Thanks for the video. Very useful. I did this job on my Mondeo at the weekend. I only took the calipers off and was able to take the discs off without taking off the carriers. Though I share with other people.
Good call sir. I couldn't budge my carrier bolts and rounded the head off one, I was in a world of pain as I needed new discs. I read your comment and yes the discs can be swapped without having to remove those bolts. Yeh....
I have the same issue with the caliper bolts being so tight that I just cannot get then undone. Will look to buy and try that breaker bar thingamabob tool 👍
Tried to replace front disk on a ford fiesta mk7 2009, the disk was held in place with a center nut, my car only did 8,135 miles since it's last brake change and the disk was warped and edge peices missing, took me 2.5 hrs to replace both sides. cool video thanx for the tips.
Well my cars due for mot and the link you left for the alternative quality discs actually only has 4 holes. I unfortunately ordered on blind faith. Guess it's my fault really but you should know to change that.
There is no need to use the grips in order to remove the handbrake cable there is a nut at the back of the clamp you simply use a 13mm spanner on that to move the clamp forwards and relieve stress on the cable.
I gave up on the cable and left it connected, I simply couldn't get the cable end out, I tried the method shown, I tried a spanner, I also tried a pry bar. Only down side is you can't remove/replace the bolt for the calliper slider, so i put some thread lock on it an re-used.
Yes, I've just done this myself. No point removing the carriers because the bolts are very tight and you risk rounding the heads. Disks come off and go on easily with carriers still in place.
I was sceptical about this as I had never had brakes before where the disc could be removed without first removing the calliper yoke, but I’ve just done mine on a 2011 Mondeo estate and it’s true. No need to remove the yoke and the disc can be removed and replaced very easily.
Not in my case, they do not come out. My car is a Smax 2006...maybe the rear wheel bolts are longer, but there is not enough room for taken them out without removing the carrier
Jó a videó, bár én minden levett alkatrészt megdrótkeféztem volna....
I agree I have hatchback and not sure where to jack up other than the 4 points on the sills. If you have trolley jack already there then where do you put the axle stand ?
Get a hockey puck, cut a v shape into it, use that on your jack, jack the car just back from the marked jack point (the notch in the seem/sill), place axle stand (I use thick rubber sheet on top) next to jack also near to the jack point. Wash the area afterwards and apply "waxoyl" based underseal to prevent rust.
I wouldn’t recommend copper grease on modern brakes as it just attracts dust and eventually makes the pad stick in the slides. They shouldn’t squeal anyway.
Good video although move camera a bit to the side of you next time so we can see where you are working .Some of the time your back was blocking what you were doing.
What is the thread on the main piston is it right hand thread or left hand thread on the side of the car you are working on. you never said and your hand is out of shot so not possible to see .
Thanks Again. Most the Videos i've Looked at seem to Miss this info out even the Haynes manual is vague which could end up in a mess if you go the wrong way.

Thanks for taking the time to cover this subject - the Internet salutes you!
Properly scripted narrated and edited complete with stills......well done and thanks for taking the trouble to do this.
Excellent tutorial. I ordered the parts and was going to use the Haynes Manual but I don't think I'll need it now!
I shall be attempting this tomorrow, weather permitting, very useful video. Thanks
Brilliant video - well done and thanks!
This vid is absolutely brilliant!
Helped me a lot! Thank you!
Excellent video, ive done mk3 discs years ago, just wasnt sure if there would be much difference. So you know what i will be doing tomorrow😀
Thanks, mate! This really helped me! Cheers!

no worries.
Great stuff! Subscribed :)
Can you please do one where you show how to replace the front (and rear) springs on the Mk4 Mondeo?
This is such a brilliant and idiot proof video, even I’ll be able to do that job now. Thanks
Attempting this today haha wish me luck, I hope I've bought the right rewind tool lol
brilliant video. thank you
I need to replace my rear discs and pads on a MK2 Ford Galaxy, is it basically the same procedure as in this video?
Thanks!
Great job, but you did not mention what sizes of torx bit and socket heads that you had to use.
Any chance of getting a photo or video of the jacking point and stand location on this car?
On my 2010 TDCI Mondeo the left side caliper retracts clockwise, same as the right side caliper, so no need to use the LH removal tool.

Its a good video but no bolt sizes? Torques sizes? Also you wind the piston ckockwise or anticlockwise? I'll have to check another video
Stay away from brakes if you need to be told those things
You can actually remove the discs without removing the carriers 👍🏻

dont suppose u could do a video showing the jacking points & axles stands location of mondeo mk4 saloon

how do you know when to replace the discs?

yds250 Right hand thread.
Thanks for reply. And Left hand on opposite rear caliper ?. Only worked on Rear drum Brakes in the Past.
Right hand both sides.

Should have re-greased the sliders.
Can't remove the disc removal screw 😩
£66 for a single disc. I dont think so. Does nobody use torque settings anymore, after all they are there for a specific reason.
just remove the caliper not the carier
