, I’ve made my mind up. This channel is too good. Okay, it’s not too good it’s really good, like very good. Love your channel keep up the good work.
The key was probably in the entrance to the pirate legend place
So… I think I entered this server after you guys. I spawned on a server a few months ago with a key at Galleons Grave. We found it in the PL hideout entrance. Sailed to literally every fort on the map… all of the vaults were opened. It’s the craziest, most unexplained thing I’ve ever experienced in this game…
I was sailing with a fortress key few days ago I just found it on an island not sure what it was I didn’t know it marked u
This bought us enough time, since my friend already docked in the Plunder Outpost and hid the key tellin' me "They won't find it even if they'll spend whole day here"
And sailing away.
The way you cut back and forth to your character and the gameplay, it really feels like your character is narrating the story. Neat stuff
Someone's gotta tell the story 📖
Great videos my dude, keep em comming
i played with those two on a sloop yesterday, came to my rescue, good people
My initial guess is they opened up the pirate legend hideout brought the key down there and left it there only Legends could find it and it looks like it's on the island when it's really under it
I think it was probably wedged between some rocks or dropped below a mesh
You are honestly my favorite sea of thieves story teller. Hands down. I also love how you say Rowboat lol
Eyyyy its nice to see someone else using the full Lodestar setup. I love that set and basically use it all the time haha
I wish they gave us cool ship sets like that to unlock rather than buy :(
@@CliffTheStoryGuy yeah, admittedly it would feel much nicer to have earned it than bought it...
I’ve subscribed and watched every video yet. You really brought back my interest in this game!
i nearly bursted my lungs with laughter after the ''hello''
These videos have gotten me back to playing SOT, keep going with the awesome content!
Welcome back to the seas!
So glad to see you on the feed again
Glad to see you in the comments
that fire force background music makes this even better
Im so happy when you upload! I have quite litterly watched all your vids I'm always really happy on Tuesday! awesome vid!
Every time I feel I got this game figured out I learn something new
When you see a gunpowder keg on the thumbnail of a cliff video you know it’ll be good
The legend himself made a new video.👏👏
This channel is too good to be real
If you complete a FOF and sail away and the server merges its possible that the OF is gone and another FOD is active. You can open that FOF with the key without completing. So you can clear the vault even while the fort is running. if you finish it after that you get another key.
Great video man! Keep it up!
cliff uploads, i watch, i like, i share.
Keep up this channel, i look forward to every new video. Hope to see ya across the Sea ☠️☠️☠️
My favorite RUclipsr playing my favorite game
I know exactly where the key was put. It was on the east side crag. Based on the map positioning and the icon, it's the only place it could have been. There's no cave in or under that crag, and the icon was too far back to be in or behind the tavern. So the only place it could have been was on the crag, which is pretty simple to get to if you know how, even while carrying a treasure.
