I just finished "This Perfect Day" tonight. I hadn't read any fiction in a long while. It felt so damn good! What a beautifully crafted book, and I totally related to the character. There was no doubt in my mind that he could do what he did at the end. Super fun.

"This Perfect Day" sure has some interesting parallels to today.

I just finished half of the book. I’m sure I’ll be done by the end of this week... however, can I ask few questions about some parts in the book?

Thank you for making a video about Ira Levin. He is my favorite author and This Perfect Day is my most favorite book ever. I've read it so many times. I can't recommend this author enough and I wish I could find more authors that could write stories like he did. The Stepford Wives & Rosemary's Baby are classics that everyone should read. They are incredibly gripping, so easy to read, and so masterful and original. A Kiss Before Dying was excellent. I've read The Boys From Brazil but I do not remember much about so will need to re-read that one. I agree, Sliver & Son of Rosemary were not as great as his other books. I wish he was still around to come up with another masterpiece.

This Perfect Day was the first book I ever read back when I was 12 yrs old. It turned me on to reading. I have read many book's since then and I enjoy it immensely. I just started to read This Perfect Day again 30 yrs on. Wow it has blown me over :) My fav book of all time.

I have read all his books, but This Perfect Day is my favourite. In my opinion, it should be up there with Orwell; (1984), Huxley: (Brave New World), and any number of dystopian novels, Sci Fi stories etc. Especially ones that have made it to film. The only one being 1984. Isn't it?
I mean, this theme goes back to Fritz Lang's Metropolis. I would love to see BNW or TPD on film.
Another thing, his themes are all somewhat different...RB, AKBD, TBFB, (another favourite, which was made into an excellent film imho).
Anyway, kudos for bringing Ira Levin forward. He deserves much more recognition as you said. I would recommend Ira Levin to anyone.
I have a song, poorly recorded, called This Perfect Day...as have many others...mine is inspired directly by the book and some of my own personal experiences. If you can find the time and bare my caterwauling, give it a listen...

P.s. This is not shameless self promotion...I'm not that good.
Namaste, Peace, Love and Freedom for all.

Started Rosemay's baby. So far, so great. I've noticed how true the original film adaptation was to the book. After that, Stepford Wives. Happy reading!!

Considering where we are today, morphing into a thought controlled, narcotized, global technocracy, “This Perfect Day” should have been required reading in HS for the last few decades. A pity it is not better known-all due to the fact that there was never a film tie-in.

"The Boys from Brazil" started my interest in Ira Levin. He combines dialogue with description in a way that keeps the story moving. He is a great writer. I've seen the movies, the books are better. He is one of the best.

Ira Levin is the king of all Dystopian literature.
people who talk about dystopian lit, talk about 1984, fahrenheit 451, brave new world ... kafka...
but "this perfect day" is like 1984+brave new world, but even better.
and his other books are also dystopian.

One of Ira's gifts was the ability to write on two levels simultaneously. "This Perfect Day" could be read by a child or an adult and each could be enlightened at different levels. Kind of like the humor in "Peanuts" comic strip. I take away the second half after growing out of adolescence.

Awesome Review I’m Barely Getting To Read Ira Levin I’m Reading The Stepford Wives Actually, And On This Book There Is A Quote From Stephen King And I Quote “EVERY NOVEL (IRA LEVIN) HAS EVER WRITTEN HAS BEEN A MARVEL OF PLOTTING. HE IS THE SWISS WATCHMAKER OF THE SUSPENSE NOVEL.” THIS IS ACTUALLY WHY IM READING THIS BOOK SO FAR SO GOOD

I was fascinated by The Boys From Brazil and don't know why I've read no other Ira Levin books. So now I must check out A Kiss Before Dying. Great podcast, PT.
